Of course not. Maybe this is the problem. You don't know it when you see it.

So instead of replying that to a comment that Trump is starting a war without congress approval and I say yeah but Obama did it with Libya I should say. Yes that was wrong and it reminds me of the time Obama started a war without congresses approval and I am OK

Just ask yourself whether the point of your comment is to shift the discussion to another party's mistakes or misdeeds. If the answer is yes, which it almost always is with you, then don't do it.

No rational person could interpret my comment as an attempt to deflect criticism away from Democrats by mentioning something that the Trump administration did.

by lozen m

Would I be correct in saying that is a whataboutism ?

No.

Just wow. It was explained to you and you still don’t get it. And you wonder why you and Ricky get β€œunfairly attacked” for your posts.

by Victor m

just found the one Democrat

If you lived in her district in Texas, would you vote for her?

Lol of course not. Trump is also "starting wars" in plenty of other countries like Yemen which is a lot closer to Obama's actions in Libya yet you try to draw an incredibly strained analogy between Iran and Obama solely to whatabout Trump's Iran disaster. If you want to pretend to care about participating in these civil wars in unstable places unilaterally fine..... but Trump has been doing stuff like that since his first month in his first term. His actions in Iran are obviously in a different category.

you might want to look up when the Yemen War started and who backed it.

If you lived in Maureen Galindo's district, would you vote for her?

Of course Victor has no legal or moral responsibility to answer my question here, but I find it a strange but true fact that I have asked him this question twice and he thus far has refused to answer. He typically responds to stuff quickly. (And he's made at least four posts in this forum since I asked the above.)

Especially bewildering since my question is a response to a person he himself was the first to mention.

you know my policy on voting for Dems man. I typically dont answer dumb gotcha questions.

Thank you for responding. It wasn't a 'gotcha.' Why did you bring her up in the first place? Do you approve of her idea of throwing American Zionists in prison?

if they materially support the genocide in Palestine by serving in the IDF, donating money to Israel, recruiting soldiers for Israel, buying or selling land in Israel, etc, then yes ofc. if they make some posts on the internet cheering on the genocide, then probably not.

Of course lol!

Probably not(?)

Thanks for sharing.

It would require new laws to be passed, and those laws can’t apply retroactively according to the constitution.

Article I, Section 9, Clause 3:

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

The best you could do is pass a law making it illegal going forward, which good luck getting that passed.

It goes without saying that supporting and patronizing a close ally of the US is not currently illegal, nor is serving in their military.

Paradoxically, Victor wants change but he refuses to vote for a Dem, even if the Dem advocates for incarcerating American Zionists.

Seems to me that Victor is all smoke and no fire.

I think what he wants is pretty obviously not in the electoral system. He wants an authoritarian leftist to seize power. Barring that, he’ll support anti-American authoritarian regimes.

Pretty disgusting by the DNC

Just for clarity, what's the disgusting part?

by whatthejish m

From a democrat Tammy Duckworth

It is incredibly distasteful to use our heroic dead for a political attack on Memorial Day. I’m a Democrat and I condemn this post by the DNC.

So we don't want politicians to make distasteful posts on social media. Got it.

Going hard in the whataboutism paint today.

How so?

lol Tammy is a bad politician and she loves being the most milquetoast politician she can possibly be. They should have just left it up, even if I agree it was distasteful.

by geezerchess m

How so?

Trump is the king of politicizing literally everything and has made 100s of much more offensive posts than that but lozen never mentions that stuff but has decided instead to post a marginally bad thing a democrat posted.
