There is very little chance it passes before sept 12. Senate isn’t even planned to formally meet until October. This passed just to get the momentum for 2026 imo. It would be a miracle if this gets to a senate vote before two weeks.

There's some ahole from Pechanga supporting it also. The same casino that shut down their LIVE poker room. These guys are such hypocritical clowns.

Hit one for $500 took like 5 days. No notification no email, Luckily happened between sessions. There needs to be a history somewhere.

It’s a great promo (Although, the $110 is pretty reg heavy). I wonder if they use some Google sheet they use for tracking. It’s so sketch that there’s no actually tracking or notification

Gold coin games are being discontinued Sept 17th.... thats odd. So how will they be able to claim you're buying something worthless and being gifted sweeps coins.... thats going to give states more ammo to ban them....

Dunno if this even relevant. I mean, from all I read once Ab831 gets to senate it's going to pass. But I'm thinking this is going to be a 2026 thing.

"AB 831 is a bill introduced by California Assemblymember Avelino Valencia aimed at protecting Californians from unregulated online gambling by banning "dual currency""

Welp, maybe theyre going for theyre no longer dual currency lol.

Relevant to every state other than California. The whole sweepstakes model is you're buying worthless tokens and not depositing money to gamble with. FBI could do a black Friday crackdown abruptly locking the website for it being illegal online gambing. Might buy them a year until Cali changes the law.... funds left on the site would be more at risk taking away the gold coin charade.

On Doug’s clubwpt stream today he doesn’t seem to concerned with the California bill passing, he also says PLO is coming “soon”.

I wonder if they are going to pivot to another model now that the dual currency thing is getting banned state by state. I would imagine that once the Gold Coins are disabled that means you can't purchase any more sweeps coins. Would be nice if they provided a little more information in that release.

I am all for them trying something else out that technically keeps them legal so they can return to all the states that just banned it.

They say in an email there is a new upcoming feature to CWPTG hopefully it’s MTT for mobile and Any other game than PLO

Clubwptgold isn't concerned either, even though once California pulls out they're finished. It just probably isn't going to be until 2026.

Aside from the fact that they are messing with whatever loophole has allowed the site to exist, my greater concern is that they are significantly changing their whole model up and who’s to say that the next update is that they are taking away the Sweeps Cash too and going to some other “new and exciting” model. They can pretty much do what they want because their terms of service says that they can.

Are you guys starting to see their true colors? They are just trying to steal any which way possible for as long as they can.

There is literally NO OTHER MODEL that is even remotely legal other than the sweepstakes dual currency model which is also getting banned.

If they take away gold coins and pivot to anything else other than completely removing real money games in any form including sweeps coins, then they are going to be instantly shut down. They cant just pivot to a new gaming model that is HIGHLY illegal in the USA.

They continue to show you who they are, no one wants to believe they would be this brazen and really cash grab so hard but thats exactly what theyre doing.

Getting rid of gold coins seems really bad. Feels like they are just flying by the seat of their pants and its with our dollars. I wonder how long they will last.

You dont have dollars, you have gold coins you bought that are worthless. Plus you agreed to arbitration and not to participate in a class action lawsuit unless you opted out within 30 days of agreeing to the terms.

My point was that removing the gold coin feature opens them up to legal issues. Obviously the gold coins have no value but it has worked for Global Poker for many years. That is my main concern. I have never played for or used the gold coins in any way. It just feels scary from a bankroll perspective to keep money on the site moving forward without any clarity on their end.

Just initiated another big withdrawal and plan to only keep a small amount of money on the site for Sundays and whatnot. I was taught to be wary of anything that seems too good to be true.

Yeah, like I said it definitely opens up the sudden and immediate closure from the likes of the FBI or attorney generals with no notice without the dual currency sweepstakes model. Uncharted legal territory at the very least.

Or maybe they switch to bitcoin and expand globally - become the new competition for ACR, Bovada, Ignition?

This crossed my mind as well. Trying to rack my brain as to what they can possibly do without a sweeps model

WPT Enterprises Inc would have to leave the country for all that i would assume. Interesting times.

Well not entirely, we wouldnt have been required to give them our social security numbers for taxes if WPT wasnt inside the US and subject to US law.

That is because they have U.S. customers. The WPT licenses the name and brand. There are 3 WPT sites all with different ownership. None are located in the U.S. They are all offshore companies

The 1099 was an attempt to show State and Feds that they are forcing their customers to pay taxes. They thought this would save them from sweeps legislation, they were wrong

Another thought crossed my mind as well. It doesn’t even have to be the government shutting things down to put a halt to all this. They are currently using US banking for purchases and redemptions. Banks could simply refuse to process too and from the site simply based on the UIGEA. This feels like early internet poker all over again. First it was banks not doing transactions with sites and then eventually came Black Friday. I just wished we had fully functional and legal regulated online poker.
