commish announced a bid deadline (super important because our unique draft process (a draft which usually takes 2-3 weeks) that ensures a lot of really good players that everyone wants are not taken in draft but taken in this bidding round instead) in a splinter email thread that several of us missed
i asked to submit late when i realized what happened, at that time the results were still unpublished so people could have freely gotten them in without gaining any competitive edge, nor were we in any logistic rush as opening day was still a bit far away
commish just said lol no and immediately blasted the results to the whole league making it impossible to redo as now everyone knows what the bids were so it'd have disastrous ramification
not a money league, no reason to be that rigid about it - if he just paused for a minute and the thing were discussed and then i was told no i wouldn't have been nearly as upset
definitely felt like a "oh wow this is great for those who got bids in" kind of mentality where people were totally fine with a small group of managers starting off the season from a huge disadvantage
i couldn't stay in that league after that
Last time I was in a FF league... I deleted my team in week 5, then 2 others did the same thing. And it basically snap-folded a 15 year league.
... because the Commish, who was only an acquaintance and a grade A douchebag, bragged in a group chat about banging the wife of one of the other guys in the league.
There were fireworks. Surprisingly, no one got arrested. Thought FOR SURE that the Commish was gonna get his azz beat. He ended up getting worse in the end.

That’s pretty lame, especially if multiple people missed it. If you were the only one, I’d understand (but would still allow late submissions).
