President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Ignoring that hundreds of millions were wasted for an idiotic campaign speech by some drunk from Fox News cosplaying as MAGA patton, big ups on ‘no fatties’ being a mandate in the trump administration

The ironies are endless.

by geezerchess

The ironies are endless.

Please unpack them for us.

Trump seems like he said it's ok for cops or military to shoot US citizens who throw things.

Trump better be careful when he throws out the ceremonial first-pitch at the Washington Nationals home opener next season.

by whatthejish

Please unpack them for us.

We will have to iron a lot of uniforms after all the fatties lose weight

by whatthejish

Please unpack them for us.

I don't think it's metaphysically possible to unpack an endless series of things.

That said, 'no fatties' leads the ironicalness parade.

by whatthejish

No one said that, though?

It’s not about what you can prove, it’s about what you feel

TEAM TRUMP!!!

a draft dodger walks into a room and talks to decorated war heroes like this

saying if you don't like what I am saying you're out

I can’t even begin to rationalize how far gone you have to be to rationalize Kegstand’s bullshit here

Here’s a performative tv pundit alcoholic with no military experience beyond some national guard service serving for a draft dodging fatass in a position he is preposterously unqualified for that had its title changed to some phony performative bullshit that mirrors all of trump’s entire false image calling every general and admiral under the American banner to a political rally literally none of them wanted to be at to have their decades of experience be undermined by some axe throwing drunk clown telling them WOKE DIES TODAY under a massive American flag and telling them how the military must be run based on his years of insight from his experience on fox and friends only to be followed by the headliner, señor ‘there are 2 n-words we aren’t allowed to say’ telling them all, in effect, ‘we’re gonna deploy you to take out the enemy from within or your careers are over’

But, you know, leftist hysteria

making the military less effective and appealing is a great thing.

making the military less effective and appealing is a great thing.

Say the line, Vic!

After reading about TrumpRX tonight, I thought it would be interesting to learn what's new this year. What has the federal government changed in 2025? This list is in no way comprehensive, but enumerates federal interventions into private business that amount to serious departures from previous norms in America.

Here goes ...

Unusual Business Entanglements
- Trump-linked businesses gained roles in government-adjacent financial and health programs.

Trump Coin (World Liberty Financial, DT Marks DEFI LLC, WLF Holdco LLC), TrumpRX, Trump Card

Government Equity and Revenue Stakes
- The federal government took ownership stakes and forced revenue sharing in key industries like semiconductors, energy, and mining.

Lithium Americas / Thacker Pass / GM JV, Nvidia, AMD, Intel, MP Materials, NextEra Energy, NuScale Power, Carbon Clean Inc., Battery Gigafactory Partnerships

Political and Regulatory Pressure on Media and Telecom - Media and telecom firms faced targeted federal pressure, bans, and scrutiny over content and foreign ties.

Disney / ABC / Jimmy Kimmel Live!, TikTok (ByteDance), China Telecom, DJI, Paramount, AT&T

Law Firm Shakedowns - Top law firms were sanctioned or pressured into free legal work to maintain government access.

Perkins Coie LLP, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, WilmerHale, Jenner & Block, Covington & Burling, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Milbank LLP, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, Allen & Overy Shearman Sterling US LLP, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, Cadwalader, Taft & Wickersham LLP

Contract Cuts - Major consultancies lost federal contracts amid politically driven cost-cutting.

Accenture, Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton

Real Estate / Construction Favoritism
- Certain firms received preferential access to federal infrastructure and housing projects.

Bechtel Corporation, Fluor Corporation, Turner Construction Company, AECOM, Kiewit Corporation, PCL Construction, Hines Interests Limited Partnership, The Related Companies

Government Mandated Speech - Tech platforms were required to moderate content under direct federal guidelines.

Meta, Twitter, Youtube

Preferred Contracts - Select companies received unusually large or favorable government contracts tied to policy priorities.

Tesla, Lockheed Martin, SpaceX

making the military less effective and appealing is a great thing.

Unfortunately, that BS makes it more appealing to most young men.

Bro this doesn’t mean they’re going to do less genocide, it prob means they’re going to do the same **** just worse.

See: blowing up boats in the Caribbean.

“We’re bringing hazing back” is such a weird line to take.

People with the most stuff have the most guns. That will never change.

Even better, you can just play Bullshit Bingo. I created a card:

The whole idea of Hegseth delivering a speech on standards is laughable. His own actions in a position of leadership has been incompetent, unlawful and with repeated and blatant disregard for established rules for practice and conduct. He has done things that would landed less protected people in jail for a signification portion of their lives.

He also stands as a testament to how the Trump administration will not hold any leader to a standard as long as they remain politically loyal, the country and its norms and laws be damned.

We could also point to the irony of Trump's history of likely fraudulent health reports issued by military physicians / officers.

At least his antics have been a constant source of humor coping at my job

Referring to Signal chat had legs, months of enjoyment

"Ef Aye, Ef Oh" is another banger. I imagine I will drop it out of nowhere in 3.5 months to an uproar of laughter

As for the actual state of things, its really bad unfortunately. I haven't been on any calls with any Generals directly but many of the people I work with are in meetings with high level brass regularly

What's the buzz then? Are they all a bit pissed off about it?

What's the buzz then? Are they all a bit pissed off about it?

I don't think they loved it.

Too early to say for this specific instance but Hegseth has next to zero respect from military leadership

And his childish speech won't have turned that around, I'm guessing.

I'm sure they love the draft dodger just as much.

I mean consider the absolute stupidity of what just happened

A TV bullshitter with no military experience beyond some national guard service and screaming about woke and women on Fox News and was most famous for throwing an axe into Times Square traffic called in every single general and admiral around the world to drop everything they’re doing and immediately come to Virginia only to find out it’s so Kegstand can score brownie points with the right wing media by telling these officials with decades of experience what an alpha man he is and they all must trim their sideburns
