as the wizard howard stern one wisely said about becoming a recovering idahoan velo nicotine addict
why do all these unread threads keep cluttering up my oot feed?

i am
smelling like i rose
from a man who knocks pitbulls
leaving them on their birthday death bed
mostly dead and bloated
getting their fair share
of bourbon soaked white bread

Is that one of them fancy HaiYou poetry things?

is haiku to you
nothing but brief silly bells
ringing purposefully

not to be confused
with robustly bountiful

I will just never live long enough to understand ...

Probably should post it in the Things That Piss You Off But Shouldn't thread.

ETA: It doesn't quite piss me off though. It only puzzles me.

RED should be posting in the High AF thread and then it would all make sense

Minneapolis, St. Paul International Airport. Right inside security.

It also includes Hobbs
I can easily get there from my house in an hour and 25 minutes
Oddly enough it takes me an hour and 45 minutes to get home

I've heard that West Texas winds can be a bear, but that is ridiculous.

The wind can be fierce and blow in some awesome dust storms, but I've yet to find any gummies or flower in my yard afterwards.

Milwaukee.

ah! Nowwww I understand.

I'm surprised you can get home that quickly 😉

Yeah, I figured there's a good bar on the "home" side of the highway, stop s in for one on the return.

There used to be a place somewhere out on I-20 or I-10 in west Texas called Texas Interstate Truck Stop. Seemed to be a popular place. Wish I'd thought to take a picture of the sign.

Discombobulation in the Recombobulation Area sub-thread. Still no sign of (or for) Combobulation. Sad.

TIL that MSP copied Milwaukee, where it originated. I would have guessed the other way around.

*knuckle knock knock on a driver side window announcing cop talk*

THP: afternoon sir, any idea why you were pulled by an officer of the texas highway patrol?

CC: ummmm, reckon might be because i been swerving to avoid those new mexican tumbleweeds so's not to slam the brakes off those cowboy cold beers in the bed
could also be because you look like the type to appreciate smoked meat and fried taters til you pass out

THP:did i just hear you say something about knowing mexico and weed?
sir i am required to ask a spectrum of drug lord questions including what are some ways you would identify yourself more as conducting cartel business directly from juárez or just some calvin returning from hobbs type

CC: absolutely not sir, my third cousin twice removed invited me to a russian thistle combination measles party and christening up yonder around seminole. you know, same town that great american anti-vaxxer rfk jr visited back in april after the outbreak

*pat pat pat on the roof*

THP: you go on and git now son

Very similar to my last (I hope) traffic stop in Texas late in the last century.

DPS (Dept of Public Safety--all were Texas Ranger wannabees) had another vehicle pulled over on an exit ramp in Austin and motioned me to pull over as I was going around them. When he let the other dumb poor bastard go, he walked his short little ass over to me.

DPS: Where's your front plate?

Me: (I usually am very humble and conciliatory in traffic stops, but I got an attitude with this one right away.) I don't have one.

DPS: Why not?

Me: My state didn't give me one.

DPS: [Walks around to check my rear plate and sheepishly comes back] Where are you going?

Me: Home.

DPS: [Never asked for my DL] Where's that?

Me: XXX Mississippi

DPS: Where are you coming from?

Me: Kerrville.

DPS: Is this the way you always go home from there?

Me: [starting to get pissed and in the early days of cell phones and me remembering I had the number of a friend who happened to be an attorney in Austin in my phone] It's the way I'm going this time.

DPS: [thinks for a looong moment] Be careful.

LOL

I can only think of one other time I got smart-mouthed with a traffic cop. I'm 2-for-2 for avoiding a ticket, but I don't recommend the approach.

thought i had a parking spot until i got closer

That would have required a lot of effort to talk myself out of flattening two of their tires.
