After a weekend of binge watching old episodes of Nigella Lawson on youtube, I have decided that I need to acquire what she calls a "laguerita" at the earliest opportunity-- a small bottle of beer, a shot of tequila, a shot of orange liqueur, a shot of bottled sweetened lime juice, and the juice of a fresh lime.
that sounds great!
but if it's me, I'm doing it without the the orange liqueur, bottled sweetened lime juice, or the beer

Unfortunately it won't be this weekend--Dustin aka Luckbox is in town and we were supposed to get together, but I seem to have come down with a miserable case of the flu. :(

I bought a $300 Chinese ebike off Amazon brand Funhang. Took me an hour to unbox and assemble and I was out on the road. Instructions were actually clear and I had no issues.
Afaict the thing is top top. I need to adjust the brakes but it's basically a great lil moped right out of the box. Has pedal assist levels 1-5. Also has a throttle. If I dime the throttle on level ground without pedaling it goes 21 MPH. Perfectly comfortable for big me at six feet tall two hundred thirty or so pounds.
Idk how they do it. Highest recommendation.

I haven't watched baseball since 1994, but a few weeks ago there were many highlights of umpires getting sonned by ABS and I found that amusing. Why are umps still calling balls and strikes at all.
The last Reds Opening Day I went to, the Home Plate Umpire had a heart attack and died right on the field. John McSherry iirc.
I used to be a massive baseball fan, you have no idea. My daughter was born in September, in April she was at the games. George Will Men at Work was my favorite baseball book. It's probably out of date by now, sabermetrics and such were just coming on the scene then. Lot of great stories though.
I also used to be a huge fan. Went to at least 10 games every season. Now I can't remember the last game I went to. It was an Opening Day, just don't remember which year. I know it was pre covid because I have yet to set foot in the new ballpark that opened in 2020.

one year, I made it to just about every single giants home game. we would park on the street to avoid paying for parking, climb down a cliff to get to the stadium, get $3 nosebleed tickets, then just sit in great seats anyway, cuz the stadium was always pretty empty.
I played stat-o-matic baseball card game with dice. I won the western regional one year, but lost the world championships in new Orleans.
when I was 16 I got so good at baseball that it was a dream come true. I had just been wishing and wishing all the time that one day, I would be able to do the things on the field to crush, and then I did!
when I was 18 I had a big time try out, and I was doing great, but in the middle of it.... It just kind of hit me that this is an absurd thing to be devoting my life to. it's a silly game we play with a ball. and most of the guys who play are huge asshats.
like really, I was so obsessed that it was my life's passion, from ages 8-18... and on that field I was still totally obsesses one minute, and then the next minute I was just over it. haven't been a fan since.
every now and then I will see some highlights, or see some stats, and I even listen to radio broadcast sometimes... btw gaints broadcasters Duane kiper and Mike krukow are the best to ever do it. Duane kiper just turned down 26 million dollars from ESPN cuz he wanted to keep doing the giant's games.

In my youth I went to a tryout held by the Cincinnati Reds. I have no idea why the Reds held a tryout in Michigan, but there was no way I was going to miss it. Was not close to good enough to earn an offer, though.
It would be interesting to know if teenage me would listen to old man me (if I could go back in time) and do what needed to be done to actually have a chance.
