I owned and read parts Elder's book 20+ years ago. I don't recall the reasons he gave for that phenomenon.

None of this should be all that controversial. Trump won in a fairly close election and is now polling in the 30s in averages and hitting -20 net fav regularly in individual polls. Nobody has ever been this unpopular this soon into a term.

I certainly hate the weak victim mentality we have these days - losers complain about why they're mistreated, I have this problem, I have that problem - it's really quite pathetic. As a small business owner and supporting my family I have no choice but to deal with all the bullshit I deal with on a day to day basis and grind through it - I get ****ed over left and right but have to keep battling. This is the middle class of America - those getting ****ed by the rich and the poor stealing their tax dollars while they smoke weed at the corner store all day. I had this guy working for me a couple years ago - state paid his rent, gave him money for food, free healthcare, etc - he would smoke weed every morning and then go drink in the afternoon. Meanwhile I was grinding my ass off as my taxes increased to pay for guys like this. The middle class is sick of it and the main reason Trump got elected - it's sad the people working so hard to raise their families in nice environments get ****ed the most.
