President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
Hilariously, I don't think he even knows that
1. Biological sex is a spectrum
2. Biological sex is not binary
are even different.
universities are demographically skewed left. faculty, admissions, student body - this is documented and not seriously disputed
what happens inside that environment isn't pure indoctrination, though some of them indeed are indoctrinated. for most it's something more boring and better evidenced. students who don't fit the consensus don't get converted. they go quiet. they learn which opinions are safe to voice and which ones cost them socially, and they adjust. that's not a campus phenomenon, that's what happens anywhere a strong majority makes dissent expensive
again, this is not disputed, there are widespread studies on self censorship, how college is a place where diversity of opinion is stifled on sensitive cultural topics
you can watch the exact same mechanism in this thread right now. if every left-leaning poster here gave their honest answer about whether they'd date a trans woman with a penis, the overwhelming majority would say no. but they won't say it. the silence is the data. it's the inverse of i am spartacus - nobody stands up because the cost of standing up is too high, and the silence gets read as consensus
it just played out in real time a few posts up. checkraisdraw made a fairly technical argument that gamete-based sex categorization isn't strictly binary. amplify, who had been on the binary side a few posts earlier, immediately retreated with "i am not a gamete scientist bro i just want trans people to have basic human rights." that's not a position change, that's a public alignment check. the moment another leftist signaled the acceptable line had moved, he abandoned the science and reframed himself as just being pro-trans-rights to avoid being on the wrong side of the room
the same posters who came up through that filter, who learned which opinions are safe and which ones aren't, are now in this thread explaining that rural whites are the indoctrinated ones. the people most shaped by an environment that punishes dissent are confidently diagnosing the brainwashing in the people who weren't subjected to it
Bollix would I date a chick with a dick. 😮
next rickroll will tell us that answering questions correctly on an IQ test is also self censorship
It feels ridiculous to have to point this out, but one can be attracted to the feminine characteristics associated with women and then not attracted to the characteristics of that same person that are not feminine and not associated with women (for example, a penis). It would not be hypocritical or abnormal in anyway to find a transgender woman attractive until you see the masculine characteristics of the same person that were not presented at first. That isn't a gotcha, that's normal.
It is quite common for men to find femininity attractive, not just "women."

This may be true but it has nothing to do with the question of whether sex is a binary. I didn’t use any of the techniques used in woke cancel culture: calling someone transphobic/other-phobic, appealing to “trust the experts”, making up nonsense arguments appealing to leftist babbling, social ostracization, etc

a) how do you know that their silence means they would or wouldn’t date a pre-op trans woman?
b) lol at saying the social cost is higher to say you wouldn’t over would.

this is so funny because many of the lefties on this forum hate me.
based on the qualities of this post, i think it's safe to assume that self censoring on an iq test wouldn't be something you'd ever need to worry about
I'd be offended if the part where you took (all) the contradictory one liners of a guy with 81k posts at face value and illustrative for exactly what you desperately want to believe wasn't the least asinine in that post
Ha! Wouldn't want to be that guy!

Yeah, no shit, dude. When generations of conservatives teach their children that higher ed is leftist indoctrination you're going to find that fewer of them become college professors.

Right. If you take an astronomy class, you're going to learn what the academic consensus is on how the solar system works. You don't magically become converted into believing in orbital mechanics. You're perfectly free to go on believing that Mars is a giant ball of rubber if you like, but at least now you understand the state of the field. This is kind of how education works.

The fuck is it with these people and their endless obsession with transgender people? No one fucking cares if you don't want to date a trans person.
the same posters who came up through that filter, who learned which opinions are safe and which ones aren't, are now in this thread explaining that rural whites are the indoctrinated ones.
Yes, the people who passed the filter of final exams have the skill set to see through conservative bullshit. The people who were indoctrinated by Rush Limbaugh are mad at trans athletes or critical race theory or whatever Sean Hannity tells them to be mad about.
Again, all you have to do is see where Republican Party leaders send their kids to. Trump's kids all go to fancy colleges and universities instead of going to trade school or an apprenticeship. The nonsense about Liberal Indoctrination Factories is stuff Fox News hosts tell the bumpkins to keep them in their place, they don't actually believe that for a second.
College faculties and student bodies are more left wing than the U.S. population as a whole, of course, but not all colleges and universities are Brown or Oberlin. Many large universities in red areas of the country have student bodies that are purple, or even red.I am not convinced that your speculation about people's interest in dating a "trans woman with a penis" is nearly
would you date a trans woman with a penis?

i never took what he said as serious, i don't think he's ever posted anything serious, the point was rather how much he went out of his way to ensure everyone was aligned
I've been married for a long time. I've never given the issue any thought. If my wife disappeared and I were back on the dating scene, I think it is quite unlikely that I would end up with a trans woman.
What exactly does this acknowledgement prove in your opinion? You are presenting this question as if it is some sort of gotcha for people who oppose juan's views on sexuality and gender, but for the life of me, I don't understand what you think the gotcha is.

the way it's argued is if you wouldn't date a trans woman, then you are denying they are women, and you are a transphobe
I'm pretty out of it with these current red lines or whatever but still find it hard to believe someone would be ostracized for saying trans women are not their type.
That being said, living in Thailand I see first hand there is a much bigger percentage of "straight" men into this than I would have imagined.
jfc
What kind of df thinks women you aren't attracted to aren't women?
I'll put this simply so even those with drool on their shirts can understand: it's normal for straight men to be attracted to femininity. Penises are not a feminine trait. Woman can have all sorts of traits that are not feminine and that's ok. They are still women.
Get this, though - the more masculine/non-feminine traits you have, the further towards the opposite peak of the bimodal spectrum you might be considered. SPECTRUM
And, again, it's normal for some of those traits to be more or less important than others for an individual to find them attractive. For some, maybe even many, that may be a deal-breaker. For others, it may increase attractiveness.
Life is a rich tapestry.
*blowing the minds of "high iq" conservatives by extending basic human rights to ppl that i'm not interested in having sex with*
Yeah. I'm confused. I've never heard anyone here argue that a person's interest in dating a transgender woman is some sort of litmus test for whether that person really believes that transgender women are "real" women. The supposed connection between the litmus test and the conclusion doesn't even make sense to me.
Juan,
I don't claim to be up to date on the science in this area. It isn't a particular intellectual interest of mine.
For the purposes of my assessment of you, the science doesn't really matter. Your thought process is completely ****ed and seems to amount to "I think people who agree with Gorgonian are wrong. Therefore I am entitled to be a bigoted, sexist jerkoff."
You’re phrasing this like understanding that biological sex in mammals including humans is binary is some sort of intellectual pursuit. It’s common sense and common knowledge. Only a segment of the left on a short bus is trying to re imagine these things or in a state of confusion. How embarrassing
Along with the theme
Here’s some wild takes from Richard Dawkins. Noted embecil who clearly doesn’t understand what a binary is. Even worse a trans phobe
Richard Dawkins believes biological sex in humans (and other animals) is binary. richarddawkins.com
He defines sex strictly by the type of gamete an organism produces (or is developmentally organized to produce): small gametes (sperm) = male; large gametes (eggs/ova) = female. This creates a fundamental binary distinction rooted in anisogamy (the evolution of two gamete sizes), which applies across sexually reproducing species, including humans. richarddawkins.substack.com
Key Points from Dawkins
• He has repeatedly stated variations of “sex is binary” or “sex is pretty damn binary” in articles, interviews, and posts (e.g., on X/Twitter and Substack). richarddawkins.com
• He contrasts this with race, which he describes as a spectrum due to gradual mixing, while sex remains a clear dichotomy in reproduction: offspring are almost always unambiguously male or female. quillette.com
• Rare intersex conditions (disorders/differences of sex development, like streak gonads) exist but are exceptions that do not undermine the binary—they are too infrequent and do not create a spectrum or additional sexes. He likens them to rare developmental anomalies, not evidence against the rule. @richarddawkins
• He distinguishes sex (biological, gamete-based, binary) from gender (which he sees as more cultural/psychological and leaves to others). He criticizes efforts to conflate them or claim sex is a spectrum as ideologically driven misunderstandings of biology. @richarddawkins
Dawkins has defended this view in pieces like “Race is a Spectrum. Sex is Pretty Damn Binary” (Quillette/Areo), his New Statesman essay “Why biological sex matters,” and responses to outlets like Scientific American. He argues it aligns with evolutionary biology and is not controversial among biologists outside recent cultural debates. newstatesman.com
This position is consistent across his public statements. He views denial of the sex binary as an example of ideology overriding scientific reality.
Oh my goodness Dawkins is a rube. If only he had the opportunity to converse with gorgonian or see the paper from the activist fringe
This place is amazing. Did anyone go against the tribe? Sex is on a spectrum. lol just wow
"sex is binary ..... except when it's not"
yeah, sounds pretty ****ing stupid
