President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

victror, what is your policy in regards to dating a woman with a penis?

trans women are not something I am interested in. ofc, I recognize that it is textbook anti-trans behavior to exclude trans women from your pool of potential partners. i just dont particular care about being labeled transphobic (just like I dont care about being labeled antiseptic or anti-white) bc Im not a lib.

by rickroll

more semantics from someone who obviously has nothing to say of substance

Remember, on top of all the ******ation, they’re saying mainstream biology is false including Dawkins who specifically says biological sex is binary while addressing intersex.

Now notice they’re fixated on binary and parsing the definition and use of it in biology. But keep in mind their position and original claim to start the argument is it’s on a spectrum. Which is even more lol

When have I ever claimed on this forum that sex is a spectrum? Why are you lying? I have specifically said directly to you that I agree sex is not a spectrum.

I think you are just a moron at this point, and don’t even understand how stupid you look.

Simultaneous hermaphrodism is mainstream biology, and so is the possibility of not having the ability to produce either gamete. Analytically, that is not a binary as there are not two outcomes.

I think both you and Rick understand the argument but don’t want to admit the entailment that sex is not a binary. Rick seemed to admit as much until he disengaged like the coward he is when he’s in a corner on a point. You seem content to just lie about my position rather than deal with it.

Is it really so prevalent these days that it would even call for its own category?

in maine and colorado it was fairly rare, but still about 1% or so, which means you'll run into several each week while swiping

in seattle it was much higher, but probably still <5%

the issue is men just play a numbers game, average male gets a match on <1% of all women they swipe right on, a top performing male gets closer to 5% - but either way it makes it a numbers game, where there's no point in investing time - you see the very first photo and make an instant decision

any time spent looking at additional photos or reading bios is just arrogance - you save that investment for if you match

users on the free plan get between 25-50 free right swipes per day - so if 1% are trans, you're going to probably swipe right on at least 1-2 a week

i think the issue is exacerbated by the fact that you're remarkably more likely to have a positive match with a trans woman than a cisgender woman - so a disproportionate amount of your matches are then going to be trans - which you then quietly discover after matching, or sometimes not until much later

it's not uncommon for trans to never disclose it on their profile and be visually indistinguishable

here's teddy quinlivan, giving a ted talk about how it was her business whether or not she had a penis and it was her right to not disclose that to the men who dated her - and she gets applause

there's also no way you can tell that she has a penis, and frankly, she's gorgeous - which is the point, this isn't about people being able to identify trans women on sight and choosing not to date them, it's about not being able to identify them at all

the dating apps protect this right to not disclose and in fact even encourage it, making it impossible to filter them out, even if they chose to opt into the section of the app where they declare if they are trans or cis - however, most don't opt into this

and yet, one of the most commonly cited reasons for needing to protect trans is that they are murdered at disproportionately high rates - but if you look at the data, a large share of trans homicide victims were sex workers, and sex work itself carries extreme violence risk regardless of identity

or, when they are not sex workers, the violence is concentrated in cases where non-disclosure intersected with the encounter going wrong - and i'm not justifying that violence, it's horrific, but the point is the disclosure norm being defended here isn't actually protecting trans people from it, it's contributing to the conditions where it happens

a lot of the pushback in this thread is from people who've been married for decades and aren't on the apps. there's an assumption that "you'd find out before anything happened" - but that ignores how dating actually works. there's often hours or days of making out, cuddling, oral, before female genitalia would necessarily come up. the discovery moment can come a long way into something that already feels like a relationship

but back to the dating apps, it is definitely in the back of anyone's mind who is on those apps, for me it was not about disgust or hate, i just didn't want to waste time with someone with whom it'd never go anywhere - when i met my current partner, she's 6' tall, so obviously while there's nothing about her nor her profile that indicated she was trans, i couldn't help but run the mental math of the bayesian problem of what percentage of 6' women in seattle are trans or not? obviously, it didn't deter me, i still went ahead knowing that risk and was extremely happy i did because i genuinely found the perfect woman

The Republican obsession with trans people needs to be studied by psychologists for decades. Maybe the greatest moral panic I've lived through, they literally can't stay focused on anything else. Gas is headed toward 10$/gal because there's a shooting war in the Middle East and Rick is melting down over dating apps.

It’s a big talking point for a few reasons

One is similar to the Trump effect. Trump is an absurd person. Constantly the centre of attention because of it. The trans issue is completely absurd. There’s literally men winning gold medals in women’s boxing. A 6’4 man showing up in a women’s locker room and destroying them in NCAA swimming. Etc etc. They are surgically and chemically transitioning minors. Also without parental consent. People who don’t go along with it are losing custody. Drag queen story hour. Men in change rooms with little girls. Men in women’s shelters. Men in women’s prisons sexually abusing women. The whole thing is bonkers so of course there’s going to be attention

There’s a bunch more reasons including the political motivations. It’s a winning issue

by tame_deuces

The far more likely explanation is that they are not allowing filters for this due to the risk of such filters being used to plan hate crimes or harassment, and potential fallout in terms of credibility and liability.

yes that's fair, but it's not the official reason, which makes sense

Rick is a Republican?

by Rococo

rick doesn't vote for Republicans or Democrats as far as I know.

i've voted for democrats when i liked them, never once voted for a republican - in my 20s i probably voted like 85% democrat and 15% independent, these days 70%+ independent

it's just easier for dullards to label me as right wing because it makes it easier in their minds to dismiss my thoughts that way

by amplify

Was the bread gluten-free? I have celiac.

ooh a fellow glutard, i knew there was a good reason to like you - have you tried any enzymes or anything, i've been experimenting with them for the inevitable accidental contamination that happens when eating out or having dinner at a friends house etc and while they don't stop the damage from being dealt they do help with the symptoms

have you also experimented with lactaid, the damaged cilla from celiac produce the lactase enzyme so you're probably lactose intolerant as well

It seems rick has a lot of unresolved issues. Maybe he should just kick back and have a White Claw.

sigh

a lot of the pushback in this thread is from people who've been married for decades and aren't on the apps.

I will candidly admit that optimization of dating apps is very low on my list of social priorities.

As an aside, there was an online dating thread in OOT that had over 50,000 posts. I spent an hour reading the thread one time, and it was cringeworthy in the extreme. My overwhelming impression was that suboptimal apps really were not the main problem for a lot of the participants in that thread.

Trans women should disclose but it is sort of funny for a hole in wan that you are arguing trans women are beautiful and hard to distinguish from cis women. I doubt he would agree lol

juan is a mystery to me, but i imagine if he watched the video he'd agree that teddy is a very attractive woman, who passed as a woman as a professional model for a very long time until a few people she disclosed she was trans to publicly outed her

importantly, she would have boyfriends who didn't even know, i can't possibly imagine how that eventual conversation would usually go - hey it's our 4th date so it's time i disclose to you that i have a penis

I doubt these actual trans people think about their penis as often as you freaks.

no amount of whiteclaw can resolve my issues, and lord knows i've tried

Gluten free bread is horrible ime because it falls apart so easily. I tried it for a while and then just gave up. I bake a modified version of Panasonic's sour dough (thanks GPT, you have your uses) that's far better.

by geezerchess

Please give a specific example.

Srs? Drunk person gives all his money away at 3-card monte or some other street hustle that he or she wouldn't have done otherwise.

by geezerchess

I don't understand the question.

Anyone who says a person who voluntarily became intoxicated "deserves pretty much whatever happens to them" is suggesting that drunk people deserve a punishment for being drunk.

Which punishments are the ones you think they deserve? You've ruled out rape, for example.

by geezerchess

The wine Jesus made had little or no alcohol content.

Yeah, and Trump supporters say Trump didn't start a war with Iran. It's called rationalizing.

by geezerchess

Even wine with alcohol content can be enjoyed without getting drunk.*

I suspect everyone except you knew this factoid already, so glad I could enlighten you.

So you're saying it's okay to get buzzed? Did you know that for alcoholics, it takes a lot to cop a buzz?

No, anti-trans people think that they can always tell and that any perceived passing on video/pictures are just angles.

Obviously that is delusional.

Patti Harrison is hot af and hole in wan definitely would.

It's very funny that the people who insist trans people don't exist are terrified that they might end up dating one. Like, you guys gotta pick a lane here.

Definitely some latent homosexuals crashing out itt.

Sorry to interrupt this scintillating conversation, but here's some trump news.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-h...

For months, President Donald Trump portrayed the big new ballroom that he’s building on White House grounds as a gift to the nation, courtesy of patriotic private donors.

“And by the way, no government funds,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office last November.

“These are all private individuals that put up a lot of money to build the ballroom,” he added. "Not one penny is being used from the federal government."

But the gleaming 90,000 square-foot space that he repeatedly said would cost the public nothing may ultimately leave taxpayers on the hook for $1 billion, due to new security enhancements that are tied to the project.
