AM YISRAEL CHAI.

Good tweet apart from the r word
It was nine killed by execution-style shootings, plus one who died later after a long period in coma. They were all on one ship of the flotilla where resistance was offered with blunt and edged weapons, and the Israeli attackers had ten non-fatal casualties (and obviously lost their temper, since the IDF is an ethnic militia, arrogantly accustomed to kicking people around and killing them without consequences).
It was, though, a PR and political disaster for the Israelis and, since the dead were all Turkish, it is a primary reason for the downturn in Turkey-Israel relations since that time.
There are people who are desperate to believe it's not true. Not even that there's enough evidence to warrant prosecutions.
It can be really hard to accept some things are true because it conflicts so strongly with their strong worldview. It doesn't make them stupid either. It's just very hard.
That’s true but you could argue the inability to change one’s mind when presented with incontrovertible evidence is one form of stupidity.
I was talking to a not young family friend only today about the housing crisis and we talked about right to buy, and I asked her which government brought it in and she said Labour and wouldn’t believe me when I said it was a cornerstone policy of Thatchers government. Then I showed her an online article and she didn’t want to believe that either.
She’s consumed with hatred of Starmer which is fine but it’s so intense that it’s scrambled her brain.
I follow Taleb on Twitter.
Whatever you think about his works or technical analysis; most of his takes on this conflict are ridiculously biased and horrible.
He has never had a single critical thing to say about Hamas, hezbollah, IRGC, etc. and nothing but criticism for US, Israel.
There is no attempt at impartial analysis. It is just naked lizard brain tribalism.
He literally argued Hezbollah won the war against Israel.

The biggest problem is most of the people, like Taleb, who chimp out the loudest in this are bad actors with ulterior motives, with no first principles beyond lizard brain tribalism.
So it is a lose lose even engaging them at all.
I could point out that based on his worldview and positions he takes on other conflicts Taleb is completely indifferent to what he calls genocide. So if he doesn’t actually care, why is all the onus on “zionists” to care?

I'm not sure it's a form of stupidity but if it is it's so different from the common form that we shouldn't easily conflate them.
It's not just the evidence that matters, it's the sheer quantity and strength of the existing beliefs that have to be altered. That's a physical process as much as anything and it takes work and time. Epiphanies are like overnight successes - they tend to hide a vast amount of prior work.
Hating starmer and thinking he is following thatcher's policies are highly consistent. Unless she is is some right wing fanatic who thinks is starmer is a rabid lefty
I'd argue that in fact it's one of commonest forms of stupidity and everyone suffers from it to some degree.
Everyone suffers from it. It's how brains work. AI will suffer from it as well.
To quote myself. "As you get older the problem ain't with learning new stuff, it's with forgetting old stuff"
Then you've just contradicted yourself, though I don't expect you to agree.
pretty sure i haven't but whever
No it’s actually a ******ed and antisemitic tweet. Israel doesn’t “control” other governments, even victor understands that. The West supports Israel because the leaders perceive it as being in their interest.

Are you holding the same view on people acting like this on the opposite side ?
I will prove it’s not an antisemitic theory by showing a video of Tucker Carlson’s show. You’re a class act jal.
Which country reflect Luciom political views ?

Taleb lost all dignity as a public intellectual when he said the entire world should just have locked down a month and covid would have been solved permanently. He lost his mind completly back then.
But his previous absurd denialism about IQ already was a hint that his mental faculties were significantly in trouble.
And i say that as an avid reader of his good books. It's unfortunately how decent people can go completly ****ing nutz
Imagine they're in a dinghy. So you try to "push them away" and if that doesn't work you turn the guns on them until either everyone's dead or the dinghy sinks?
You tow them back from where they came, if they refuse and resist you can use violence same as if someone refuses and resist arrest by law enforcement.
You might claim they should use shots with tranquilizers like with animals , if it works i would be ok with that as well.
When someone refuses to be arrested law enforcement put handcuffs on them and take them into custody, which is a form of violence, so we agree.
What acts of violence do you think should be done to people in a dinghy in the sea if they refuse to be towed?

He is still going strong on the anti-IQ arguments. He recently tweeted that you could train anyone to score 170 on an IQ test. But despite numerous offers to put his money where his mouth is, he hasn't taken any of the offers.
