In the fall of the Ottomans and occupation by British and French, The Arab world went through a very strong ethno-nationalist movement. Arabs in Gulf countries absolutely felt obligated to rush in for ethno-nationalist reasons. The secular ethno-nationalist movements actually tied their legitimacy towards promises to conquer Israel, and lost a lot of legitimacy when they were unable to deliver. Ushering in Islamist movements.

It seems this all stems from a report that an Palestinian prisoner tried to smuggle contraband up his anus (which prisoners everywhere have been doing for a long time), injured himself doing it, and was treated.
And then this giant, made up propaganda campaign of a sexual assault happened. But there is nothing there. It is 99% made up bullshit.
Or at least that is what Israel is claiming. But we have no real information one way or another. We just all see and hear what we want to.

I dont think anyone is arguing the prison guards weren't being very heavy handed and rough with the prisoners. The prison was infamously known for that. However, the investigation was for sexual assault, which there was no clear evidence of. And certainly no smoking gun video. Believing there is seems to be mass psychosis on your all part.

I think the mandatory clause was taken out last week after pressure from Netanyahu's office and Shin Bet (on the grounds that it would make Israel look bad), so judges can still commute the penalty, and the clause specifying death only if the victims of the terrorist act were 'Israeli citizens' has also apparently gone, for the same political reason.
The judicial discretion and citizenship amendments are linked. Instead of Jewish settler terrorists who murder Arab non-citizens automatically getting off the death penalty, they will now benefit from the discretion clause. So the effect may be the same in practice, but it looks a bit better on paper.

I think you’re right. They say the Messiah will be here in our lifetime. This obviously would create the conditions for the third Temple to be built. It makes perfect sense. The Jews were there over 600 years BI. Obviously the two state solution was dead on arrival by the Muslims.
