1/3 Grinding and Bankroll
Hi all,
First post in this specific forum. Normally post in NL Strategy. Hoping for some feedback about bankroll manageme
Getting recharged over the weekend helped a lot for the beginning of the week. Got less sleep but it didn’t faze me. I even woke up early at first. Then dozed in and out a little.
Now lattes almond milk and protein powder, some push ups and rowing for good measure too. Apparently people with my mental condition are prone to heart problems and significantly reduced life expectancy so I’m going to keep my fitness up as much as possible.
My shipment of coconut vanilla and pistachio lattes came in yesterday and IÂ’m thrilled. My physical therapy is almost over finally and legal skills training ends this week too. IÂ’m going to reward myself with another trip to recharge again before work starts again. Training commuting and pt has been tough!
After training ended I practiced memorizing my written mock closing argument a couple times and then grabbed a seat at the mixed game where I started rocky losing in big o with AA874ds to AAK73 in a capped pot, doubling up with AKQQ7ds in big o. In Badeucy my pat 98642r held three ways, won a few pots here and there like 267,5,8 scooped 2-7td, and called it an early night to get good sleep for training. I need to be up extra early every day to drive over an hour in rush hour traffic into the training office, what a chore! At least today is the last day of training. I did it!
Just relaxing and playing over the weekend after the brutal weeks-long training. What a transformative experience! Hearing so many talented and passionate people in my organization was a call to arms to help our clients. At the end of it, I was exhausted but never more committed to representing my people.
Ran well today at 5/T and the big o tourney where I placed 4th after cockroaching my way up the pay ladder until finally running out of chips. At 5/T got AA twice against the same guy and busted him. On track to book a nice win this month.
Beautiful photos from mgm:

Today I got good sleep again and am enjoying pistachio and chocolate lattes. I will exercise some and then play and visit family. On track to meet my monthly profit goal of $18,000 or surpass it. I would like to buy a place near my office by the end of the year so my work commute isn’t so bad.
Last night played an interesting hand. Overlimped AK832 Acc Kddd on the button and we go five ways. Flop Q62ccd. I call a bet from mp and we go four ways to turn. Td. I have double fd and gutter and bottom pair. Checks to me I call. River 3d. He checks I bet $400 he check raised all in for $1,100. From my read on him so far this session I fold despite getting a good price. And he windmills the naked Ad in my face! He seat changes to my immediate left earlier so I repaid the favor to get his butt and he snap quit. Oh well.
Back at work now. Feel happy to be here.
Ran pretty poorly towards the end of the session, raising a gambler light (I had around 50% because he’s so wide) with AQJ32ds and KJT84ds and losing, losing dsAA to dsAA, losing top set to wrap, and straight to two pair +fd.
Ran /played meh at plo losing set over set and draw to made hand so I left for 10/25/50 where I doubled up JJ v AA J high flop and also flopped a set of 6s in a 3! Pot. Recouped the losses from plo and then some and called it a night and got a glorious 10 hours of sleep to be ready for a potential hearing.
No hearing because client changed his mind, which was for the best because the judge we would have had was not great for our clients and usually keeps them confined.
The work day went by quickly and I made a little extra playing, nothing noteworthy lost a dsAA once and then doubled up AKT97ds on 7-high flop with my fd and correctly bluff caught with second nut flush on river in another hand.
Entered a plo5 tournament and got 8th in the money just bled down until got it in with AKKJ5 versus AJT85 and lost. Played cash and ran well at plo and hold em, ATs in 3! pot won A high flop, nfd and bottom pair beat set and an open ender three way all in at plo (someone got it in with a bare open ender for stacks…😉. Gonna enjoy the long weekend and beautiful weather.
I just wrapped up another big mix session and checked my results and was really proud to see I am winning slightly overall this year. Made a lot of progress.
Got good sleep, enjoying morning lattes by the sunny windows and will exercise a little and put in a short session before seeing the family later today.
At mix lost 85432 in 2-7 dramaha to 75432 (sick cooler in single draw), but made a comeback despite being quite card dead all session and booked a small win. Made a couple mistakes like drawing 1 instead of 2 in badeucy and not snowing in badugi one hand that I probably should have. Preflop mistakes were few I think though. Unfortunate not to get many playable hands but to book a win under those circumstances is a good sign.
Got called on to cover for a colleague potentially this week which meant I had to work on Labor Day to prepare for today’s client interviews and possible hearings tomorrow.
Funny moments from the session: friend comments my hair looks nice today, I tell her my dad always asks if I got a hair cut and I say “no. My hair is just falling out of my head.”
A man is sitting next to me with a barely empty drink. I ask if he is done as I can throw it away for him. He says “you must not be an alcoholic!”
Ran ok and made $1,200 on a quick session, young woman was being closely watched by her mom with me to her left and I stacked her. It is harder to stack someone with their mom watching.
Had a really crazy busy two days of work, I had to cover last minute for a colleague and got dumped on me an 1,850 page record for a hearing I needed to review and analyze and come up with an argument in a day. I thought the case was pretty hopeless because the client was fairly ill but by the end of the hearing the judge said “I’m adopting counsel’s closing argument and releasing the patient from the hospital.” I suffered through serious headaches and lightheaded was from the stress of interviews and hearing prep but got the outcome my client wanted so I’m happy.
I played the big mix afterwards to decompress and ran well played fine and made $6,000. One blunder was raising and calling a cap with 2345 in single draw but otherwise I did ok. Been doing much better lately in that game this year compared to last and I hope thatÂ’s a sign IÂ’m improving. What a big day! Super victory in Court and on the felt.
Took a day to take it easy, booked a win and up over $10,000 already this month. Yippie! Looking like my goal to buy a place near my office by the end of the year is really possible.
Friday and weekend after a brutal week. I’m looking forward to a couple days off. Yesterday I was unpleasantly greeted by the floor who asked to talk to me aside and introduced me to a lady from the cage. She informed me that I was overpaid a week ago by $1,000. :( I paid up but I was not happy and in my tilted state I won around a $1,200 pot at plo with AJ955ds. All good.
How in the world do they make that mistake? How do you not notice? How did they "prove" it?
I've actually seen that happen once too. Old guy who's a reg in my game is approached by security and a suit and politely tapped on shoulder to get up from the table. They have a quiet discussion with him away from the table, he shrugs, nods an ok in agreement, pulls out his wallet, and hands the suit some money. When he comes back to the table he explains that they had noticed they had paid him out $100 more than they should have when he was cashing out at the main cage the week before.

They don't let you see footage but they told me the date and time and I saw in my app I was playing that night and won big so it aligned with my info as well. I remembered they made a mistake not long ago that I saw and stopped but I guess they made another one that night. I must have been tired I did not see it. Also they ban you unless you pay so I had no leverage.
Slept in and got a lot of sleep, ran bad at 2/5 KQo lost 77 flopped set 3! pot spr 3 with nut gutter and I had range/nut advantage was the biggest one, but made a big rebound with 44 on 44956 three ways got three streets from I assume a rivered flush as I overbet the pot for $1,500.
Ran AKQ93ds into AA at plo btn v sb 70 bb eff. played the mix a little to enjoy and did not play that well there. Overall made a few hundred on the day, all I need to do to get to my goal anyway.
Wrapping up another session, took a break to work in the afternoon for Monday hearings and came back. Lost at 10/25 but won a lot more at 5/T/25 and plo. AA cracked by JTs in 3! Pot in the bigger game. Ran really well elsewhere. I was looking good donning all black and white sneakers.
Slept in again which I needed. Have some more work to do today and gonna hang with the ex. Watching poker videos and sipping vanilla lattes on the couch now. Not a bad life at all. Have been listening to music at the table recently and itÂ’s really enjoyable to be in the zone a pumped up on some house music. Very fun! Already up $12,000 this month not even a week in.
Also expecting some changes at work next week, secretly I hope I get my own consistent docket so I don’t have to cover at the last minute all the time.
