Why don't teams just pay really good coordinators basically head coaching money? I know some would still take jobs because of ego, but if I am Saleh, I wouldn't want to be HC again in the near future.

Now, Baltimore's situation is a little different, but I wouldn't have fired him after one bad season.

It wasn't just one bad season though. It was a culmination of coming up short year after year. I'm sure they expected to make the AFCCG more than once with Lamar, and so change had to be made. Same with the Bills who made it to the AFCCG twice.

Fun fact:

19 QBs have won MVP since 1981. All of them either made or won at least one SB. All except for

Josh and Lamar

weird re the Seahawks.

- they apparently have the highest team DVOA since records began.
- they're the #1 seeds with the league's (equal) best record
- they lost 3 games all year by a total of 9 points
- they have the highest points differential in the NFL
- they did this playing the 4th toughest schedule and beat 6 playoff teams
- they just absolutely blew out the 9ers who the week before beat the SB champs on the road

none of us really rate or trust them.

like really...they should be getting talked about as a juggernaut. But the distrust of Darnold and their lack of any really high profile players plus the fact they're tucked away in a small market means they're just 'there' and not really being given the respect they should get

Speaking of DVOA.

Still hard to trust Darnold, since he didn’t have to do much on Saturday. He might not have to between the defense and running game.

really nice chart - thanks for the share.

although it seems to suggest that Seahawks aren't highest dvoa ever

also of note..the higher DVOA team won all but one of those games

Well sorry to disappoint everyone, but I won't be making any bets on Miami next season.

Lol.

Sorry newguy.

It’ll be even more pain if McDaniel goes to Buffalo.

The Titans should be the ultimate cautionary tale of why you shouldn't just fire a HC because they aren't as successful as you wanted them to be. Vrabel has completely turned a Pats team around and the Titans suck. Teams need to look in the mirror and see whether it is the coach or personnel, and it was pretty obvious what the problem was in Tennessee.

Some teams just aren't serious organizations. The Titans, Bengals, and Raiders fall into this category.

e.g. Zac Taylor should've fired years ago, but as long as he still has guaranteed money on his contract (2027), he'll still be around as the owners have shown huge aversion to spending money (e.g. even on food and facilities for players).

Raiders have the opposite problem.

It’s a tough life as an NFL owner when you aren’t even worth a whole billion.

McDermott fired

And Beane promoted to President and gets to keep GM duties, not sure how he managed that.

And lol at the Lions hiring the failed Cardinals OC

The worst part is they needn't to rush to make the hire. They could've interviewed Sean, who I wasn't in love with, but would've much preferred over Hafley.

Robert Kraft thinks it's tough

also...Robert Kraft wealth estimate back in 2024 was $11bn.

also also...Patriots annual revenue estimates at $600m.

Bobby K should stfu

why would McDermott want to go to the Dolphins? It's a bad job and he wouldn't want to get his ass kicked twice a year by the team that just fired him

Saleh is a brave man.

Lol Nagy.

They will always remember Saleh's Titans.

At least we can cross the Titans off for BestBall next season.

Daboll getting the Bills HC job (34c favorite on Kalshi) leads me to believe Josh had some say in the decision.

Probably a lot of say.

Kubiak now 37c favorite for Raiders HC job. I like the fit, but I prefer Klayton Adams.

give the crying QB man the coach he wants

Yeah, I mean Sean had a great indoor stadium record to look forward to. I can't see any reason to fire him (other than making arguably the worst coaching decision OAT and other dumb things).

It’s understandable to fire him but it’s a pretty bleak coaching candidate group

You’d think they thought of that before they fired him and have a plan because otherwise…the best two candidates have probably gone and I think there’s a decent argument that the next 3-4 years will be the peak of Allen as he doesn’t seem to be a guy who’ll survive til his late 30s so it’s a huge decoy they have now

I wonder if they might try to trade for someone

It was all Brandon Beane
