you seem really mad that Iran is hitting Israel. why do you want to protect Israel so much when they are killing 100s a day in Lebanon, after spending over 2 years killing 100s a day in Palestine?
its clear that you cant negotiate with them, as they have killed negotiators from Lebanon, Palestine, and Iran multiple times the last 3 years.

Are you saying starting a war with Iran, then having to lift sanctions on Iran because you didn't plan for oil supply shock that everyone else knew would happen is some kinda mark of incompetence?
Weird things happen when realpolitik meets war, especially if you mix in a bunch of idiots who are not particularly proficient at either.
The world runs on oil. It is not a status quo I am particularly happy about, but it is reality. The Strait of Hormuz is important enough for the world's oil supply to grind the world economy to an extremely painful crawl if closure continues. Releasing strategic reserves is a stop-gap measure, and the effect can only last weeks.
For liquid gas it is even worse, as gas does not store well and only a few countries have infrastructure to store reserves, and even for those who do, the amount is not particularly meaningful. In addition, nitrate-based fertilizer supply will also be badly hit, which will impact the northern hemisphere hard as we are entering spring and planting season.
Anyway, the war fairly early on entered that awkward phase were both sides thought they were winning. This has matured to the even more awkward phase where they think the other side shares their view.
For the time being, and the way the game has been played, the US has given the Iranian regime possession of the ball. That can change, but they are still in control of the Strait and it will take more than missiles and an air campaign to change that. As for regime change, don't expect the Iranian opposition to set aside their (drastic) differences, organize and rush unarmed to the streets while the regime is in full mobilization.

In fairness Netanyahu would probably like that too. Would give Israel the pretense to send Iran back to the Stone Ages. Which Israel is very capable of at this point with Iran having no air defense.
Very weird dynamic where Israel has to show restraint, because Iran is threatening to retaliate against civilian infrastructure of other nations that are also enemies of Israel.
Will be interesting how things progress if things settle down on every other front, and Israel and Iran are still fighting. Israel has been very careful not to degrade Iranian infrastructure, but no reason this has to continue. Especially if everyone else has left the fight.
I suspect Iran will withdraw from the field, not giving Israel pretense to continue. And Israel will just focus on dismantling their proxy Hezbollah. While they do nothing about it.
