** World Cup 2026 - USA, Canada, Mexico Thread **
Saw no thread was active yet while it starts tomorrow so I'd gave it a go
No real time for an extensive write-up but lets
People seem to really like SK in this upcoming match, which probably means they about to get Czechmated.
Tough to call this one, dodgy to pick either side so I'm gonna go with draw.
To anyone up and watching in Europe congrats for being a hardcore nerd.
yeah looks like an even game that could go any way
would guess the crowd in zapopan will be slightly to very pro-Son
but who knows
the long throw routine for #2 krecji to pwn zonal marking(?). props to the czech coaching staff there
Great goal.
Korea looking like the best team in the group so far.
ez game for vancouver whitecaps fc legend hwang in-beom
It's just like watching West Ham
They can both beat SA and qualify now if this holds at 1-1 imo.
Czech set pieces so dangerous.
Deserved. Korea absolutely balling.
Gg best team won. second half was well decent after the zzz first one
lol not putting that cross in. you've been beating them with size, and had like 7 guys waiting in the box for it. dang
anyway, great 2nd half. yeah both these teams should smash south africa, who high key stink

are those long throw-ins legal by the book? the player continues to stride onto the field right after the ball is released (feet don't stay stationary and set as the throw is completed)
i know when i played football in 'Murica #250 in the 80s that a throw-in like those would've been whistled straight away. play would've been stopped and the opposition would've been awarded a throw-in
perhaps the rules have changed or, more likely, it's simply a wrinkle in the rules that the vast majority of refs simply let slide
Some teams will get 2 matches in stadiums with AC. Spain is among those with the coolest temps for their 3 group matches and France is on the other end of the spectrum with blistering temps. Could be a big factor. But yah, a good manager will be heavily monitoring minutes.
Ah, I see. That could definitely be consequential

Definitely this. They hardly ever call a faulty throw in in official games, even though almost every game had someone basically dropping the ball down at their teammate's feet from way too closeby to throw to. Now the players usually seem to know what to do, maybe a lot of clubs followed Liverpool's example from a while ago of having a dedicated throw-in guy on the coaching staff.
And leniency makes some sense because a throw in is not meant as a punishment - it is, of course, but to the team that last touches the ball on the way out.
I haven't paid close attention, but I'd be surprised if in this case there isn't arguably an instance where his feet are neatly planted on the ground as he releases the ball. But maybe there wasn't, and maybe Czechia and other set piece terrorists will cause such a ruckus this tourney that VAR will kill it off henceforth
It’s a man’s game son etc.
2-0 Canada
Let's go!!!
don't know how likely 2 goals is, or a clean sheet, but fingers crossed
anyway, if lol canada happens, i blame toronto
oh ****, it's alanis! ok yeah we got his
oh, and also alphonso davies has apparently been upgraded from may miss entire tournament to on the bench. i guess thats big too...
