That UPS doesn't track deliveries more granularly than "out for delivery". I assume they're tracking the truck (if not, why not?) and they know which truck my package was loaded onto.

So, free that information, and let me know where the truck is, closer than "between 2:15 and 6:15 pm".

Also, Quicken is pretty poor software from a performance and reliability standpoint.

I was recently shocked to see that Amazon does this. In my limited experience the tracking only becomes more detailed when they get within ten stops of my house.

UPS gives more information on arrival time if you subscribe to their shipping service.

Quicken is a giant scam that just cranked up their annual fee. Black Friday deals use to be $30-$35. This year the best deal I see is $42. Retail price is now $70

My normal UPS driver gives my dog treats even if he passes us on a walk. He's a good guy.

Probably brought up before, but DJs. Not so much EDM performers, though that is also silly. But DJs at restaurants, weddings, etc.

A person physically standing there and playing recordings of other people's music is not "live music." I love a piano player in a steakhouse or a mariachi band in a Mexican place. That is live music.

99% of the time, they just play obvious songs that could be found on a Spotify list. Why is the owner of a Mexican restaurant paying someone to play a recording of the most popular Santana songs?

Why do we need someone to play September and Can't Help Falling In Love at a wedding?

Granted there are a couple times during a wedding reception where you need someone to say something and play a particular song. This adds up to about 5 minutes.

The main thing DJs seem to contribute is 1) periodically telling you who they are. 2) playing the music so loudly that conversation is difficult. I think this is mainly to create the illusion that a performance is occurring.

My problem is with them twiddling the ****ing knobs all the time like they are contributing to the music in some way, which they are absolutely not. When they actually twist a real knob to talk it's very abrupt.

farkin' knob twiddling toward supression of our human rights left with nothing but the mutual obligation hope to support each other as humans somehow and just find a way to still remain friends is what got us in this mess in the first place

X in the case when comparing to Mt. Everest would be some fraction as the shorter climb from base camp to the summit is over 11,000 ft and there are very few people who could ascend 11,000 ft in a climbing session.Last week my wife an I did a hike with 1,600 ft of elevation gain so we did about 0.14 Mt. Everest climbs. Never mind the fact that we started at 8,400 ft vs ~17,500

There's a local hike here that's about 3000 feet gain and is super popular. Recently somebody set the record by doing it I think 19 times in one day. So of course you'll get the mandatory 'equivalent of climbing Everest twice in one day's nonsense

1. What makes Everest hard is the elevation and weather conditions and financial costs and time commitment, not the elevation gain
2. Everest is not some sea level tower. It's not like there's anywhere that you can see its peak from sea level and say 'wow. Thats what 28,000 ft looks like.". The tallest mountain that you can see from Sea level I think is Denali. I've seen it like that and it looks amazing.
3. Everest is typically done in at least a 3 week expedition, featuring acclimating as well as trips up and down to higher camps over several days.

My mate who climbed Everest was there for 4 months total. Getting used to the altitude took by far the most time

He was there so long his wife had left him by the time he came home!

Bit off-topic, but this is an amazing video showing Everest's elevation.

Wish they did more with some of the scarier peaks like Nanga Parbat or Annapurna.

Tip: mute that video at the start instead of waiting 2 minutes like I did.

I learned from Sasha Grey's twitch that she goes around the world performing as a DJ.

chess twitch star Andrea Botez (younger sister of Alexandra) is also a DJ.

I think being a DJ is basically a way of pretending you do something when you really are just collecting an appearance fee to give an event some celebrity hype. Paris Hilton. Shaquille O'Neal. Etc.

Convince me otherwise.

Good house music DJs doing proper sets are worth their weight in gold.

There’s a wide breadth of DJ types. It ranges from posers who just press play to musical masterminds that meticulously live mix every element of their set, and everything in between.

As always, if you think there’s nothing to it then you should obviously try it yourself and get rich ez.

The questions are: can anyone tell the difference, and if they can tell the difference does it actually make the experience better?
