I think The Dress Up Gang is a TV show now. I found it on YouTube a long time ago. It's great if you like absurd humor where they add drama to mundane situations.

finished the madison

it was good. not great. kurt Russell was fine. his performance felt off at first, but then it was fine. or maybe it was just me.

Madison owned slaves

Born to Bowl is ****ing fantastic. HBO max. Currently at 8.2. The Simonsen story in ep2 is even worse than it’s portrayed. He slept with friends and in the bowling alley from around age 15. Belmont is a bitch and I’m glad they showed it.

More like WTF St Louis, amirite?

Rooster is the funniest show on HBO in years. Definitely Steve Carrells best of his career.

Side thought. What are the best HBO comedies of this century? I'm sure I'm missing some. Hard no to the "hits" I left out so far. Not in order.

Rooster
Vice Principals
Eastbound and Down
Life and Times of Tim
Sopranos
Deadwood
Succession
Barry
Silicon Valley
Curb
Hello Ladies
Summer Heights High

Rooster is terrible. I thought you were being sarcastic.

interesting you forgot veep. probably my personal favorite

Finished a rewatch of Eastbound And Down last week and will be starting a Vice Principals rewatch tonight. Of all of these, EB&D, Barry and Silicon Valley are my favorites, as far as "sitcoms" go, but like Filthy, Veep is my overall favorite HBO comedy. Deadwood is my favorite HBO show but I wouldn't consider it a comedy at all. Same with Succession, which is probably #2 or #3 on my favorites list.

East Bound and Down is such a good show but Stevie was really hard for me to watch the most recent watch through. Was a caricature of the worst person imaginable but is kind of believable as a person now

Lucky Louie, but it was only on for one season.

I really like Rooster on HBO.

A simple comedy with a easy to follow story, fun characters and an always great Steve Carell.

Stevie, the Indian guy, and Will Ferrell(most overrated comedian ever) are all annoying as ****. McBride carries the show.

I liked East Bound and Down, but can only handle McBride in small doses before he begins to grate.

This. Though it may have transformed (through no intention of its own) into a documentary.

Same. He's funny, but the exact same character in every show he's in.

I'm trying to rewatch breaking bad, and it does not hold up well.

the parts with white and Pinkman are fantastic, but the parts with the white family are horrible, unwatchable, have to skip over them. so like half of the show is so bad you have to skip over it.

by filthyvermin m

also hank's partner, I think his name is Gomez? he's maybe the worst actor i've ever seen

it truly is astonishing how consistently bad your takes are

yeah the sidekicks were too unbearable for me

i had to fastforward through all will ferrell stuff - i hated him in snl, grew a new appreciation for him after seeing old school and ebd taught me to hate him again

It’s tonally all over the place and relies heavily on pretty stale boomer vs Gen Z cliches. Amazing cast that could do so much more with better writing.

I didn’t like most of the side characters in EB&D while it was airing but on this rewatch, I absolutely loved them and hated Kenny, which I didn’t hate as much live…. Weird lol

The side characters in Eastbound are the 2nd best part of the show. The best part are the bloopers.

Agreed. I think I just wasn’t prepared for the absurdity of them. It’s a show that you sort of have to learn how to watch. Succession was the same for me.

I wonder how much eastbound was improvised? I’ve seen bloopers where Danny McBride can’t keep it together, especially the scenes with Aaron.

I think it was:

Spoiler
Show

Suicide

But have heard some theories that it could be:

Spoiler
Show

The son or Bateman’s wife.

I’m good with any and all possibilities. It’s such a weird but great show. I was already in before finding out that it’s from the creator of Patriot, which is one of my favorite short lived shows.

I think your 1st thoery is correct. I figured it out(i think) early in this last episode. Here's my theory...

Spoiler
Show

He killed himself after seeing the woman he loves and his best friend that he loves together. The scratched out faces on his playgirl pic is him being ashamed he's not the sexy man he once was that his wife fell in love with. Maybe he tried to make it not look like suicide so his wife could collect the life insurance money. Maybe since Bateman was last seen with him he could try to make it look like Bateman murdered him since he betrayed him. Though doubt he'd do that as he loved them both and he's a good guy. I can't see it being the kid or bateman's wife. If not suicide my 1st thought it was the wife umpire that manipulated Bateman into having her husband get life insurance, then framing him for the muder so she could collect the life insurance money and be done with the man she didn't love anymore. Now that i think about it it being her is my next best guess. Sounds right now. Looks too obvious though like they want us to think that it's her or Bateman.

Good show btw.
