From talking to my divorced friends the big concern is not getting tricked by a trans, it's married women pretending to be single. My one friend banged 2 women who later told him they were married. It freaked him out pretty good.

Those apps are actually extremely convenient* and if you are against using them, be it on romantic principle or transphobia** you can also still just meet people at bars etc, especially people who share your dislike of dating apps.

There was a documentary about the demise of Ashley Madison, and I seem to recall that one of the reveals was that a high percentage of the women on the site were just fake accounts controlled by people employed by Ashley Madison. In other words, it was mostly real guys trying to match with fake women.

Guessing married women (or men) are unlikely on apps. Seems reasonably likely someone in their circle would see them on there and blow up their spot. If they are looking for extra marital activity, much more likely to be done the old fashioned way. Maybe if travelling outside their city they fire up an app intermittently.
