So you are saying there is a chance

McLaren cannot put their eggs on one driver now. They are too close. What they need is a good result for Oscar and a DNF for Lando to do such a thing.

If Max ends up being the laughing third, McLaren will never hear the end of it.

McLaren moved all their development eggs to the 2026 basket and now their chickens are coming home to roost, they could end up with egg all over their faces.

Max is going to win it.

Max is going to win it.

How much would you have to pay Lewis to have him ensure that doesn't happen?

If Max wins it, that would be the GREATEST comeback in F1 history.

Very impressive qualifying from Lando

Oscar really does seem to have lost his mojo

Oscar is looking low on confidence at the moment. He needs one really good race weekend to get his confidence back.

What the hell was that VSC, they also never showed Sainz

Anyway, fun race for P2-P5 but yet another race where the win is not even close

Russell complaining about Max having to give that place back. LOL dude, he had already passed you fair and square, before he went into the grass.

So you're free to bomb into a corner with no hope of making a turn and are free to go off track as long as you are ahead at some point?

Hamilton did essentially the same thing later and was penalized 10 seconds.

Max went too wide in turn 1, cut the corner and gave the place back to Hamilton. He was already fully ahead of Russell before that corner, so no reason to allow him to pass as well.

Charles cut the corner as well, emerged in P1 and only gave the place back to Lando, not to Hamilton. Why that remained unpunished is a mystery to me. Ham got shafted here. He would have been P2.

Hamilton's penalty was a slam dunk.

I wish all race starts would be like this. That was entertaining

The lack of coverage of on-track incidents was maddening. Apparently Liam Lawson almost killed two track workers early on in the race, which never got a single mention at all. The Sainz thing sucked. It should have either been an immediate and brief VSC once the location of the car was known, or let the race finish with just local yellow flags.

There's no shortage of cameras available at an F1 race. No excuse for these types of incidents to not have immediate video coverage.

Edited to add: Liam did absolutely nothing wrong with the track worker incident. Apparently, workers were out picking up debris in a situation where they didn't have enough time to do it safely before Liam was back on track after pitting.

Gonna bet “No” on Lando winning

Let's pray for rain in Brazil to make things spicy

I reckon the move is already on for 2027 - no way can Piastri be that far down with the team not tinkering with his car to give Lando the best parts.

This shows the brilliance of Max Verstappen who has made McLaren worried almost on his own. With another sprint race weekend coming up, I am expecting him to close the gap further with the two McLaren drivers. This WDC fight is getting more exciting with every race weekend.

After this morning's sprint, I would say the championship odds are:

Lando - 75%
Oscar - 15%
Max - 10%

Scary stuff with those crashes, thankfully there were no car-to-car impacts in either the first melee, or the crash at the end.

Omg. Max is out!
Both RB cars are horrible

Oscar really seems to have lost his edge. Excellent lap by Lando at the end there under a lot of pressure

also, Kimi looking very fast is a lot of fun for the future.

Obviously the decree has come down from on high that Lando shall win this year. Max was making it too close, and it wasn't Oscar's turn yet.

Do you really believe that or are you just bored and typing BS?

Legitimately interested

oops, wrong thread, sorry

How bout that Kimi!

Too bad. Kinda over now. Won’t be as exciting.

If that is a response to my post, I'll respond. Do I believe that Max and/or Lando are tanking? Absolutely not, no way, no how.

I believe there is a (hopefully exceedingly small), but non-zero chance that any given sporting event taking place is compromised in some way. Players on the take to take a dive. Referees on the take to put their thumbs on the scale for one side. Coaches on the take to divulge team secrets to the opposition. Hell, big tech like Google or Microsoft probably has potential access to all "secret" documents for all teams across all sports with everything being in the cloud these days. How many of their employees hate certain teams enough or love certain teams enough to take advantage of that?

Legalizing betting on sporting events in the USA only incentivizes manipulation.

With F1 cars, some tiny, tiny fraction of an inch adjustment of some key component can cause huge performance swings.

What are the odds that some random mechanic with access to Max's car was paid off by McLaren to eff it up by 0.1MM? Certainly not zero. I'd like think it is as close to 0 as mathematically possible, but that might be me being overly optimistic.
