But please we go through the same conversations every year regarding start times. It's a West Coast series on a delay. It's going to be on later out East. Nothing to be done, watch it next day if it's too late for you.

BS the tournaments started five hours ago at this point. Zero reason for this to be delayed this long. It’s just straight up bad business to not start early eno

Non HU tournaments will probably start earlier. But if too late, watch it tomorrow

No idea. I am not a "sky is falling" person but was just interesting to see, but also its early, people may have different schedules this year for whatever reason. Seems like a big drop for the 5k. I was surprised to see the O/8 drop 10% that is one of the most popular lower limit mix events each year.

It wouldn't surprise me if the number of foreign players is down significantly this year. Some are less motivated to come to America for a variety of reasons, others are concerned for their safety once they would get here. Foreign tourism is down all over the country so far this year, and the WSOP is unlikely to be different.

6 minutes away from shuffle up and deal, and there's a single table (9 people) registered for the GG Millions $10k at the WSOP. πŸ˜ƒ

I'm sure the event will pick up a lot of stragglers, but that's...not great for your branded multi-flight $10k.

Wow, not looking good for 10k entries in the Main this year. Huge drop in the last 30 minutes. lol

Seiver and The Takeover both hunting bracelet #8 in the $1,500 Badugi

six players remaining

600 Deepstack down sharply from last year.
2025 had 6090 entries.
2026 closed at 4624 entries.

The schedule is similar to 2025 so no bias there.
Still a little early but we may be seeing the economy catching up to low buy in players.

not only the economy, but (as was mentioned earlier) also a non-trivial amount of foreigners not feeling comfortable with traveling to the U.S. under the current administation's wreckless and aggressive posture

One possible difference is possible fatigue from $550 mystery bounty (first year of this yeah?) people might have blown their loads in that, both in energy and buyins. But even that was smaller than probably anticipated.

But generally speaking I do expect fields to decline over time. Lots of reasons for this, skill levels and rake going up, people are generally less fun and cool. Fewer poker β€œheroes” for people to hope to meet. Think these are bigger factors than economy or Trump.

Also it seems to me the series used to not really kick off until June. Maybe the employees event was late May, but I don’t remember in years past having this many events before the end of May. Perhaps numbers will pick up in June and July.

It's probably a combo of everything in the above posts, plus of course it feels like people just have less money than they did last year, at least in Europe. The price of everything is going up.

GL Nick Schulman, guy is a boss.

Yea, thats significant. As an American, its hard to speak on the behalf of how Europeans feel about coming here. However, ill say that the alternative tournaments available and just the overall lack of spare cash your average low stakes tournament grinder has available seems to be problematic.

I live in OC and thats a short drive away to go **** around in a couple WSOP tournaments for <$1500 and none of the guys I play 2-5nl with at the casino are going. Out of the 15-20 ive asked, I've heard of 2 going for any events at all. One won the employees only event last year and the other is going to play a senior event.

Nobody cares.

Couple other things:

As far as euros coming here to play? I can't imagine that at the mid/lower stakes level ($2000-$500) I would even bother traveling 12-15 hours. There's lots of casinos and lots of tournaments over there with big prize pools. If France was known for having the biggest series every year, I might go ONCE, and thats that. Just a lot of money and time.

The GG millions tournament? **** that, just wait for the main unless youre strictly NL and dont have a tournament scheduled for a week.

Oddly enough, it seems to be about 60% foreigners.

just looking at bravo/atlas plo seems way down in both number of games and wait lists.

One thing to note in regards to this is this year memorial Day was the earliest it could possibly be. The WSOP almost always starts the day after memorial Day, hence the earlier start this year.

No such thing existing, and if that was even remotely true the drop would have been seen last year as well.

That said, European media blatantly lies every week about the US administration, which might scare away some easily influenced (gullible) Euros. There are sadly way too many of those here.

But I honestly think the upcoming World Cup could have a bigger effect; many Europeans wants to travel around and follow their team in the group stage, and might not bother with the WSOP - which would otherwise have been their summer activity.

Yes, that is because of biased European Media creating the impression that it's somewhat 'dangerous' to travel into the US and that you can be 'sent home without reason'. With is obviously bull-crap for 99.999999% of Europeans.

It's sad that people are so easily brainwashed, but I was merely trying to point out that any "wreckless and aggressive posture" (I assume the poster meant reckless) does not exist. It only exists in people's minds.

OK.

People are so brainwashed they don't even want to visit a country with a commander in chief who just occasionally threatens to invade them. Bunch of morons.

You think it's biased. But it really isn't. You are biased, and so when they disagree with you, it appears biased to YOU. There have been many examples of citizens of Western European countries being detained, harassed, and deported by the gestapo ICE agents. I am certain that the media in Western Europe is way less biased than most American media. Especially shitholes like Fox, OAN, and all the other right wing propaganda channels.

Since the WSOP Circuit-induced calendar shift from April in 2005, here are the totals and percentages of Las Vegas bracelet tournaments that started in May:

Year May LV Percent
2005 0 42 0.00%
2006 0 46 0.00%
2007 0 55 0.00%
2008 2 55 3.64%
2009 4 57 7.02%
2010 5 57 8.77%
2011 3 58 5.17%
2012 7 61 11.48%
2013 6 62 9.68%
2014 9 65 13.85%
2015 7 68 10.29%
2016 0 69 0.00%
2017 2 74 2.70%
2018 4 78 5.13%
2019 5 90 5.56%
2020 0 0 0.00%
2021 0 88 0.00%
2022 2 89 2.25%
2023 5 95 5.26%
2024 10 99 10.10%
2025 11 100 11.00%
2026 12 100 12.00%

The current trend indicates that next year will break the record of 13.85% set in 2014.

Take your TDS elsewhere, Greg. Plus, I live in Europe and I know what is going on in the US, and I see how it's reported or framed incorrectly in all European news media.

Anyway, if people are so stupid that they don't want to come visit the US and play WSOP just because they don't like who is in charge, then there is no hope for them. Life is short enough as it is, and sitting out for 4 years just because of incorrect bias is blatantly stupid. I thought Joe Biden was a walking corpse with terrible policies, but I still loved visiting the US as often as I could. One person doesn't make a country.

Anyway, I am done discussing this. Looking forward to be in a safe and prosperous America (and Las Vegas) in a few days.

There are no clocks in Las Vegas ;-)

Pacific (PDT).
