Suitedjustice's Ongoing Mid-life Crisis
I woke up in the middle of choking to death again; though to be accurate, it was towards the end of the process--woke up
Hey SJ, wanted to pass along this interview that discusses, among many other things, the mechanics of APing and some fun related stories. I've had the pleasure of meeting Joel a few times, and the guy is stone cold brilliant. I think you'll enjoy him.

Also sending along good wishes as you pick up steam and return to the felt!
I think the successes of the dry challenge outweigh the defeat of failing this challenge.
Additionally, why work when you can life on life's terms? It's never too late to be a bum like me!
Thanks AF! A bum with a 5-year pharma degree is a bum with solid options.
Can’t do that if SJ doesn’t play any hands.
I hope you made it for MNF. Bunch of M*******s would’ve been celebrating and donating to your rent after the Bills loss.
Thanks Da_Nit! I'm working a half day at the office tomorrow, then I'll head out for Thursday Night Football. I should have gone to the Pats/Bills, but didn't. Given the way the promo works, I'm guessing that Bills scores got a lot of cheers as well, which prolly caused confusion amongst the locals who weren't playing poker.

Thanks bob_124! I bookmarked it for the next time I play a tourney on ACR.

Nope.
I didn't go last night. I did go tonight for the slots. I found a few good plays, but ended up a few dollars behind.
Right after I finished checking the video poker machines—a laborious process of scrolling through hundreds and hundreds of screens, I saw an unfamiliar grinder just starting to check through the now-picked-over machines.
The good part of me empathized with him; the machines take a long time to pick up EV again after being checked, and it's very demoralizing to do all that work and to not find a single play. The bad part of me cackled like Cobra Commander from the old GI Joe cartoons.
Like the Cobra Commander reference don’t like you missing work again. You made it to the casino you checked for VP multipliers. Why didn’t you play poker.
Maybe he's scared to play "scared money"?
With the precarious state of his bankroll, that would be understandable.
Good to see someone else buying in with a stack of whites well played SJ,GL!
nice number
Is it 2/5?
Or 1/3 match the stack?
Thanks guys! The cage likes it because more than half of them are tokers, and they can fill up the rack quickly and easily. It's nicely squared away.
I like Yoda's beard in this; reminds me of Robert_utk, who is missed.
1/2. Max buyin is $500.
+$165 on the poker, no promo hits, and +$90 on the slots. A nice night. I played well and folded a lot pre, classic nit style.
420? I thought we were almost two years in on sobriety?
TD how much weed do you smoke? If it’s more then once a week I wonder if it’s not impacting your motivation to work.

Cannabis is a non-issue. I've had the same vape pen refill for two yearsβit's hard to get the thing to fire upβand 40 gummies lasted me nearly the same amount of time. So, 2-3 times a month?
I used to like it when I was younger, but as I got into middle age, the ratio of paranoia and social anxiety over enjoyment became too high. I don't even like to play video games on it. The quests and missions start to feel like annoying errands.
I just finished Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander, an astonishing three hour admixture of color-drenched magical realism and galloping existential dread.
Mind you, it's very good.
As usual with these great directors, I noticed the blocking: what kind of business they put in the frame to draw the eye around and augment the themes and storylines.
Here Bergman does not disappoint, putting up several memorable visual repasts.
The exception being the stark visual famine of the malevolent Bishop's domain.
I'd love to see this on the big screen someday. I'll keep my eye out for any Bergman film fests in the area.
I remember seeing the 5.5 hour TV version (in episodes obv) as a kid in '84; not sure we if we had already a color TV back then. I don't remember much apart from the existential dread it oozed and finding out that we protestants also had Bishops.
Don't be silly. I would have known that there a protestant Bishops in my early 30s.
In fact I did know in my early 30s, just much later.
