25.3/9.7/8.7 in the series, I mean dude is the oldest player in the league and just played 45 minutes.

You forgot the bit where they are 3-0 up against a team that started the series as -550 favourite.

Wouldn't be surprised if Durant misses another game at some point.

Imagine that there's actually people in this thread who believe Durant > Lebron.

Just in case you missed it

That clip should've started 2 seconds earlier to include the steal.

Easiest one is LeBron

GOAT.

Congrats LeBron on playoff win number 187. That's the same total of the Bulls in their entire history.

His career mirrors Mutombo very closely.

It'll be interesting to see how long after he retires before a franchise catches up to his career total from the start of his career. Right now you have to spot almost a decade to get the Spurs to match, they'll probably jump him first but even with Wemby it'll take a bit.

So where did we fall on my thought that the scoring title=1 ring

by DodgerIrish m

His career mirrors Mutombo very closely.

Fun fact - I have a bag of coffee in my cupboard that was presented to my wife by Dikembe Mutombo.

I don't like it. A regular season MVP I could get behind.

I mean all time scoring record.

by Chilltown m

I mean all time scoring record.

By 5k points.

7.5k if you want to include playoffs.

Imagine a modern MLB player being the sll time leader in hits and home runs for both playoffs and regular season and having 4 rings and people being like 'nah Ruth goat'

Lebron fans must think Leatherass is the goat poker player and Rose or Cal Ripkin Jr. are the goat baseball players... Gordie Howe is the goat hockey player... Chavez Sr is the goat boxer.. So on, and so forth.

You guys are obviously wrong on this, which is why it's a fake debate... No one ever looked at sports this way until this fake debate started, and no one will ever look at it this way after.. It's only this fake debate that uses this erroneous logic.

And your Babe Ruth/MJ analogy is bad because they didn't face the same comp like MJ and Lebron did... MJ and Lebron both faced Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, Kidd, KG, etc... Most of the guys that Jordan faced in 98' were still in the league in 03' when Lebron entered the league.

Should rewind about back even longer when he turned the ball over twice. Once traveling(or throwing to other team, i forget if they called the travel or not) then NOT GOING BACK ON DEFENSE??????? Huh??? He just stood there while everyone went back down the court making Lakers play 4 on 5 which Rockets obviously scored. You see Lebron coming into the camera casually jogging back, when he finally decided to move, way behind the other players just as guy going in for the score. If any other Laker in that game did that they'd be benched immediately. Then benched for the next game at least. Then yelled at by James in the locker room.

The media and you guys pretend it didn't happen. Media would go nuts if it was any other player did that. But everyone wants to protect Lebron. Maybe Lebron would have apologized if anyone had bothered to ask him about it.

Then 2nd turnover throwing a lazy pass that got intercepted by Sengun for break away score.

So at least part of the reason the Lakers were down 6 with a minute to go was becasue Lebron played bad. Then chose not to play defense becasue he was upset he turned it over. But don't worry, Rockets said hold my beer, we can play bad too, and gave the game away.

Sorry i had to say it. Because nobody else will, and instead just fawn over that game like he played a game worthy of the goat. He did hit the clutch 3 to tie after poking it away. I'll give him that. Btw that swipe at the ball is usually results in a foul and game over. But he hit it just right on the ball and it came out, then the ball coming back to him for the 3. So all is well Lebron the hero and all his supporters can wipe the sweat off their brow now PHEW! But again, i give him credit for making the shot!

Shouldn't we tell the whole story when discussing players play? Not just the good?

Btw, Lebron usualy plays very hard, especially in a playoff game, that's why it was shocking he did that. I wish someone asked him about it so he could of said sorry. Which he probably would have. Becasue he's a good guy and knows that's unnacceptable to leave his team to out to dry on that possession.

No one else has ever played 45 minutes in a playoff game as 1st option at 41. He was obviously gassed at the end.

by bottomset m

No one else has ever played 45 minutes in a playoff game as 1st option at 41. He was obviously gassed at the end.

I'm sure that's some of the reason. And i admire how good he's playing for a guy 41. Though if you asked me doesn't look like his game has deteriorated to me. But maybe your right that maybe that's the one thing that he's more tired than he would be when he was younger. But still, i could forgive the turnovers. Especially the travel. He's just trying to make a play and maybe was gassed. The other turnover less forgivable but ok. But you have to go down the court and play defense. If you can't then asked to be taken out.

I think he was thinking like in the regular season sometimes he wouldn't get back on defense when other team has a obvious fastbreak score. Which isn't good, but i get it. Figures they're gonna score for sure so let me save some energy. But this was different. Wasn't a fast break. He just decided not to go back, while everyone else did.

And my other point was that it wasn't a great game. He made 2 big mistakes. And a big recovery with that sequence, which let's be honest, he was lucky to get the chance to redeem himself. Help from Rockets, and lucky bounce of the ball giving him a chance at hitting the game tying shot. So there was good and bad. Not Lebron play the goat of all games like everyone saying.

Can we talk about MJ going 0/6 in the last quarter against the Jazz in Game 6 of the 98 Finals before making his last 2 shots?

Sure. That's all i ask is for the truth to be told. Not just a one-sided story through rose-colored glasses. If we're gonna have the debate that Jordan plays worse than Lebron in the playoffs again sure. But you know you don't want to go there. Btw, you cherry picked one time(think that was you) when he came out of retirement showing him throwing a bad pass, and someone stripping him from behind that he didn't see. As the times Jordan played bad. So you couldn't even come up with a missed shot. Just a bad pass that might have been Pippen's fault too. Timing takes 2. And an unsuspecting from behind steal. That's all you had.

You think if we delved into Lebron's LONG history in the league we couldn't find times he played bad? Something tells me we'd find more.

I don't mind you criticizing jordan if it's deserved. As long as you're ok when i criticize Lebron when it's deserved. Don't be mad when i point out Lebron's faults. I'm not mad when you point out Jordan's. If he went 0-6 that's not good. Point taken, but he still finished like the goat. And didn't need a game 7, that time, or ever.

See how you treated LeBron compared to Jordan?

Anyway. You shouldn't be expecting perfection. Particularly for a 41 year old.

MJ was lucky to live in a world where everything wasn't seen.

MJ could have a 5/18 night and there wasn't 2,000,000 tweets about it immediately afterwards. There wasn't 1,000 talking heads and podcasted talking about how poorly he played.

And now there's been time since it happened, and everyone only remembers the good.

Missing shots isn't in no universe the same as what Lebron did. Lebron made 2 critcal turnovers. One the travel, but then, DIDN'T GO BACK ON DEFENSE, so not just a turnover but giving the other team 2 points as well. Then his 2nd turnover being a lazy pass giving Sengun the break away score. So 2 turnoves leading to not only them scoring, but giving the other team 2 points.

You're gonna compare that to missing some shots? Lebron misses tons a shots. If we want to have a debate on who misses more shots in the clutch i like that discussion as well. You see how you treaing Jordan compared to Lebron? C'mon man, Lebron's failed many times just people bruush it under the rug, But it's real hard to find Jordan's failures. You being a Jordan superfan should know that. And you do imo. Just now you like Lebron so you cover for him like all his fans do. Fine to like him, but let's get real. There is a big gap between the 2 players. This while Lebron's had a great career, but he's no Jordan, not close.

They didn't have social media back then yes. But truth be told if they did more people would know how much Jordan was the goat. And you make it sound like social media is critical of Lebron? Seriously? They fawn over him like you do. Just like this fact that nobody talking about the stuff in that last game. Instead they say this proves Lebron is the goat.

Michael Jordan missed his last 4 shots in Game 5 of the same series with a chance to close it out (including a game winner).

MJ makes one of them and no need for Game 6.

History forgets these things.
