Wonder what the legality of them trying to claw back the overage if you say F off.

How does an unlicensed site back then ever do anything than try to make poker annoying to play with your name/address.

$1200 was the late 2013/early 2014 top. ~$200 was the subsequent bottom, and it languished there for quite a while, so you could have bought those 40 coins back for $8000.

I wouldn't have kept the fat fingered BTC either. But if you had, would you have held for ten years through all the ups and downs?

yea, it was 2017. I was thinking the price was similar to the year. I also knew it was around a prominent date in my life, but considering its been groundhogs day for the last ~16 years I was thinking it was another time period.

their 'threats' made it abundantly clear they had no recourse other than prohibition from the network (which was a big deal at the time).

with Bitcoin price hindsight... if I felt the same way back then as I do today about WPN/Nagy, I would snap keep it. its never not been a cesspool of grift.

Feels like governments concentrate on whatever attack vector is doing the best in the legacy media. In the past it’s been energy fud or “no intrinsic value” nonsense. Now it’s quantum fud.

The genesis block of Bitcoin references this paper:

This is the full paper, as well as the full Jan 2, 2009 paper, which I hadn't seen before.

There's maybe 10 copies of the Jan 3 paper in the world, so it's pretty rare.

It's possible to turn off private messaging, I turned it off for my account. That poster is really weird though.

No they didn’t. They did talk about it but they didn’t do it.

It would have been a bad idea. After the forum got hacked around 2013 there were loads of hacked and compromised accounts. Unbanning them would have been a really bad move.
