I lived there in 2011 and hosted a July 4th pool party. I researched ice companies and should have followed through on buying 100 lbs of block ice and dumping it in the pool.
Instead we just called it the biggest hot tub party in town. Damn that summer was brutal. And those temps were 112-115 degrees regularly.
How are the LV resort pools kept cool? I doubt any are over 90. I always assumed evaporation kept the temperatures naturally lower.
Didn't mention the heat, although I do hate the summers here. It can be hot and not be a desert.
Checking in from a hot non-desert. More like a swamp here. I hate it even more than the desert. At least the desert isn't home to as many bugs (though scorpions make up for a lot of normal bugs).
Speaking of which, anyone got any good wasp sting remedies? Little bastards did not appreciate me trimming the hedge they were apparently having a party within.

Wipe some full strength ammonia on them. Works for fire ants too.

Benadryl at bedtime--or before.

You are probably already aware, but the diphenhydramine mentioned near the bottom of CC's screen shot is the generic name for Benadryl.

Are you allergic to yellow jacket--or other bee--stings? If so, AFAIK (which is from years past and could be wrong) future stings could result in anaphylactic shock which is deadly serious.
With that kind of reaction, I'd be trying to find out as much about that as I could for future reference and protection!
Your getting stung on the hand playing golf reminds me of playing in our club championship years ago (match play) and my opponent got stung on the hand by a yellow jacket on the second hole. I happened to have some Benadryl in my golf bag and gave him some. Of course he ended up beating me in the match. No good deed ...

I'd guess Red's hands are pretty much normal for getting stung. Once or twice a summer, I'll get hit when picking up apples the tree rats have knocked down.
Bees or wasps will get into the bite marks, and (I assume) suck up the juices. Sometimes I don't see them when picking up, and get hit. Hand will swell similarly.
Ice and in a day or two, and back to normal. I'd also guess that the above advice with ammonia, baking soda, and benadryl is good advice, though haven't tried.
