I've already said this, but IANAL, and this is not a court of law. The president is making decisions that affect people's lives. I am sharing my opinions on a poker forum.

The reality is that vigilantism is legal in all states. It may feel like premeditated murder when someone travels to a riot with an assault rifle, which common sense suggests is a violent provocation. Technically, the law defines this as self-defense. I can understand why decent people, however, might describe it as premeditated murder with plausible deniability.
If we want to prevent vigilantism, we must advocate against it. If we don’t want teenagers carrying weapons that have no use in hunting, we should contact our legislators and contribute our time or money to the cause. ...or maybe it's easier to bicker and troll endlessly like old hags than to try.

You can't have vigilantes going to riots if you quell all riots immediatly with unlimited law enforcement violence.

When you say that and mean it to be "not based on law but based on what I think the law should be," then you should specify that you're basing it on imaginary shiit in your head and not legal precedent/statutes since self-defense is a legal definition.
This certainly sounds like you're making a legal argument for why it is not self-defense:
He absolutely did not act in self-defense. He entered the area brandishing a weapon, which caused others in the crowd to act in self-defense. No idea how you could think he acted with restraint, when he went there looking for someone to kill.

It was not self-defense according to my definition. I believe I have shared examples of what I would consider to be self-defense, unless they were lost in the ether. I did have one long post disappear from my phone and I'm not sure what was in there or what was in the ones that made it.
