Many people also think this way. Again, you keep acting like you’re heroically dropping a knowledge bomb when pointing out something obvious.

Hot take: North Korea is "freer" and "less authoritarian" than the USA. Discuss.

Actually, for research purposes, perhaps you should visit there first? Maybe see if you can grab a poster of Dear Leader as a keepsake.

And yet, Victor chooses to live in USA#1. Curious.

right, in the 1930s I selected a USAian mother and father

Oh I get that you're trying to backpedal by saying that you were being sarcastic and didn't REALLY mean that of course...😀

everything I dont like is Russian propaganda: a child's guide to understanding the world.

Russian propaganda falsely claimed Zelensky was a coke addict. You parroted it. Ergo you uncritically accept Kremlin propaganda...see how that works?

no, I mean that there is just as much a chance that MI6 killed Navalny as there is that Russia killed him with frog juice. both are baseless. see how rhetoric works? no, ofc you dont.

and I got the Zelensky stuff from a Ukrainian actually. you can read about it here. Ill give you a sub if its paywalled even. https://eventsinukraine.substack.com/p/m...

Yeah, it was a callback to me posting that very comic to Victor.

There are levels, here.

bc I dont want to risk getting thrown in jail by the Zio-fascist pedophile cannibals than run our country.

and its not like the USA and the West in general and its allies arent tremendously authoritarian. you take it for granted that the country with the largest prison population in history is somehow better than these other countries. I dont buy it automatically. ffs, Venezuela let traitors like Guiado and Lopez walk around for years trying to destroy the country and sell it out

Riiight and the Kremlin propagating this myth is just a meaningless coincidence, okay.

"USAian" is hilarious.

I took it from a former 2p2 poster that d2 spent years posting with. I would say he is acting ignorant but I really dont think its an act at this point.

It was relatively common to see broken car windows in previous decades, especially in the era in which a lot of people had radar detectors on their dashes and high end car stereos that were relatively easy to pop out. I remember walking along the streets of Philly in the 1990s with a friend who lived in Philly and noticing that a notch had been cut out of 10 or 15 license plat

agreed, it's not some brand new phenomenon

but we've had two car break-ins in our own ballard driveway in six months, not parked downtown overnight, not by a stadium, our driveway. that's not 90s radar detector nostalgia, that's present tense annoyance

and the broader point isn't "crime never existed before" it's that policy choices have downstream effects. when you create a situation with a high concentration of neets and no clear path upward, petty theft is not some mysterious sociological puzzle - you simply can't have a large population of idle, broke people with no money and zero skin in the game and not expect that thing to happen.

i'm not talking about violent mobs, i'm talking about people looking for loose change in your glovebox because the ladder to employment is nonexistent. so yeah, car windows got smashed in the 90s too. but when it's your driveway twice in six months, it stops feeling like a trivia anecdote and starts feeling like governance quality matters

the Ukrainian blogger (Peter korotaev) is relying on strana which is a Ukrainian newspaper that is blocked in both Russia and Ukraine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strana.ua

maybe hes a super secret Russian agent I dunno. he seems a lot more reliable than anyone else.

I have no idea who you are talking about, I wasn't the one who said anything about your use of USAian, I have no idea what it is I'm supposedly ignorant about, and you clearly have brain worms or something.

So if you live in Nazi Germany and benefited from Nazi Germany, you would not go to another country to fight the Axis of Evil?

Great for you both to admit that you would be on the side of the Nazis in WW2 if you were born in Germany, or at least someone who stands by and laughs as others try to resist and get jailed as political prisoners.

(This is an internal critique, I don’t think the USA is a Nazi state.)

There are a variety of criticisms that Victor deserves, but "you are a hypocrite for not leaving the U.S." is one of the weakest imo, especially without additional information that he has no obligation to provide. It isn't a trivial thing to pack up and move permanently to another country. In many cases, it isn't even possible. And I don't think choosing to remain in the country where you were born amounts to an implicit endorsement of your country's government just because you pay taxes. When you start volunteering for nationalistic wars or snitching on your neighbors to the Stasi, then you obviously are in a different category.

Sure it isn’t trivial. Neither is the designation of the US being the most genocidal white supremacist state. I’m sorry but who has sacrificed less for their revolution than American leftists that say this stuff? If you look at the model of their ideal revolutionaries, minimum leaving the country to organize against it, all the way up to actual revolutionary militias are what’s called for. I’m holding Victor to the standard that he has publicly stated he admires.

If you’re a liberal who believes in nonviolent resistance in addition to liberal revolutionary tactics depending on the circumstances, these standards obviously don’t apply.

Also we are free to disagree on what criticisms are weak or not weak. The purpose of the criticism is to parody the absurdity of what he says about the pedophile cannibal Nazi cabal that he thinks represents USA, as well as the tactics that he endorses from the Houthis, Russians, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Soviets. It’s not a criticism in a vacuum of all people who call the US genocidal or white supremacist.

Right, it’s not easy to move countries. But, that’s not even my beef with him remaining here. It’s his steadfast stance that nuance doesn’t exist, despite embodying it himself.

Everyone in America is guilty of supporting genocide, but Victor himself isn’t guilty because he criticizes the regime online. That’s why I hammered him on the tax thing, because he wouldn’t admit the hypocrisy. The guy doesn’t even attempt to shuffle the walk that he (very loudly) talks.

Anyone who thinks Victor is a modern day Che Guevera because he posts a bunch of screaming hot leftist takes on the internet is of course an idiot.

Also we are free to disagree on what criticisms are weak or not weak.

Of course. I don't think I've ever suggested that I have some special authority here.

Bolded is an exceedingly fair criticism imo.
