[ClubWPTGold] Unofficial Thread
time for a thread imo
Yeah we are super screwed in California. Our law passed unanimously and they are super aggressive about it. Do not leave any money on any of these sites if you live in California after Dec 31st unless you hate money.
No point in even trying to warn people. I post articles and they tell me it is nonsense lol. I don't even want sweepstakes to die. I've enjoyed basically every swee
You post nonstop on every sweepstakes site thread about states getting shut down. It's so consistent that it's caused me to wonder if you're paid kickbacks by a crypto site that wants American sign ups.
Crypto sites shut down in certain states as well. There have been a few this year that received cease and desist orders and they actually exited
only losers who are unprofitable on the easiest sites in the world doompost states being removed. prove me wrong
I can't stand the "Git gud" mentality; in fact, I think it's a plight of the state of the world. "Cali, NY and other states leaving? It's out of our hands; just get good at poker. You're doomposting." This kind of thinking reminds me of people who love a certain car manfacturer and belittle those who buy elsewhere. Ford may recall their F-150s for a certain year and a Chevy man will say something like, "Ha! F-O-R-D; Found On Road Dead." Along with it being extremely unhelpful, the Chevy man now gets to feel some unearned superiority instead of what should have been an easy moment to sympathize with their fellow man (or just say nothing). And what will people say to the Chevy man when a Chevy gets recalled, or to you when you have something you perceive as a problem? "Too bad; just get good. That's how it is; get over it." This leads to a bunch of BS bickering and zero resolution for anyone.
It may be true that even with the removal of these states, the games will still be soft (although I think you underestimate how much it affects the games, but whatever). Beyond that, I truly can't make sense of any of your posts. You try and come down on people who "doompost" about the sweeps sites when the reality is they are merely sharing information and news related to the sites in the most appropriate forum as well as offering their opinion.
I'm literally from California that's why it's a doom post. Duh. Like I'm actually not going to be able to play on the site.

I never said get gud. They are the easiest sites in the world. No point crying over spilt milk just max extract until the lights turn off. The people posting news links about sites shutting out individual states is not the issue. It's the doomposters adding their negative slant ( most of them based on post history are the pathetic losers who got banned for sending in excessive sweeps letters) the removal of said states won't make the games " more soft" don't be ridiculous. But they will still be the softest in the near term until they die off completely and there is nothing you can do to affect these outcomes
Not looking forward to having to go back to Bovada where the games are rigged and bots are rampant.
Is there a Discord group for WPT Gold or anything? I see a lot of familiar names down here in the micros and I think it'd be fun to chat while we grind it out
Anyone know if a mobile app is in the works? Or at least the ability to play more than one table from my phone?

Doubt it. A lot of sites are pretty lazy about moble. It took global like 5 years to make theirs somewhat user friendly and GOLD is by far the laziest UI/software of all sites. Now that they are getting caught up in the ban I'm guessing that sinking a ton of money into mobile development is the least of their concerns. For what its worth, their current mobile is pretty decent for one table.
Sucks they’ve started to clog the tournament slate with mystery bounties and turned a bunch of normal dailies into mb.
Anyone qualify for mystery quest live? I went out about 60 spots before the top 100. GL to anyone that made it. Should be an absolute blast of a tournament.

This appears to be their pivot/business model. I wouldn't be suprised if in a year they are almost strictly running MMTs as a pathway to live major tournaments. I personally don't like this and its been one of my major complaints but I am sure there is a large enough player pool that would want this. At the very least, Gold is going to be the testing ground for this.
For all its faults I will give Gold credit for developing an identity. Whether it was to be used as a legal loophole or not, Gold is marketing itself as a training site that will reward players with major live events for their success. There are not that many sites that have a stand out identity but at least Gold is choosing a lane and sticking to it, whether they are overtly informing the public or not.
Its just not for me.
to Doug P:
I don't know if you're technically on the ClubWPT Gold payroll, but even as an ambassador you at least have a strong voice with them. There is virtually no point in sending any kind of message like this to Gold support as their offshore support reps are not helpful.
I'm a player from NY state; and our (idiot) governor Hochul just signed the sweepstakes / dual currency ban bill into law that the (idiot) legislators put together earlier this summer. Gold of course has now locked down the site and it can not be accessed from within NY state. I know Cali is likely to fall next, among however many others. I have gone through the standard "email your representatives, write them, call them, etc." but obviously they're too close minded to actually care about anything other than hundreds of thousands of dollars of campaign contribution money.
Hasn't Gold been trying to successfully pivot to be training based (seems reasonable, albeit obviously a workaround) and now apparently subscription based (also seems reasonable)? If they have removed the dual currency model and the site is used for other means, why did it shut down access to NY residents based on legislation? Are they going to offer any method of withdrawing funds other than "go to a different state where it's accessible"? We are well awate of the tech challenges they've faced (lol), but if they can detect a precise location - or even VPN use - during login, then they should just be able to allow everyone to login but instead only restrict access to play to those from allowed locations.
I'm sure there are many players like myself who have thousands or tens of thousands at risk just floating around right now. Not super baller money, but still significant! Anything you can bring up to them would be fantastic.
PS: Love all of your content.
It's really your own fault if you keep significant money on any online poker site in an unregulated state in 2025.
RNG seems beyond suspect
Tried to log on this morning and I’m getting this message…

Are we banned in cali already? I was hoping we had two more weeks.

Just reload it. I got that too. I'm just trying to log in at lunch and finally play enough there to get access to my money to get it all off. It was the first site I found and put $60 and its trapped since I only played like 10 low stake tournaments until I found global. I loggin in 10 minutes ago and got that. I reloaded it and it was fine. But yeah, California is on the clock so get in and get out.
Good luck
Anyone else having bug with the new update where it keeps giving an error message that you need to download the update to play but then update fails to download?

I finally got in - and I *think* I got an alert that they took a screen shot while I was playing?!?!?! It was very brief on my 2nd monitor - but the location icon flashed (Mac) in the top right - caught my eye - I clicked - and it said something about screenshot. Then it disappeared.
I was busy getting my ass handed to me at micro PLO (by a guy who got it in as a massive dog twice in a row for 200bb - but only had 12 hands played at the time - thus hit on both).
Sick update.
