What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

unable to quote yet because of other vacation variables

Put me down as interested. I can probably make most dates with enough notice except for late October as I'll probably be going to Bills game in Vegas.

95(46/49) Swing felt great until I fell apart on 17 and 18. Just a lack of concentration I think. My putter really let me down. I missed 6 from less than 6 feet. I honestly don't feel bad about the round, though.

I had league opener last Wednesday and missed 3 putts that were 3 feet or less. Shot 51....took a 10 on a par 5 (don't ask).

In my defense the conditions were brutal.

43 (par 36). No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

A couple lipouts and plenty of bad chipping. Thick grass is problem.

89(46/43) Took me a minute to find my swing, but still feels pretty good. I've noticed, though, that my swing has felt smoother, but I've lost a little distance as well. Not a lot so I'll take the smooth.

My putter, which was my most reliable club for a while, is now my least reliable. Missed 2 birdie and several makeable par opportunities. Gotta get that back on track.

Shot of the day. I smoked a 3-wood right into a palm tree and dislodged three balls that were apparently stuck up in the palm. Looked like it was raining golf balls.

44-40-84 yesterday, 70.2/124/6,481 yards. One birdie.

Probably should have been in the 70's with how I struck the ball, aside from chilly dipping three wedges on #3 and #4. Takes a few moments like that early in the season to remind myself of some of the right habits after a winter off, have to keep some good tempo with the 50-80 yard wedge shots.

46 in league play today. Cold out because of course.

FIVE 3 putts in 9 holes. FIVE

Tale of two nines. +6 on the front with three 3-putts, two doubles, and two water balls. -1 on the back with 8 pars and 1 birdie(a 4 iron from 190 that was less than 12" from my first ace). Took 4+ months but finally got my first sub par 9 of the year.

Two doubles, three birdies. Even thru 15 but limped in playing the last 3 at +4. Lots of fairways and greens and a bunch of approach shots to inside 15'. All three birdies were after approaches with 6 or 7 irons. Made 5 putts from outside 10' which obviously helped my score a ton.

at first glance i saw 35/37 - 72 within a span of 18 consecutive holes on the same course.

95(46/49) Driver was fantastic. Nothing else was, though. A few mishits here and there, bad chips, and worse putting. Just not a good round.

I'm not sure what is going on with putting. It used to be the most reliable part of my game, but I seem to not be able to get anything in beyond 3'. I'm not sure if I'm lining things up wrong or my motion is bad now, or I'm just overthinking everything since things went south.

I use a blade putter that I've had forever. I hate to blame things on the putter, but the guys I played with today strongly suggested I move to a mallet putter. I tried my father-in-law's old one and I didn't like it. Mine has a round grip and his has more of a squareish grip. Plus it was too short. I might go pick up a used one that feels better in my hands and try practicing with it to see if it helps things.

your body is still parsing early data along the trail toward fine tuning self awareness of owning a personal game, same as poker variance

I'm usually pretty decent with the putter. I have absolutely sucked with it the first (whopping) 3 rounds of the year. Just got back from playing round 4 and my putter was $$$$$$$. I say give it time....which I think is what Red is saying.

anyway, shot 44 (par 35). Two triples. ZERO 3 putts.

42-46-88. No birdies, 3 double bogeys, 1 triple bogey. 69.6/129/6075

Ugly. Started out promising as I made a 15 footer to save par on the first hole. All downhill from there.

92(44/48) Had a decent sub 90 round going but went double-triple on the last 2 holes. Yuk. Swing was pretty good for the most part. Short game better than it has been. Putter still an issue. Missed several easy putts. I'll probably buy a mallet putter tomorrow and see if I can make the transition.

2 birdies, no doubles. Lots of fairways, lots of greens. Best day I've had with my irons in several months. The greens had been punched recently but thankfully weren't covered with sand. Without the constant Plinko game going on I may have been able to break par. Things have gotten a lot better than where I was a month or two ago.

47-44-91 (par 36-37-73). No birdies, 1 double bogey, 2 triples.70.3/136/6221

Deflating to start out triple-triple, but I earned it. Just did not have my head in the game. Rest of the nine was fine until a double on 9. Back side was a relentless grind of mostly bogeys.

things that shouldn't piss me off but do: almost predicting this exact result and missing by a front nine stroke i was unable to witness

solid round ec and obviously not unexpected outlier potential realized, envious of what sounds like a fun way to play live golf as sort of a video game

may i instead add a bit of confusing mental perspective pressure delivered high and tight with spicy mustard hot dog emojiis aimed directly toward asking various specific vicarious questions about strategies for defying and redefining 'good' next time your starting another iphone mirror screen tee box adventure
and may you perhaps convince self every following swing is an individual streak of one data point of motion in a vacuum and has nothing else to do with anything which should be considered mosst important in the moment

also wonder what is one word to describe why you play golf

at the current moment my one word might just happen to be 'cathartic'

constantly heard as a child of the 70s about how that dude ray tube was somehow going to change our future as golf watching humans

46 (par 35). No birdies, 1 double, 1 quad.

Last two holes got me. Patience ran out.

101(51/50) ugh. Driver was fantastic. Not much else was. It took me 13 holes to find my swing. Struggled with blading my chips.

My new putter is great, though. I'm able to line things up a lot better. I think it will definitely help my scores when the rest of my game isn't as bad as today.
