That's what democrats do every time while republicans go after NYC values in deep south senate races, Somali immigrants Sharia Law etc. Republicans win about half the time and I think they'd be doing much worse with hardcore rurals without identity politics. The great thing about running against illegals or Sharia Law is you can't really fail after you get elected because they aren't actually making people's lives bad.
