New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

It's been posted here before. But don't fix what ain't broken.

Rick's fries are just a salt vehicle. Took a buddy of mine to CFA this week (had that free entree to use) and he got a meal w waffle fries, and actually preferred them to Rick's fries.

Tomorrow, I'm trying both!

CFA fries are an excellent vehicle for their great sauce selection. Just make sure you get a packet of salt in case they’re not salted enough which can happen from time to time.

Entwhistle doesn't really slap. He's more of a picker.

They slapped! CFA fries in a few hours...

unless you are totally cool playing primairly a supporting role in the house of alway sloppy bass opinion

Slapping part 2!

No conclusion?

Mary Browns currently and 2 turkey dinners in 3 days, plus a stacked breakfast, I feel like Mark.

by pig4bill

No conclusion?

Both were great!

For breakfast, at 5am I grabbed a Sausage Egg & Cheese on a Croissant from DD which slapped.

For lunch, a Grande Nachos from Taco Bell. Pretty big for $6.

For dinner, a Trader Joes Burrito Bowl. I had a good streak of fast food going and blew it.

Should have gone with the Spicy Thai fried rice or Kung pao chicken at TJ's.

Slapping part 2!

slapping should be the new nomenclature itt for great FF.

McSlapping for god tier.

when exactly was 'then' in that mcdonalds french fry graphic?

I don't really trust childrens taste buds. Their palette is basic as f. I've been eating mcdonalds since the early 80s, the fries taste the f*ck*ing same as I remember.,

Also it's some random facebook page. Do they have insight into ronald's proprietary recipes over the years?

i say,f** that sh**!

So in the early 80s you were a child and your palette was basic as f. But your random post on an internet forum holds more weight than a random Facebook page. That graphic has been posted multiple times across different websites and posts on the subject.

Did McDonald's change their french fry recipe?

In 1990, McDonald's changed the formula for cooking their french fries, swapping out beef tallow for vegetable oil. So now Lifehacker Food Editor Claire Lower makes the OG fry formula—with rendered beef fat and MSG. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel. When did McDonald's change their french fry oil?
AI Overview

McDonald's has changed its fry oil multiple times, most notably in 1990 when it switched from beef tallow to a vegetable oil blend with beef flavoring. Subsequent changes were made to reduce trans fats, including an overhaul in the early 2000s and a move to a 100% trans-fat-free blend in 2007.

Key Oil Changes Over the Years

1990s: McDonald's phased out beef tallow, a saturated animal fat, due to concerns about saturated fats and pressure from health advocacy groups. They replaced it with vegetable oils and added beef flavoring to maintain the fries' iconic taste.

2002: As concerns grew about the health risks of trans fats, McDonald's updated its formula to reduce trans fat levels in the oil blend.

2007: A significant change occurred when McDonald's announced a new oil blend that was completely free of trans fats, in part to align with legislation like New York City's ban on trans fats.

Reasons for the Changes

Health Concerns: The primary driver for these oil changes was the growing public and regulatory concern over the health effects of saturated and trans fats.
Flavor and Texture: While the switch to vegetable oil was a major shift, McDonald's worked to maintain the fries' flavor and golden-brown appearance.

In the United States, McDonald's french fries are made using 19 ingredients, which include dextrose, TBHQ, polydimethylsiloxane, citric acid, and sodium acid pyrophosphate. The restaurant uses non-GMO russet and Shepody potatoes.

That’s alright. I did spend $24.xx on my return trip after I complained and was compensated (treated my friend to lunch). So maybe they’re like wow let’s get this guy back at CFA — he might spend $50 next time!

i read somewhere before maybe it was on here, that if you order fries and ask for no salt they have to cook a fresh batch?

never tried it myself.

I knew someone who would always do this in the early 2000s. I’m willing to believe he did many other things that would piss off the staff at all sorts of other places establishments.
