Anyone, and I mean anyone, who puts money on that site fully deserves to lose it.

The amount of insider trading that goes on there is unprecedented and they know it and they’re using flimsy loopholes to stay out of the DOJ’s way.

A change in leadership in America and those kind of sites will have their own Black Friday.

Criminal charges in state court against a company who's business was declared legal in federal court? I don't see how this sticks.

Also the article mentions the prediction markets have insider trading. So, it's not gambling then.

If you’re a sharp and stuck in a limited market, it’s just math. Example: run $2k → $50k, keep only ~$5k on site, withdraw aggressively. If $5k gets frozen, that’s effectively your “fee” for access—you’re still up ~$45k.The bigger point is that it’s not fair to say “anyone” using these sites “deserves” to lose everything. For a lot of sharps, it’s a calculated, managed ri

Well, the government is always opposed to gambling when they don't get a cut.

Mods might want to take a look at banning PresidentDuece, imo.

I mean, I put him on Ignore after a single interaction and I know some others have as well, but he's kinda taken over every thread with his *******ness and even his quoted posts from other posters clog up my feed. I have zero issue with alternative ways of thinking (I think I clearly fall into that category too) but I don't think the forum should have to put up with his constant *******ness. Good chance he may be a previously banned poster too?

Report his posts that you have issues with.

Dood's only been posting for a couple of weeks; I'm pretty sure you'll have a hard time finding a single post that isn't incredibly rude / insulting / belittling / condescending (possibly trolling although I'm giving the benefit of the doubt).

As I say, I put him on Ignore almost immediately, but he's basically incited a riot in every thread and it's getting tiresome.

ETA: His interactions with new green (wo)man Java are particularly cringe. Java is one of the few mods found in strat threads anymore and I'm assuming she doesn't want to wave the banhammer in her first ~month, but it is well warranted, imo.

honestly the sports side has been relatively stable just from sheer year-round volume, but knock on wood lol — variance and lifestyle inflation are definitely real and not something to underestimate. also minimal responsibilities helpthat said, one thing that’s helped a lot is leveraging play into comps — took some time and creativity lol but i’ve got ~300+ free nights booked t

i hear ya but i really only got 2 years of good income out of it from the confines of my home - after that i'd burned through all my legal outs and despite literally having multiple agents to get me accounts, burned through most of my options

was forced to take the show on the road where i pivoted to hitting kiosks directly to get down anonymously as you are currently doing

i also think you're on a much shorter leash than i was given that you're doing everything off public info, all it takes is one other person attacking the same outs you attack to kill the edge

would def look to originate (you're definitely dedicated enough to do it) if i were you

another thing, this nomadic lifestyle may be romantic now, but when you're in your 30s seeing all your friends and family get promoted, buy houses, have beautiful families and loving relationships and you're still bouncing around from casino to casino as a single nomad it starts wearing pretty thin

You need to understand that you’re not in a fair marketplace. You can be as sharp as you like - insiders are the only ones winning. It’s a corrupt market and if you’re dumb enough to put money on there, you are all but guaranteed to lose it… unless of course you’re an insider.

Java’s a mod now? Cool!

I think I owe her a glass of wine next time we’re playing PLO at Aria.

i'm with you, but this is only true for certain markets

ie if you're wagering on the set list for the halftime superbowl, you're going to get crushed by the hundreds of people working on the show

if you're wagering on how hot LA will be next week, while you are likely facing off against a bunch of climate scientists who know their stuff better than you, it's still viable

if you're wagering on who will win march madness, you'll absolutely get a better price than the what sportsbooks will offer and the insider information is already accurately priced in

That may be true for some markets, but sports is a different animal. Pricing is sharper, liquidity is higher, and edges actually exist. It’s not about insiders—it’s about whether your edge and volume justify the risk of things occasionally going sideways.

I've gotten one infraction here and it was for suggesting that someone be banned for posting drunken screeds with no poker relevance whatsoever.

Apparently it's against the rules to lobby for someone's banning.

It's a good thing irony can't hurt people. I'd be dead.

RIP Chuck Norris.

We’re all in danger now.

Andy moves from the about-to-be dealt big blind to across the table to seat 1 to the left of dealer Angela where he'll have to post.

Tom limps in to the left of Angela.

Andy likely doesn't really see any of the action to the left of Angela and throws out a chip to post.

I mistakenly think that's his action so I overlimp next in. Before Andy can protest, Harry also quickly overlimps. "Hey, wait guys, it's my action, I haven't had my option yet!" says Andy.

Angela the dealer sees all the limps and disagrees with Andy, saying he already had his option and limped. Andy protests, "What, I wasn't given any option? You never gave me an option. All I did was post. It's my option." Angela argues he no longer has the option due to the action unfolding behind him. I actually argue on behalf of Andy, stating my accidental out-of-turn play shouldn't negate his option. Angela disagrees.

Self-serving Harry now speaks up. "No no, he limped, he limped. Play on".

Self-serving Raj in the BB now loudly declares "Misdeal!" and gathers his piece of cheese hand dealt to him as if to give it back to the dealer.

The argument continues for a minute or so in this big game of $1 and $3 blinds. The bewildered limper Tom finally says "I don't care what we do, so long as we do something!".

I offer what I think is a fair solution, and propose Harry and I take back our limps and the action goes to Andy. Fair? Harry takes back his limp. But Angela the dealer isn't having it and Raj is still calling for a misdeal, so the floor is called.

Sigh.

Floorman Stephen comes over and hears 5 different stories from 5 different people all at the same time attempting to explain the same event. Exasperated, he points to me and Harry and says "you and you, take your limps back, and the action is now on Andy", where he then points at Andy and says "Andy, it's your option".

Andy sits back in his chair and ponders for a moment, then eventually leans forward and finally makes his decision, where he...

Checks his option.

I'm fairly certain I've not watched one single anything that had Chuck Norris in it. Weird?

lol gg that's hilarious 😀

i absolutely hate the people who eagerly call for a misdeal anytime anything goes down and they have bad cards

I'm fairly certain 90% of the reason I play poker is just for the lolstories.

I've never watched a Chuck Norris movie either

Walker, Texas Ranger was good. I once bingewatched it on a cross country plane trip.
