Baseball is weird as hell this year

I would blame Saturn’s moons, but I’m not Nima.

We need some angels in the outfield type **** to save the season.

In MLB history, only 24 players have been drafted and gone on to play in the major leagues without spending a single day in the minors. None of those players ever won an MVP or a Cy Young. Only five of those players ever finished in the top three for either an MVP or Cy Young. Name them. Hint: one of the players is in the Hall of Fame.

mets somehow won, reds had bases juiced in the 9th with 1 out
reds stranded 17 runners

lololol

John Olerud had more career WAR than David Ortiz.

John Olerud is one of the answers to my question, but not the Hall of Famer.

Larry Walker

edit: random guess. wanted to name a pure hitter. i realize now he has won an mvp.

Larry Walker had more than 1800 ABs in the minors.

Dave Winfield?

Is this not playing in the minors at all or just not before their ML debut? Olerud did play in the minors his last year, but someone I would have guessed anyway.

Olerud actually appeared in a couple of minor league games when he was 36.

I obviously was referring to players who skipped the minors at the beginning of their careers. I'm sure some of these guys did rehab assignments in the minors.

Correct. Dave Winfield is the Hall of Famer. Hint: One of the remaining three players is active.

id suspend him 3 games, one for each chop

I am really drawing a blank. Player like Mike Schmidt, Ozzie Smith, etc seem close. I don't think Rick Ankiel is right. It seems like phenoms, college pitchers, or players from before 1990.

Jays Leafing it up!

The remaining three players are pitchers. One debuted in 1971, one debuted in 1989, and one debuted in 2020.

No idea about 1971

Jim Abbott for 1989?

Garrett Crochet for 2020?

did anyone see the top of the third in the Yankees game

45 minutes 75 pitches

lol

by Rococo m

One debuted in 1971

Still no idea, but looking up a few things led me to an interesting fact about the 1st pick in the 1971 draft. Some of you baseball people probably already knew about it.
