Someone shared a tweet about the incident. I immediately went to cnn to verify the tweet was real. There was nothing there...at least not on their main page.

If printing money is why you hate trump I couldn’t imagine your feeling if Hillary, Biden, Kamala or any other dem was in charge during Covid. Dems fought their asses off to shut down the economy and give away as much money as they could and trump did a decent (but not great job) of reining it in a bit.
It’s not why I hate Trump. The point is that disproportionate and bad criticisms are relative to ones views.
I think a bad criticism of Bush Jr was that he sounded stupid. Many liberal elites and comedians thought it was a great and hilarious criticism of him. I can’t really think of a similar criticism of Trump that people make that I would put on the same ballpark as being disproportionate and bad faith as that. Having said that, there were also a lot of really good criticisms of Bush Jr.
Maybe some people really think criticizing Bush Jr for his bushisms was good criticism, and from their point of view I’m wrong for thinking it’s silly.
It’s also just a fact that political participation has gone up since 2016, and so more people having an opinion on politics is going to drive up engagement for criticism and praise. So you could just be making a very boring observation of signal to noise when a high population of people end up more politically involved. It’s a rather trivial and boring observation when you view it from that lens and not a sign that Trump is some poor persecuted guy.
Regarding your point about Obama: I agree there was nonsense he was criticized for but it wasn’t way out of bounds compared to most other presidents. The amount of criticism trump faces should never be compared to Obama. They aren’t even in the same ballpark.
Criticism towards Obama was 24/7 on Fox News, which was the top outlet, and certainly he had his fair share of assassination threats and political sensationalism against him.

I don’t find slogans like that helpful, no, and I think it confounds the issue to bring up war when talking about political violence. Unless it’s to make some kind of holistic comparison like “they may be worse on political violence but better on being anti-war” or some other “all things considered” argument. But if we are going to bring those considerations up then we shouldn’t isolate to some particular consideration you want to bring up but bring up all of them, or stick to just talking about a particular subject.
If you have some kind of argument for why war and political violence are the same subject I’m open to it.

You’re committing a fallacy in assuming that you can deduce the meanings of words strictly from a shared etymology. Why are we assuming that political violence means violence that comes out of politics exactly? If you want to have your own proprietary definition then have fun with not being competent in normal english language practices.
