The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
You are a liberal loyalist Imagine if Pierre came out with new policies of bringing back Trudeau's carbon tax and EV mandate and no new pipelines and men in women's sports and Shifty and I still supported him and the party we would be hypocrites .
Lol at this pathetic bit trying to act like it is remotely hypocritical to back Carney despite him doing some things I don't like. It's a democracy. Party A vs Party B. I don't have to love every single thing about party B to choose the lesser of two evils. I've said my bit about the cancelling of the carbon tax many times now. It's sad that it happened. But Poilievre is just worst - unquestionably - particularly on that exact file as he wants to cancel the industrial carbon tax. This is being consistent with values over time, not hypocrisy.
Oh it's way past that, if people are still willing to vote liberal after the last decade there's no going back, I'm thankful I am in Alberta but it's time to just let it implode and start over. Canada is a failed country.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? As a fringe far right PPC and CPC voter who didn't even vote for Carney,
Lol, no. It would be the same as me defending Pierre for a decade (I haven't) then defending/voting for him if he wanted to apply a consumer carbon tax again (I wouldn't). I have no issue not voting conservative if I don't like the leader, you would never vote NDP.
And yet somehow, he LOST his own riding that he'd held for 20+ years, AND LOST the election.
Please try again to tell me how ELECTABLE he is. Because all I see is a guy stacking L's like lawn chairs.
He was a lot more successful than the last 2 leaders before him. Which is why the narrative that conservatives just need a more moderate leader is psyop.

Look at Trudeau he was a charmer and a great speaker and promised the world and delivered nothing . It took a while but even the dumbest people were not going to fall for him a 4th time other than Uke
Id say anyone that voted for him a second time lacked any comprehension

Of all the ways I was glad Carney beat Poilievre, having the confidence and gleeful boasting that you all did for about 1.5 years ITT after Poilievre's numbers climbed over Trudeau utterly shattered is definitely my favourite. Man such little class when you were ahead, makes it hard to show humility now that the winning side flipped.

lol what. I just told you I've voted green AND ndp AND liberal in the past, for a range of reasons, both provincially and federally. Like it's ok to fail a soul read but I just told you this one post ago. Just as you seem fine to vote for the far right maple maga bernier bro fringe PPC at times when you are mad at the CPC. Stupid, but ok. Mostly, however, I vote for the lesser of two evils and just lmao at trying to twist my opposition to the carbon tax being cancelled as someone meaning I can't ever believe that Carney is better than Poilievre lmao.
The great thing about having strong consistent values is that it makes it easy to laugh at dweebs on the internet who try to accuse you of being a partisan.

smoke some more copium buddy!
I really don't get this argument. If Poilievre had been more like Carney - more center right - isn't it quite likely that he would have actually won? This idea that because he lost and the entire left banned together to defeat him he should have just been even more to the right seems....backwards.

Lol. Psyop. Common conservatives! Just be more left and you'll win, promise 😃

Wonder why?

If you call losing the general election and your seat “successful”… I don’t understand that level of copium.
He’s a loser. Plain and simple.
Ya know, I'm 100% happy if the lesson you manage to draw from the last 4 electoral of losses is that the conservatives should run MORE candidates on the maple maga alt right. Like maybe a Bernier, we all know you love him!

i dont think the former actually matters very. it was also a riding hes not from so I doubt they are expected to be very loyal. isin't ottawa a super liberal area? Hes alot of things but I wouldn't call him a loser hes been one of the most powerful people in canada for the last decade. I was researching it apparently he held it for 21 years that means he must have been an mp at a very young age. thats crazy. im pretty neutral on pp but in theory i think he should be a good candidate but the people who don't like him are the boomer class but they won't vote any conservative because all they do is watch cnn and trump news and ignore Canadian politics . hopefully they die soon

That riding voted for him in overwhelming numbers for 21 years. West Ottawa and the surrounding rural areas that make up his riding aren’t super liberal. It’s a more conservative area than you might think. Ottawa Centre would be a whole other story.
He can go to the end of his leash and bark like the yappy chihuahua that I’ve called him in the past. That’s what he’s good at, and that’s his lane. Leading a country? No way.
I think under-25s did him in locally, and I think his non existent credentials outside of being a politician hurt him nationally. And his overtures to America hurt him too. Meeting with Trump officials, etc. I think going on Rogan’s podcast hurt him more than anyone would ever want to admit.
I believe your right as I couldn't vote for Trudeau and was not a fan of the conservative candidate
and what about 2021? Did you not vote for a local liberal candidate?
Do you regret that 2019 vote for the Green Party given that you spent most of the 2020s attacking environmental initiatives?

Can you name 1 thing that has made Canadians lives better since the people YOU'VE voted for been in power?

I voted Conservative in 2021 and as for 2019 it may have been the PPC as well. It was a wasted vote I lived in a competitive riding than in Edmonton and so I wasted my vote as I couldn't support the conservative or Liberal. Though the riding I lived in was a fight between the NDP and liberals .
You know I think the environmental initiatives are a waste of time. Though I had to say I always respected Trudeau for standing his ground on the carbon tax till he caved on Atlantic Canada to try and buy votes
I always believed after Justin Trudeau denied the SNC lavelin accusations and said his Justice minister was remembering things differently the same excuse he used for the reporter he sexually assaulted than only to find out she had the recordings to back it up and to make matters worse fired two strong liberal women told us all we needed to know about his character and anyone that supported him after that was a fool
you believe in lower taxes? I don't even believe in lower taxes. HOw will we save ThE TreEs
Over the last decade (since 2015), the Liberal government in Canada has taken a mixed approach, raising taxes for high-income earners and some corporate investments while lowering income taxes for middle-class individuals through, for example, adjustments to the Basic Personal Amount. However, many analysts suggest the overall tax burden has risen for most households due to other changes

Lol!!!probably not the best idea to gloat when the best thing the party you voted for in a decade of power is something that didn't even happen. Congratulations!
What on earth are you talking about? Trudeau lowered the second from bottom income tax bracket, and Carney lowered the bottom income tax bracket. Those things absolutely happened. You can be mad at other policies, but as someone who ostensibly votes conservatives and would like lower income tax rates, are those not to policies you are ecstatic about?

You said lowered income tax... The brackets were adjusted and credits and benefits like income splitting, children's sports/arts were removed. 60% of low income saw increases and 90% of middle income saw increases.
Have tax burdens, effective rates and paid taxes increased in the last decade?
That's right. As a conservative, I've always advocated for simpler tax systems where the government isn't picking winners and losers with all these little exemptions you need to keep track of and stupid inequities like income splitting. Lowering the overall rate and simplifying a range of deductions is great for me as a conservative. Of course Carney JUST lowered the rate, unlike the 2015 things. As a conservative I love that even more. Just pure income tax reduction.

Have effective tax rates and total taxes paid increase for majority of Canadians in the last decade?
Is lowering income tax really the best you can come up with? If you polled Canadians do you really think they would say lowering income tax is the best thing the liberals have done in the last decade?
Look if you don't like lowering and simplifying income tax brackets in a fiscally responsible way, perhaps you would like building a massive new oil pipeline that has lead to record oil production.
