2026 Formula 1 - I Love A Parade! #TheRealRacesAreNowOnSaturdays
Low expectations.
Standard Ferrari strategy lols robber us of a closer race. But I thought a very promising 1st GP
I wonder how Hamilton feels right now. He seemed to come into the season with a fresh outlook and attitude, and then Ferrari does Ferrari strat things immediately.
The first stint before the first VSC where the lead was changing hands repeatedly was quite entertaining.
Oscar crashing during the drive to the start line was nuts. Hadjar's engine dying was very unfortunate. Cadillac puttering around was disappointing but not completely unexpected. Aston Martin's struggles were known in advance. Still not sure what happened with Hulkenberg's car.
The performance disparity between teams is gigantic and likely will continue for a good portion of this season.
All in all, it was a race that had lots of interesting moments early on. I was hoping Max could have finished a little higher than he did, but that's all the car had in it it seems.
the talk about Ferrari strategy is probably fair but absolutely wouldn't change the outcome. Mercedes was the quicker car by far
My F1 subscription is ending March 14th and I'm not renewing. Just my little protest against these new rules. I'll watch the highlights on YouTube or find some illegal stream
Also found out how DAZN makes life difficult if you want to cancel, because I was forced to chat with a support agent or call a number to cancel.
**** them
It's horrible. We need to go back to the old engines - Audi, Mercedes and Ford/Red Bull won't like that but the product is so artificial now. It is all about the skill in saving the battery and dispatching it at the optimal moment.

Fossilkid touched on this in his earlier post. The race start was nuts. Liam Lawson was basically motionless while cars behind him narrowly avoided crashing into him. This new 50/50 battery power split nonsense is accomplishing nothing productive.
"Sustainability" my ass. They use how much fossil fuel and expel how much CO2 into the atmosphere transporting thousands of people and hundreds of tons of equipment around the world numerous times over the course of a season, only to try to race "greener" on Sundays? That's like having an industrial plant that dumps raw waste through a 4 foot diameter culvert into a nearby river 24/7, but then forces it's employees to drink their own filtered urine for the sake of the environment.
Disagree - I see it as a 1-2 Mercedes even if Ferrari pits during the first VSC
The gaps today in the sprint qualifying are again very concerning for the competitive balance
kind of inevitable but sad from a sporting perspective.
Should bring in Germany and France then as replacement events

The sport has honestly been going too woke for at least 5 years now so it is no surprise that the racing product has turned out like it has. All led by Vettel too - what a hypocrite.
Non purist or not, but I really enjoyed all the overtaking in the sprint race
Also enjoying seeing a switch of teams at the top of the grid and also seeing the battles between teammates in totally new cars.
I hope McLaren and Red Bull can get closer over the coming GP
If we're gonna have this battery crap, then it could at least be made more interesting by showing battery level graphics so we see can what type of strats different drivers are employing. Who's charging where, respective battery levels when overtakes are made, etc.
Very impressive by Kimi
Kimi Antonelli, youngest driver:
Pole Position (by 20mo over Vettel)
Win from pole position
Fastest Lap
Hat trick
2nd youngest driver:
Win (8mo older than Max)
I seriously doubt Max drives F1 in 2027. I suspect he doesn't even finish out this season. He's been frank in the past about walking away from the sport when it isn't fun, and the first two race weekends clearly have not been fun for Max.
Again, the back and forth between Mercedes and Ferrari in the opening laps was fun to watch. But it is clear that Mercedes is the only Tier 1 car. Ferrari is tier 1.25. McLaren and Red Bull are like tier 1.5.
Then, Haas, Alpine, and Racing Bulls are tier 2.
Audi and Williams are tier 2.5.
Cadillac and Aston Martin are tier 3.
The Achilles heel this entire season seems like it is going to be battery/engine/power unit reliability. Any team that can dodge DNF's has the ability of outperforming a higher tier team. Except for Mercedes, of course, who already seem destined for a runaway season. Hopefully Kimi keeps the driver's championship close enough to make late season races matter.
April will show which team has the talent to upgrade and improve development on the car as they are gifted this long break.
Obv, sucks for Merc as they’ll just eat up the field and gobble max points. Regardless, they are by far superior, will be champs anyway.
I’m more interested to see what kind of magic, the perceived big brains can pull off in April.
Red Bull: MUST fix their car to keep Max.
James Vowles: Did well last year, Williams were 5th this year. On paper, they should be ahead of Alpine. Both Merc PU’s
All eyes on Newey! I’m rooting for him.
Max pulled a dick move and wouldn't allow a press conference to start until a specific reporter left the room. Apparently that reported asked Max a question at the end of the season last year about his infamous race where he lost his temper and ended up finishing 10th, and how much that result impacted his failure to win the driver's championship. Totally legit question given the circumstances, and a classless move by Max IMO.
Totally agree, albeit I also kind of admire the petulance from Max tbh

Totally understandable move. If some journalist cherry picks the one race out of 25 where you did bad and did so with a smug British face, just to bring up **** and try and needle Max, you deserve that reaction.
British press are terribly biased and drivers don't have to put up with their idiotic questions

and when Trump or someone else ejects a journalist he doesn’t like from a press conference for asking a question they don’t like, you support that too?

To clarify. This reporter asked Max this question months ago, at the end of last season. They didn't just ask Max about it now. Had they just asked about it now, it would be an idiotic question. Max has apparently held a grudge against this reporter since then.
And that cherry picked race is probably the only time Max has spazzzzed behind the wheel and cost himself significant points, completely because of his own actions. If that isn't a question that should be asked, then F1 shouldn't have pressers at all.
Kimi driving well and running so good. That safety car probably won him this race.
Rooting for Oscar though.
Geez. This is really boring now
The only thing making this season somewhat interesting is the Mercedes always getting artificially shuffled back in the pack every start of the race. Otherwise they'd just be easily driving away.
Over a month until Miami so lets hope there are some major tweaks to the rules packages otherwise they risk alienating a huge portion of their most loyal fans with this "racing".
Also sucks having Max be in a completely useless car and Alonso doing practice laps in the Aston Martin.

I hate to say it, but I think someone is going to get hurt by the massive delta in start time/acceleration.

I'm assuming most the teams will use this opportunity to work on their setups. I would be genuinely curious how Max would perform in a Racing Bull.
I still think Max walks away from F1 after this year, possibly before the final race of the season.
Adrian Newey?
Spoiler
Adrian Phooey.
