Russia is a kleptocracy largely run by corruption. You get to steal as long as you pay the person above you, who in turn must pay the person above him. Superficially it has the laws and institutions of a democracy, and the economic systems of a capitalist welfare state. However, it is illusory. Elections are not free, courts are dependent, genuine political opposition is not legal, criticism of government is banned and private property rights are only respected if the regime doesn't want what you have.
There is a welfare state and an poorly hidden oppressive police state, which offers stability when it isn't busy murdering or persecuting dissidents. Which is also the reason that the regime is still popular, because the assumption is that while the regime is not good, the alternative is worse.
While you can find similar traits in most developed democracies, because few countries are completely free of corruption, you won't really find anything similar. Not even hybrid-regimes like Hungary or Turkey are close.
When you start to include concepts like Novorossiya or Russian neo-imperialism, which are both openly embraced by the Regime, things get worse quickly. Add a sprinkling of ultra-nationalism, which the regime has been forced to more openly adopt, and it smacks of some of the worst regimes in European history.
