Climate Change - increasingly horrible disasters loom
...............
there is so much out there about this - I don't really need to provide a lot of sources - a quick google
First you were exposed to several rage-inducing cases of celebrities in airplanes, and now you suffer through the indignity of an activist speaking. We'll call around and cancel the climate crisis so your feelings can be spared in the future.
Or you could, you know - stop watching political commentators who shovel **** in your face all day.
I am not sure which political commentators you think I am watching . I have said many times I believe in Climate Change but I keep using the analogy that not one country can stop it and to many countries have zero interest in stopping it. I consider AI and the deficit bigger short term threats to society . As long as China and India keep adding Coal fired power plants at record rates nothing the USA and Canada do will stop it.
Na man, how can we function as a society if white dudes in their 50s aren’t furious about a child who is passionate about the climate
Sorry white dude yes but not in my 50's
I challenge both of you to tell me what the solution is to solve the climate change issue other than killing off a few billion people
It’s called innovation and reasonable consumption .
Fwiw yes AI and deficit are more short term problems but they aren’t human way of life ending problem either ….
And the problem of climate changes is that you can’t decide like a deficit , ok let’s stop spending to stop the problems when you want too.
There is already problems that cant be reverse already
AI Overview
Scientists: Time running short before climate change effects ...
Yes, many irreversible changes from climate change are already underway and will persist for centuries or millennia, even if emissions stop immediately. These impacts include sea level rise, melting ice sheets, ocean warming, shifting plant and animal ranges, and increased intensity of extreme weather events like heat waves, droughts, and wildfires.
It’s ok lozen , at least it’s not you and me but your kids that will suffer for it , we are all good no worry .
Ps: many countries didnt want to invest in the space program in the 1960s, I guess you believe it wasnt worthwhile for those that did it ?
Innovation is coming from people that do stuff .
It doesn’t fall off the sky by magic .

Ill make the same analogy I always did which I think is accurate . Your in a boat that is taking on water you have all the countries in the boat. You have Canada scooping out water with a thimble, Under joe Biden you had them scooping it out with a shot glass and will say European countries with a cup the problem is you have China with a bucket scooping up water and dumping it back in the boat as well as India just found a bucket and scooping the water in as well . Sadly the ships gonna sink
Also do you realize how much power AI will take ?
Like I said the best solution is for 3-4 billion folks to get wiped off the planet . Its morbid but right now it may be the only solution

how real thanos of you .
instead of just doing stuff like tax carbon, transitionning to more alternative energy , making a way of life better for the environment , etc.
better wipe the planet of like half the population because the other option could cost too much money ...

It's interesting .... this idea that ridding the world of half it's population solves anything.
The people who articulate this idea are generally in the top 10% and the people who they imagine getting rid of are the bottom 50%. They never imagine being part of the group which is eliminated.
But the bottom 50% of the population is only responsible for about 12% of emissions. It doesn't solve the problem.
Taxing carbon might have been a good idea 50 years ago.
Transitioning to alternative energy is something we have done quite well ..... transitioning away from fossil energy is something we haven't done at all, we're simply adding renewable energy to the growing carbon energy base. Also, energy isn't the only source of emissions. We need to examine what we eat.
We're stuck in a downward spiral.
The German Meteorological Society is saying that there is a chance that temperatures increase to +3C over the 1850-1900 norm by 2050.That's higher than any IPCC forecast range .... but not impossible with so many feedback loops engaging and the phasing out of sulfate aerosols from coal and shipping fuels.Let's take an opportunity to review some of the feedback ingredients. 1)
Somebody better warn Obama, he recently bought an oceanside estate.
I thought we were all supposed to be dead from another ice age by now anyway?
This is what happens when you spew disinformation, no one believes you.

Exactly .
Maybe lozen would propose himself to be part of the solution 😀 ?

Don’t worry .
It’s not given to everyone to understand science and stats .
For some reason, this is an issue which almost no one can cope with the truth.
Almost everyone has had some contact with the issue.
But the fortitude to ask and answer the important questions about the consequences we have already committed ourselves to ? It's obviously something which most people can't bear to dwell in. It's obviously tilting or nauseating ..... they can't get it away from it fast enough.
I'm not just referring to the people who deny humans are causing it. Even the people who embrace that humans are causing it can deal with how far down the rabbit hole we've gone.
Methane leaks from shallow Antarctic waters ....
This is how the biggest extinction event in Earth's history concluded 250M years ago ..... a lot of methane escaped from the ocean floor and raised Earth's temperature by 10-15C.
Obviously we're not anywhere near that magnitude at this point ..... but we're springing leaks.
Zillow removes climate risk guidance from listings.
Climate change is like Voldermort ....... he who shall not be named.

The Strange and Totally Real Plan to Blot Out the Sun and Reverse Global Warming
Stardust has been moving full speed ahead. In October, the company announced a fundraising milestone: It had secured $60 million from funds linked to, among others, Silicon Valley luminaries and an Italian industrial dynasty, bringing the total amount raised by the two-year-old startup to $75 million. It was a stunning development, far larger than any previous investment in solar geoengineering, and it placed Stardust way out in front of the few other groups looking to turn it from a theory into a business. “Don’t want to say only serious game in town,” said Gernot Wagner, climate economist at Columbia Business School and author of Geoengineering: The Gamble. “But yeah.”
Behind the scenes, there’s more evidence of a dizzyingly fast timeline. Confidential documents shared with POLITICO Magazine, public records and interviews with more than three dozen scientists, investors, legal experts and others familiar with the company reveal an organization advancing rapidly to the brink of being able to press “go” on its planet-cooling plans. Meanwhile, Stardust is seeking U.S. government contracts and quietly building an influence machine in Washington to lobby lawmakers and officials in the Trump administration on the need for a regulatory framework that it says is necessary to gain public approval for full-scale deployment.
You know, Bernie Sanders has been saying this since 1976. I'm joking, but something interesting is happening in Canada. The Liberal leader, isn't against oil. He actually assured Danielle Smith in Alberta, that it would happen. The BC premier complained he didn't really speak to him. That's a Harper move. The BC pipeline is actually likely. That's great for Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Thanks for sharing the article.
I guess some people are taking climate change seriously enough to make a buck off trying to prevent it.
Personally, I don't think this is an activity suitable for a private corporation. It needs to be an entity which is accountable to global citizens, not private shareholders.
Antarctica is beginning to change from white to green.

That's great!
Hopefully Greenland will soon follow!
Las Vegas set a March temperature record today.
Will approach 100F as the week rolls on.
Colorado ski season has been a national meme this year
Yeah. Tahoe resorts are shutting down, too.
