Things that shouldn't piss you off, but do.
Feel free to add your own. I'll give two really quick.

I just googled 'is backing in better' and it gives all the reasons. Is there an equivalent argument for forwards parking ?
Like I said, I did valet parking for 5+ years. The company said that's the way it should be done. That company is still in business now. They might know something?
Clearly the ones who are against backing in are the ones who suck at driving, otherwise they'd also be backing in.
I drive a mid size SUV. I live in a downtown city apartment and my parking spot is somewhat tight. I park quickly backwards and have done that for 6+ years (ok my last vehicle was bigger). The idea of parking in my spot forwards is laughable. Only with a compact would that even be doable.
So your point specifically is for when compact cars have easy parking availability? Compact cars should be easy to park quickly either way.
Having to reverse into (against the flow as well) traffic is still desirable to avoid.
Backing in also removes the risk of scraping the front-end on the curb.
Most of the people I see back into parking spaces couldn't scrape their front end if both front wheels fell off.
Are you clowns trying to back into angled parking spots or something and that's why it's so hard for you? If backing in and driving out isn't easier for you than driving in and backing out, you're a shitty driver.

Lol, there isn't anything challenging about backing in or out. It's simply a question of how much you want to inconvenience other people.
You're allowed to be selfish, guys. Just don't pretend you do it for any other reason beyond personal preference.
What am I not getting? When you back out, you have a full lane of road/parking lot to back out to. When you back in, you only have the width of the spot.
Of course driving out is faster than backing out, but driving in a much faster than backing in.

You're wrong. Backing into spots is challenging for most people and they're bad at it. If you don't do it is because you're not confident in your abilities and we appreciate you staying in your comfort zone.
One thing I've noticed is that if I back into a spot, it sets off a pattern of other cars to also back into near by spots. I've returned to my car and often see a row of cars around me also backed in.
Backing in is inspirational!

.
Even those who are good at backing in are slower at it than going in nose first. Backing into a spot is like poker, everyone thinks they are better at it than they are.
Wait, wasn't the argument that backing out holds up traffic? The same rule applies... only if you're bad at it.
Backing out takes longer because you can't see clearly as quickly as you can pulling straight out. When I'm backing into a spot, I can see everything around me. When I'm backing out, I can't. In a busy-ish parking lot it's a lot harder to look for other vehicles, and people, that you can't see until they're right behind you or you're almost all the way out of your spot. So you back up a little, look both ways, back up a little more, look again, etc. And looking both ways repeatedly takes a lot more effort when backing up as compared to driving straight out.
If you're a competent driver who doesn't have a problem backing up, backing into a spot and driving out is always going to be quicker than the other way around. If you have trouble backing up, you're going to have problems either way.
Kinda sounds like you're bad at backing out.
I’ll remember to tip my hat the first time I encounter one of these competent drivers.
I’m sure you guys are super pros at this or whatever. But in my anecdotal experience, I’ve simply never seen any driver with your stated expertise. I know traffic is different everywhere, but it’s been a noticeable enough annoyance in my lifetime. Perhaps it shouldn’t piss me off, but it does.
Not at all. Can you see more clearly looking out of your windshield or over your shoulder(s) and out the back glass? Which way gives you a better chance of seeing a pedestrian that darts out? I want a clearer view when I'm leaving a parking spot than going into one. It's really not any more complicated than that.
And we're only talking a matter of seconds here. Do whatever you're most comfortable with and gives you the least chance at hitting someone or something.
It's almost a sure thing that you guys have wasted more time bitching in this thread than you've spent waiting for someone to back in over the past year, probably more like 5 years.
I'm certainly not here to be productive.
We should rehash leaning back airplane seats next. And tipping.
That's just silly. Seats should never be reclined.
