Looks like UK is getting out of the gate with a win against vaunted Nicholls State. This on the heels of a pre-season loss to Georgetown. That's Georgetown College, Kentucky ... not Georgetown Hoyas DC. Student population 1500. I had to do a triple take at that population size. I think it's right.

So UK played preseason #1 Purdue in first preseason game. Played Georgetown Hoyas in second preseason game. To be a little fair, there were stories around here of people selling Georgetown tickets because they assumed it had to be College.
Ha ... UK plays so much riff raff in the preseason and the early games at Rupp that I just presumed it was Georgetown, KY. So who is it they play on Tuesday night ... Louisville or Louisville Bellarmine? 😃
Actually it seems awfully early for the Cats/Cards tilt. I don't remember many so early since the first year of the renewal (1984 season, I was at the game). Louisville was so stupid for scheduling that. After years of UK refusing to play them, UofL beat them in the 1983 NCAA Tournament and then UK wants to schedule them first game next season in Rupp. Louisville, decimated by graduation and UK with whole team back, stupidly said yes.
Anyway the game has been right around New Year's mostly for years.

Yeah, I absolutely loathe that the UK/UL game is this early. Imo, it should be during rivalry week, right before Duke/UNC. Instead, it has gotten earlier in the schedule.

I like it around New Years. So late in the season as Duke/UNC in early March is just too much. With the SEC regular season ending, the SEC Tourney and then the NCAA Tourney in the offing ... I don't like it. Looks like this is the earliest game ever in terms of date, but it was the first game of the year that first season of the resumption of the series.
I feel kinda bad for Oakland -- after getting hamblasted by Michigan (1.56 ppp!) on Monday, they travel to ... West Lafayette. Poor damn Golden Grizzlies.
