New fast food discussion/review thread
OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

amazing
I never saw that. Great!
For those who absolutely must eat at the newest IN N O in Washington state, word is on the street that parking in the Costco lot and walking over is the move.
Curious as to what the operating hours will be. I recently waited the longest ever at a ff joint, it was 20+ minutes at a MCDs in Clu Elem just as lunch broke on a Sunday camping weekend. What a Shipshow. Luckily the meal hit the spot, but I didn't expect that wait at all

"Starting in early September, the prices of eight widely sold combos will bet set 15% below the sum of the individual items. $5 breakfast and $8 Big Mac and nuggie combo meal specials will come later in the year"
$8 Big Mac combo gimme.
"15% below the sum of the individual items"
I take this to mean full retail price of each item -15%. I haven't ordered a big boy combo at MCDs for years, I'd assume they would be doing this anyways because a combo is supposed to be offered at a discount?
Prices can go down? Capitalists in shambles.
People order combos?
I'm usually surprised by what the normal people order at the drive thru. When I was stuck in the MCD car line a few weeks ago for 20 minutes, dude in front of me ordered a single beverage.
He waited 20+ minutes for a coffee or soda. And this was a hybrid MCD's/gas station. He could've parked, ordered at the counter (figure in an awkward 1-2 minute wait as the register doesn't have dedicated staff member) and saved 17 minutes.
What boggles my mind are adults that buy a hamburger or cheeseburger ala carte, plus like a large soda.
Bless their hearts, they subsidize my comfy buns.
Excellent!

It's been well known for years that you didn't necessarily get a discount when ordering the combo. I'm pretty sure that I've seen a disclaimer to that effect on the drive thru board at Ricks.
But if you get $8 Mac combos in Seattle and other high cost areas, that would be quite the deal.
perfect

Spoiler
If I could give this Denny's location a negative star review, I would. I've basically come to boycott it because of a specific waitress.
I went in here with my husband and my mother, late one night. There were very few people in here, so I would expect decent service. Nope. Didn't happen.
Our waitress wrote down the absolute opposite of our orders. I don't quite know how she managed to screw that up, but she did one hell of a job. In fact, I had asked to see a ticket she gave the cook to confirm what we had ordered. It was nowhere near correct. She honestly looked like she was high. I've since seen her multiple times at the gas station next door during the night when I've stopped in, and her condition has gotten worse, and the meth scars increased. It is sad to see.
When our food was delivered, she almost tipped one plate over because she couldn't balance then appropriately, and had a bad case of the shakes. It was painfully obvious that she was shaking enough that she should've just made a couple of trips. She managed to drip a fair amount of syrup onto my phone that was sitting on the table, then told me I shouldn't have left it on the table. She spilled soda on my husband. I'm pretty sure giving a toddler a full glass of any kind of liquid would've been safer, and there would be less mess.
Now, the part where I flared was when I told her about the issues with our order and what needed to be corrected, she took what I said to the cook. This would be fine, because it needed to be fixed. Except, she basically ripped him a new *******, where the entire restaurant could hear it, and it wasn't even his fault. She screamed at him, belittled him, and talked down to him over her screw ups. I drew the line at that point and went to a manager. I honestly wanted to go give the poor cook a hug and tell him it wasn't his fault, and not to listen to her.
The manager wasn't much better. I asked another waitress if ours was as high as she appeared, and her answer was concerning... she thoughtfully said she wasn't sure. Like, this could actually be a real issue, and I wasn't the first to complain, and she was tired of picking up the pieces from that waitress causing problems. The manager just kind of smiled and nodded at my complaints. She obviously kept this employee working there, even with her meth use becoming more and more obvious as the months went on because I would see her in uniform walking to the Shell station. Which tells me the quality control is just terrible. I felt sorry for the cook and the second waitress in there. It seemed like the one bad employee was making life pretty much impossible for the rest of them.
The food, once it was correct was alright. It's typical diner food, that is extremely processed and nothing special. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. We just had to start with getting the order right to eat it. After the issues with our waitress, it soured the entire experience, and I basically just paid for my food and walked out. I just wanted to leave because it was that bad.
Would I return? Nope. I've boycotted this place after three incidents with that specific waitress, and complaining every time. That last one I detailed above was not only the worst, but the final one for me. I've said when she is fired, I may contemplate returning, but not until. Which is sad. This particular location is very close to my husband's job. So it would be super easy to run over here and meet him for a quick breakfast together when he gets off work, and I would love to do that more often. But this place simply doesn't deserve my money.
only when the waitress is required to hold something between her knees

To me, that just sounds like they’re about to raise the prices on all of their a la carte items by 15%.
The post was tongue in cheek.

He probably had maxed out his credit cards, had no money in the bank, and used his Rick’s points for a beverage.

how much could the sonic chili have changed in 40 years since it was last served from a window tray hung off my girlfriends '83 t-top firebird?
REDs question reminded me that 40 years ago I worked as a shop helper in a place that did aftermarket t-tops and van conversions. Boss would frequently buy lunch for the crew (4 of us + him). Pete's Fish n Chips (Phx residents know) and some stand-alone hotdog joint near the airport were frequent targets. Except for Ted's (imported from upstate NY)(love 'em), all the great dog joints seemed to have disappeared from the Phoenix area. Great Dane's (RIP) was another good one that got many repeat visits from yours truly.

Across the street from where I used to live in San Jose, a hot dog cart used to set up. I used to drive by there in the late morning a lot (can't remember why) and I would see him setting up. Nobody around, no waiting, so I used to snag a couple if I happened to be there. I didn't understand why he was there... until I realized later it was right in the center of a bunch of high tech offices like KLA and Intel. They were the typical Sillycon Valley low-rise office complexes that don't really look like high-tech offices. Think Office Space.
