2025 NFL Season Thread: Can Uncle Rico save the Broncos or will they be Nixed?
Greetings friends.
Those of you who know me know me as a Niners fan full of fantastical levels of vitriol and rage. I hav
"Some people around the league" that seems official. How high is high? Hurts was drafted in the 2nd round. The Eagles don't have a high pick.
Oh, I get it. A day 2 pick isn't high. They are just regurgitating things that Howie has done in the past. Is there anyone with Hurts pedigree on day 2?
They canβt get rid of Hurts and they shouldnβt. Heβs been effective, even when heβs been ugly. And sometimes heβs been really very good.
Heβs definitely been less good this year but thatβs not all on him and it would be insane to move on from him.
Idk what the purpose of using a 2 on another qb would be. I would rather pay $10-15m for a Brissett/Mac Jones level back up
Hurts never impressed me.
also Randall, everyone hates the Eagles and Philly fans. I know youβre a homer but youβre also smart, so surely youβve accepted this by now?
feely
who's your prediction to win it all?

it looks to me that eagles are already on the hook for Hurts' $51m cash payment for 2026 but as long as they cut or trade him before the third day of the league year, they can get out of all further charges so would just be on the hook for the $51m in cash for 26 and also the prorated cap hit from the rest of the signing bonus and also the 24 and 25 option bonuses
I'm sure they could trade him and get back at least a #1 for him, so if they did that they'd only have a $41m dead cap hit that could be spread over 4 seasons
but again...I wouldn't do this if I were them
my POV would be Rams/Seahawks vs Bills
(something holding me back on each of Pats, Broncs, Pack)
I think if it's Rams Bills SB I would go Rams but if it's Hawks Bills SB I would go Bills.
I trust Allen the most of anyone but McVay/Stafford is a good combo and better than Allen/McDermott and Rams D is much better. Can't imagine Darnold winning 3 straight big games
so I think it's Rams
you?
Hurts has excelled pretty much everywhere. You want to start over without Lane, Barkley, AJB, etc... it's suicide.
Except that time he was benched for Tua at halftime. Haha.
I think Hurts takes more hate than he deserves. I also think he is what he is. A big and strong QB who can do a lot of things on the field most others can’t. But also a guy who struggles with accuracy, consistency and good decisions at times.
His ceiling is really good. But his floor is also frustrating. Good/great supporting cast matters for any successful QB. He hasn’t lucked into all of these wins. And he’s also been lifted by having really good players on his team.
One of the biggest things I think is missing this season is his rushing. I’m not sure if it’s play calling, coaching, or what. But part of what makes him great is designed runs and scrambles. He’s not meant to be a pure pocket passer. His rushing attempts and yards are down by quite a bit. And I’ve noticed he doesn’t have that same presence and threat in games I’ve watched.
I root for the Lions.... I'm a football fan also.

I think Rams probably.
Saying Hurts struggles with accuracy while players are dropping passes is odd. He had 2 INTs coming into Monday.
Hurts, obviously. I’d take Hurts top 5 over Tua.
But you know that wasn’t the point of my post. It was just meant to be a funny jab.
All QBs have WRs who drop passes. Hurts is pretty good at throwing deep and to the boundaries. Hurts struggles throwing over the middle of the field and short-intermediate.
My post was actually meant to be in support of Hurts.
If you think Hurts has lucked into anything, then no I really don't.
This is a person that was in the building a week after the Superbowl. I tend to like that work ethic.
He hasn’t lucked into all these wins. Read it again.
Sirianni also already stepped on this landmine. It's on him.
Saying Hurts struggles with accuracy while players are dropping passes is odd. He had 2 INTs coming into Monday.
it's not odd because both things can be true. albeit it isn't that true because Hurts' receivers have dropped WAY less balls than league average - 33rd most out of 34 qualifying QBs with only 2.2% of his passes dropped. for reference, TLaw has had 9% dropped
Hurts is marginally worse than average on 'bad throw %' - league ave is 16.3% and he throw 16.5%
relatedly, he's just below average in terms of accurate throws - league ave is 74.7 and he is 73%
so...in summary
he's less accurate than league average, he throws slightly more 'bad throws' than league average....neither are egregious.
But he's suffered the second fewest drops on his accurate balls so it's not fair/accurate/correct to blame his receivers.
I agree Siriani is part to blame (and I hate the ****, so **** him). And also that the running game hasn't helped him. But he has also played his part and deserves the scrutiny
once more though, I would absolutely stick with him if I was Philly and I'm certain Howie will

QBs generally perform better when the coach asks him to do the right thing, instead of the wrong thing.
As Monday's game made clear, Hurts is being asked to do the wrong thing far too frequently.
