President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
Anyone who supported Trump is either an idiot or an *******. There are no other options.
Carlson knows this, and wants to position himself in the “idiot” camp because it is more palatable and empathy-inducing than being in the “*******” camp.
These people should be forever shunned. They can all **** right off.
Ironically, this is a template of a Trump TruthSocial post.
Here are the key components:
1. Name someone you hate.
2, Call the person an idiot or a
3. Call people who like this person idiots and/or
4. Call for the shunning of the person and their supporters.
5. Tell them to
6. Allow no possibility of forgiveness for those folks.
Lather, rinse, repeat.....
Choose your enemies carefully; you may soon become just like them.
The Supreme Court decided in Rucho v. Common Cause (with all four liberal justices in dissent) that partisan gerrymandering was a political question that could not be resolved on constitutional grounds. As Trolly notes, that decision kicked off more aggressive gerrymandering than we had seen in the past, especially by Republicans in Texas. Constitutional challenges on the ground that gerrymandering was motived by race rather than partisanship remain theoretically possible, but the SCOTUS's decision in Abbott in 2025 made it clear that it would be almost impossible for a challenger to meet its burden on an equal protection theory with this SCOTUS. (As an aside, in the old days, gerrymandering used to be more political dark art than science. Now it is largely informed by AI-driven modeling.)
Based on the SCOTUS law as it sits right now, any reform would have to take the form of either federal or state legislation. In either case, the hurdles are significant. In essence, you need one party to be in full control of government, and to use that power to prevent either party from abusing the process of redrawing electoral maps. The problem, of course, is that the period when Party X power is also the period when it is most tempting for Party X to use that power to redraw maps in its favor.
Here is an article that explains things in more detail.

Wrong. As usual.
There is zero excuse for supporting Trump. None. Other than being an idiot or an *******. Serious, measured people do not support Trump. They abandoned him long ago, assuming they ever got on board with him in the 1st place.
Anyone still on board with this shitbag is a shitbag themselves. Just own it. Double down on being a douche, just like your orange god DoucheDonny does.
eliminate district-based representation and replace it with body-wide proportional representation of registered parties
every vote then counts regardless of where you live or who's in power
It's not even "fighting back" it's just proceeding within the rules as defined. The right wanted gerrymandering to be acceptable, so now the left is proceeding as if gerrymandering is acceptable. Nothing to see here. If gerrymandering were completely outlawed and all district maps were redrawn fairly, I'm quite certain the left would be for it and the right would be against it,
Yeah if this gets republicans to agree to more non partisan drawn districts governed by national guidelines like dems have proposed great. I don’t think there was any other way to get republicans to even consider it. And since republicans states were already so gerrymandered they don’t have as much to gain as Dems from this mid cycle redistributing. Also not ideal for republicans when they are down so much in generic ballot.

Thank you for substantiating my point.
By the way, I'm NOT still on board with Trump. Last week I literally posted he should be impeached.
addendum: In the past year or so, about 90% of my posts are criticisms of him.
Remember how maga voted for trump because he would be much better for the economy? Good times.

President Trump’s fiscal policies are becoming increasingly unpopular amid economic strains resulting from the Iran war, according to new polling.
The Associated Press-NORC Research Center survey, released Wednesday, showed the president’s economic approval rating slumped down to 30 percent this month. This is an 8-point decrease from March and 9-point fall from February.
The April data also marks a new low grade for the president on his handling of the economy, which was a cornerstone of his 2024 presidential campaign. Trump previously hit a 31 percent approval rating on the issue of the economy last December.
Additionally, only 33 percent of respondents in the AP-NORC poll indicated support for his overall job performance, a decrease from 38 percent last month.
Thank you for substantiating my point.

So? I’m not POTUS.
You’ve already conceded that you’re an idiot for supporting Trump.
Tucker Carlson is choosing to claim idiocy to avoid admitting that he is an *******.
Whether or not you’ve done that to simply avoid falling into the “*******” category is unknown.
Bottom line is that supporting Trump at any time is inexcusable.

Your attitude toward Trump is more than a little confounding. Your political views and overall personality don't seem to have changed much over the last ten years. (That is neither criticism nor praise. I would probably would say the same thing about myself.) Trump hasn't changed much over the last ten years. But you claim your views about Trump have changed significantly. It doesn't make sense.
Rigged!!!

Trump pushes baseless claims that Virginia redistricting vote was 'RIGGED'
Donald Trump is, once again, pushing baseless claims that an election was “RIGGED”.
This time, he’s questioning the results of Tuesday’s referendum that saw Virginia voters approve new congressional maps for the state.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that on Tuesday “Republicans were winning, the Spirit was unbelievable, until the very end when, of course, there was a massive ‘Mail In Ballot Drop!’”
He added that the “Democrats eked out another Crooked Victory!”
The president also claimed that the language for the redistricting referendum was “purposefully unintelligible and deceptive”.
“As everyone knows, I am an extraordinarily brilliant person, and even I had no idea what the hell they were talking about,” Trump said, before telegraphing likely legal challenges.
STOP THE COUNT!!
Thanks for the reminder. It is curious that you and Trump have similar posting styles though. (Although at least you can spell better than him.)
You’ve already conceded that you’re an idiot for supporting Trump.
Quite so! I'm an idiot for other things too, but that will do for now.
Tucker Carlson is choosing to claim idiocy to avoid admitting that he is an *******.
Whether or not you’ve done that to simply avoid falling into the “*******” category is unknown.
Assume both, then you're covered.
Bottom line is that supporting Trump at any time is inexcusable.
You're probably right. But probably also true for every major party Presidential candidate in my lifetime (b. 1957).
Trump loves tig ol bitties
What’s the problem
Specially fake ones
