What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

interested in reading more if you are comfortable sharing additional thoughts on this topic
was it because you thought they were watching your swing path and wrist position or perhaps something else was more involved

It’s simply easiest to blame them than to take accountability for my actions.

Maybe playing with them interrupted my rhythm or something, but if so I didn’t really notice. And it got pretty hot. (I did have to back away from one shot because one of them went on a profanity-laced tirade after a bad shot.). Ultimately I’m just not super consistent and made a few bad swings. Tomorrow is another day.

agreed, let's move on

40 (par 36). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Pretty good for Tuesday night golf. Six pars, two completely unnecessary 3 putt bogeys and a one hole mental vacation.

tidy booker

Shot 89 the only other time I played this Par 73 (36/37) 6,490 yard 71.5/124 a few months ago.

91 49/42
6/15 fairways, 6/18 greens.
1 birdie, 5 pars, 6 bogeys, 5 doubles and a triple.
2 1-putts, 2 3-putts and a 4-smash. 38 putts.

Took a while to get it going. Played the first 8 +14, the last 10 +4.

Had to bury a 40 foot birdie putt on 9 to break 50.

Made a 4-putt double on the par 3 4th after pulling my 9-iron to the back left when the pin was front right.

Hit a few really good lag putts. Missed a few makeable birdie chances.

Back at this course tomorrow with a hopefully better result.

Perfect weather. 70s and sunny with a slight breeze.

89 46/43
5/15 fairways, 3/18 greens.
2 birdies, 1 par, 12 bogeys and 3 doubles.
3 1-putts, 3 3-putts. 36 putts.

Didn't make a non+ number until hole 13. Missed too many greens and subsequent up-and-down putts. 2 of my doubles were 3-putt-doubles. Sloppy off of the tee as well.
Don't think I've had more birdies than pars all year.
Par 3 that I made 4-putt double on had the pin in the same spot today. I hit my tee shot in the same spot I did yesterday, but only 3-whacked today. Improvement!
Different course tomorrow.

the minimal golf time available each week for non-course activity typically results in exchanging two tokens for a large bucket of not so free range eggs

no doubt the scoring would measurably improve if even one of those hours was spent around the short game area exploring proper go to move for different common situations

to be clear
talking about me not you

50-44 on the same course I shot 87 on 7/4
71.3/134

Differential 19.1 and pushes out a bad score so the ghin dropped to 18.7 a new lifetime low.

I hit heel shanks and big pulls with driver all over the front 9 but got it partially sorted out on the back. Only 2 3-putts all day, 5 penalty strokes, and otherwise a bunch of decent iron and wedge play. Managed to land a 5w greenside 5y short from 270 yards on a par 5 which was fun.

Agree with you redeyes, I have seen a lot of improvements on full swings in the sim but not a ton around the greens, you need to dig those out of the dirt.

Par 71 35/36 6,090 yards 69.1/130

70s and 5-15mph winds.

89 45/44
5/14 fairways, 4/18 greens.
1 birdie, 5 pars, 8 bogeys, 2 doubles, a triple and a quad.
3 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 35 putts.

Birdie was result of a 2nd shot 3h from 225 on a par 5 over the trees that landed pin-high 25 feet away. One of my best shots ever. Eagle putt was 3 inches short.

Scrambled well, just missed too many greens and subsequent par saves. 2 of the 3 1-putts were tap-ins off of great chips.

Back at it tomorrow.

36-39-75 (par 35-36-71). 1 birdie, no double bogeys. 68.6/119/5851

When in doubt, play an easier course. Oh, and play better too. Only one wayward tee ball, hit a lot of greens, putted decently. Good day.

Weird stat: On the first nine holes I hit the same club (5 hybrid) into the green on 7 of them. Ended up hitting the 5h about a dozen times, never touched the 4h or 6h.

We did a Captains charity day today. Was a fun format. Basically you had to pay Β£1 for every club in the bag with the putter being free. I ended up paying for 3 wedges and 4/7/9 iron. I did ok apart from 2 holes. I think I was 2 going into 15 and made a double. Then 17 hit a OB 4 iron and ended up making a triple. You got fined for going in bunkers and making a 0 score on a hole (Stableford). I shot +3 over my handicap with is decent. Didn't really hit the ball well today. Putter was cold. I ended up having 2 fines.

Overall we raised a bunch for a small club and I think everyone enjoyed it. What was sort of distasteful was the comments in the chat group that has everyone in. Basically a guy shot -2 gross ended up coming 2nd to a guy off 15 shooting +7. People were in the chat group saying "we know who the real winner is". I played with the +15 and he played really good.

Other thing that pee'ed me off a little. On the Friday night 9 hole roll up we do. 2 people ended up walking off after 3 and 5 holes. I don't know if it's just me I just find this outright rude. I could maybe understand it in a 4 ball but we were all 3 balls that night. I suggested we start giving fines out for people who walk off the course. It's happened a few times now but never really on a Friday night which I run.

Over the last year or so I could of walked off so often as I was playing so bad, To me golf is just about playing good. It's the social aspect of it as well and if you're playing bad accept it and try and learn something or figure it out. Just poor form to walk off.

this is a broad reaching generalized statement, but probably the most expedient way for high handicappers to shave strokes is to focus on scoring success from the cup out, not the tees in

also forgot to mention
the round next week is on a course that hosts annual lpga events

because of a women's club event the venue shifted to a local muni designed by Chandler Egan in 1917, a dozen years before he paired with Alister McKenzie to renovate Pebble
a beautifully tree-lined horror story requiring both left and right shots at the most inopportune time of course resulted in a lesson of humbling rescue shot practice

for some odd reason i am unable to locate the scorecard, but if it takes a hundred fbi agents to redact the epstein files we should probably find a couple more to count the strokes it took for me to get through that round
two sleeves plus perhaps one or two more of sacrifical vice balls
only one three putt

93

i'll elaborate.....46-47-93.

I no longer carry a handicap but if I did it'd be around 20. The days of 85's are long gone.

hey nate
what do ya say me and you stick together and get through this

3rd time playing this course. Shot 82 here a few weeks ago.

Par 72 35/37
84 44/40
3/14 fairways, 7/18 greens.
1 eagle, 7 pars, 8 bogeys and 2 triples.
4 1-putts, 2 3-putts. 32 putts.

Eagle was a 48-degree wedge that holed out from 120 yards on a par 4. Never done that before. Everyone I was playing with saw it disappear. It was pretty cool.

On the 2 triples you’d never in a million years believe I was a decent golfer.

Playing 9 with a non-golfing buddy tomorrow.

nice one TBE

42-45-87. No birdies, 2 double bogeys, 1 triple. 70.3/133/6151.

Meh. Never got a consistent feel for the swing. Too much experimenting.

Oh I don't have a choice. I'm in a Wednesday league (a league I quit over 10 years ago, nice to see familiar faces).

League scores have ranged from 42-46. But the course is relatively easy. Get me on a "real course" and I'm consistently around 95.

In a string of 9 straight rounds that roll off that are 8 non-counting and my worst counting so great opportunity to drop the cap.

Saturday - tournament. Format is everyone plays your own ball, team score is the two best net scores for the first 6 holes, three best net scores for the next 6, all four count for the final 6.

I am playing pretty good despite a hosel on 9 costing me to make a double on a hole I get two pops on. Make another double on 11 after a horrific lie after a pulled drive. I then go par-par on 12 and 13 and then stuff a 4h from 175 to 18 inches on 14 to win a skin, get "deuces" trash payout, and win closest to the pin. I was +9 thru 14 at this point. I then finish quint-double-triple-quad to completely murder my round as well as our team. We were doing really well, and still ended up 2 shots out of first and 3 out of winning despite having to use all of those scores. So if I just close double-triple-double-triple, we win. Cost myself and each of my teammates $75 and got a non-usable differential despite low-to-mid 80s being close to assured with 4 holes left.

Sunday - turn in +9 and then get up and down for par on the first 4 holes on the back, so +9 through 13 this time. Close double-double-double-triple-triple for yet another unusable differential. This was mostly horrific breaks, though also a horrendous 8i tee shot on 17.

Two all-time HEY WAYNE moments. Trying to focus on the large swaths of continuing good golf, but feels like solid waste of opportunity.

47 from the back tees on a local muni course 36.1/131 at 3450 yards. 3 doubles, 0 GIR. 1 3-putt. 1 par. Scrambled my ass off after missing all the greens, no chunky/thinned or purely bad chips but nothing stuck tight, lots of two putts.

42 (par 35). No birdies, 1 double bogey, 1 triple.

Two bad holes - a four putt double and a three putt mental midgetry triple. Otherwise played decently. Ball striking good, chipping bad, took a few holes to get the putter dialed in.

another round this Thurs on the same course from last Friday that resulted in 1xx
wish me luck

Back on the home course 72 36/36 6200 yards

85 42/43
7/14 fairways, 9/18 greens.
6 pars, 11 bogeys and 1 double.
1 1-putt, 6 3-putts. 41 putts. 23 putts on the back.

Hit it great, just missed every single putt. Even had a 3-putt par on a par 5. Disappointing.
