Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
Of course it’s a real thing. As was pointed out in the other thread just calling my own family white trash is racism albeit a generally accepted form. There doesn’t have to be an effect to be discrimination
There doesn’t have to be an effect to be discrimination
by definition, I think there does.
anyway, yes ofc some people hate Jews for being Jews. but there is no country in the West where any Jew is discriminated against for being Jewish. and in fact, as the recent cases at Columbia and Harvard show among countless other examples, Jews are given at least as much privilege as white people.
if some loser on 4chan hates Jews or even some Ukrainian front line grunt for Azov does too, I dont really care bc those people have no power. irrational fear of their hatred should not be considered by smart people when the ruling politicians and media employ the cynical usage of antisemitism to justify the crimes of Israel at the behest of the West.

congrats, you just defined antisemitism which you said did not exist.
I know logic is not your strong suit though
Reverse-racism is just a non-sensical term. Racism is racism. And any race can be racist. What people mean when they say black people can't be racist it's nearly meaningless for an oppressed group to be racist because they don't control the system of oppression. Absolutely black people can be racist, but when they are it is far less harmful to those they are racist against than
This is the 100% correct position and the fact that this is controversial to some on the left is sad.
I mean, you clearly disagree with that statement
this part really.
What people mean when they say black people can't be racist it's nearly meaningless for an oppressed group to be racist because they don't control the system of oppression. Absolutely black people can be racist, but when they are it is far less harmful to those they are racist against than, for example, when white people are racist to black people, due to white people being the majority and, sadly systemically even today, the oppressors.
Jews are not analogous to the black people in this example bc in the West, today, Jews are not discriminated against or oppressed in any material way. thats why I put antisemitism in the same bucket as anti-white racism.

I donβt think Jews are analogous to White or Black people, mostly because the analogy breaks down when you consider they are an ethnoreligious group, sometimes hated for their ethnicity, sometimes hated for their religion.
I do think in general the discrimination that they do face is social discrimination rather than economic discrimination. So it just depends on how important you think social discrimination is. Seems like you place very little emphasis on it, probably because youβre white and religion doesnβt come up too much so no one cares that youβre an atheist.
At any rate itβs still bad to be hateful against whites or jews even if you think they have all the systemic power because hating someone for their race/ethnicity is just clearly a bad thing to do full stop.

I mean, ive been called white trash and redneck but i dont think it matters much because im not affected, institutionally, as much as someone who is black.
The problem today, is you have a lot of white people, mostly younger and left leaning, who have built up a lot of guilt, that leads to hate, to themselves and others which isnt good. I see it here and on UP. And most of them need an assortment of mood stabilizers to get through life as a result of it. The particular people who put that on others deserve the problems that they have
I heard that the mods were reviewing all the accounts for banning but decided to complete the review in reverse alphabetical order but started at L instead of Z to mix things up. Iβm pretty sure Lagtight is pretty safe given his new screen nameβ¦.
But Luckbox and Lozen, we will miss you guys.

Yes thatβs why I guess I would concede to victor that I donβt think white people are βoppressorsβ as gorgo put it. I would rather say that they have certain advantages that they should appreciate. Much the same way I think Black Americans are advantaged by being Americans, something that doesnβt get acknowledged as much as I think it should.

I don't think "white guilt" is some sort of similar racism, but I think it's more of a symptom of where things went.
Before your time, we had a poster named Fly, who was an intelligent poster, who really opened the floodgates in calling everyone and everything a racist. Often he was correct, but the problem was is that you had a lot of people, as a result, overcorrect themselves, either to virtue signal, or out of fear of being called the next racist or w/e. It ended up becoming a weighted burden on a lot of people who believed that it was correct to feel contrite for what others did. I can assure you that many of them aren't doing so well today.
The point is, is that white people are awesome. And that you're not going to want to be around anyone who tells you otherwise.
...And it's also a terrible way to get votes in a political sense so of course the libs are going to love the idea.
Is it antisemitic to deny the existence of antisemitism?
Sigh. Yeah, no, thatβs not okay.
Iβm just getting home from rehearsal.
Iβm not understanding your position here. Is the view supposed to be that there is no such thing as being trans or is it that particularly children should not be transitioned?
The exchanges consist of like 2 paragraphs total and it's blatantly obvious I'm talking about the latter. why is this so difficult for you to follow along?

Vic, my JCC kept getting bomb threats. Slow your roll. I keep telling you that you need to be more precise with your language. Antisemitism is real and is actively happening in Western countries.
You donβt need to deny that to make other valid points imo.

Sure, I definitely understand this tendency and have pushed back against it where I think it makes sense. I feel like in general the weight of that isn’t being felt in society as much as it used to be, so I just haven’t had the occasion to discuss these things, except to say that I was very happy with the needle that was threaded in the Harris campaign and think she didn’t get enough credit for helping Democrats through those issues by showing a pro-America, pro-racial unity position. It’s not lost on me that Kamala was the first presidential nominee that was in a fully interracial couple, and she didn’t make people feel racist for not supporting her candidacy.

I feel like I am cautious to use that phrase because I’m not sure about genetic group identities. Like I think that being an African and being a black american and being a black descendent of slaves, it can all kinda be blended together in our conceptions but they mean very distinct things.
And so when we ask ourselves, ok what does white people mean? Does it mean white descendents of Europeans? Does it include latino people that look white but might have the experience of being a non-white ethnicity? Does it include jews? Does it include arabs? Or only certain arabs?
Like what exactly are we saying is awesome? Are we just saying that white people should feel good about whatever their history is that brought them here, regardless of how society situates them?
I mean I think a great example of this is Asians. Would we say Asians are awesome? Are we also including in “Asian” people from the Indian subcontinent or pacific islanders? Is that the best way to conceive of people who feel strong identity with their ethnicity, to the point that some Chinese just consider themselves completely distinct from other groups? Or Japanese that have a particular history of being thrown into camps just for their ethnicity, not their race?
It just all gets really fuzzy and I really think that people are usually better off just looking at themselves as individuals. That’s usually where I would situate my anti-white guilt argument. You shouldn’t feel responsible because your race did something horrible. All races have done horrible things, and generally we just should never hold people accountable for something their ancestor did.
edit: but yeah to your point Democrats made a huge blunder allowing the party to be taken over by people who spoke for the Black/hispanic community but could never actually speak for them because no one does.
I see a pattern:
