Simple-ish spot with not a whole lot of options, but curious where people come down on the available ones.

frankly i would be very surprised if there were many guys 3! A5s in a 100 spread limit game

if there are, they won't be for long as they'll soon learn it's a fruitless exercise since the opening ranges are so tight because everyone limps

it'll work against certain players who don't fit that mold, but even then you have lots of fish in between - so you can definitely play back from the sb at the guy who opened from the btn as you know he's going to be doing that light, but all you're doing is getting him to fold while two other fish with stronger hands than your own who just limped in are calling and you see a bloated pot oop and don't even like hitting your ace because it's going to lose to A7o

it just lacks the fold equity it gets you online and you're usually dominated

It's less about it being a good play and more about younger players reading that you're "supposed" to always hyper-aggro A5s so they do it.

But to be clear, it's a minority of the players. It's just that I very rarely play a 3-bet pot against a JJ+/maybe AK type who 3-bet, and even more rarely is the hand interesting enough to bother solving.
