1/3 Grinding and Bankroll

Ran good at plo making around $3k there but ran bad at 25/50/100 losing with my value hands to hands that caught up by the river. Also honestly was playing too passively for stand up game and decided to just leave to play plo again as I didn’t feel like I was playing my normal aggressive game. At plo I was much more aggro and won pot after pot, perhaps because it was a much smaller game and I was able to run over the table.

My hearing did not go well but I put up a good fight, the hospital claimed my young client could die after fasting a few days if he started eating again suddenly and the judge bought it. It’s hard to win when they stop eating.

Ran meh again, left a good game because I was very tired. At least I had a cool video game dream I was playing smash bros with a spaceship avatar on the Kirby level. Then I was transported to a dungeon to fight a beast in reality (for a dream). Weird one.

Looking forward to enjoying the long weekend due to Juneteenth. Maybe I’ll make a come back from this little downswing. My stakee has been running very well so far, at least he’s making money even when I’m not.

Ran good at 1/2 plo but meh at 5/5, won a little on the day at least. Straight lost to set plus fd all in ott and AA got cracked by a rundown at a low spr 3! pot. Haters were needling my guide and my blog at the 5/5 game to try to put me on tilt and I said it sounded like he was sucking my dk every time he criticized me. Truthfully there would be no to discussion at all unless they perceived me as a threat who they needed to throw off my game.

I’m just gonna laugh inside a little because their comments really don’t have the intended effect. I don’t really tilt anymore and they just sound like they secretly like and admire me and feel intimidated by my presence at the table but don’t want to admit it and they act like adolescents do in middle school instead.

Laugh out loud at them next time and don't engage beyond that. The best revenge is to be unlike those that try to injure you.

Good idea. I’ll try that moving forward, although it is more fun to engage.

Ran meh the other day and yesterday was slow. Had a dream I was playing plo at big easy casino in Florida and the deck had too many aces in it. Losing to the wrong players, beating others who deserve it as well.

Back to work yesterday after father’s day. Called dad to wish him good vibes. Going to gather as family when mom gets back from beach. Going through a rough patch but it’s a long game and I’m not tilting my brain off or anything. Just some normal variance and a little ambitious preflop hand selection here and there, 77665ds and A9877ds for instance. Respectable hands but not worth playing massive pots with but I felt like gambling. No big deal. Just a blip on the graph.

Ran better last day or so since 2+2 went down, made around $3k last night mostly from plo and some hold em. Won AQQ96ds flopping top set over set and AJ865ds as well all in pre.

Isaw you mention big easy casino in a dream. Have you ever been in real life?What do you think of the 5 card games at the big easy? Hard rock?

Yeah I’ve been. They’re good games from what I’ve heard although my experience there wasn’t the best. They did have very good food though. Hard rock bigger games more regs I believe and foreign pros.

Yesterday the comeback sun run continued, winning a few grand on the day. I think I’m already in $30,000 monthly profit territory which was my goal so I’m very happy about that. Toxic pro called me a btch and I could help but tell him to stfu and said his mom must have spoiled him as a child. That quieted him. Then he said “easy money” when I lost a pot with AA, something three regs have said to try to get me worked up lately. Of course I played very well and won anyway including from his dumb a$$ because I don’t tilt over words. I won a good pot with AQQ all in pre against a good reg who raises a little too light after limping ep he raised sb I flatted short stack jammed he flatted and I 4! to $1,225 and sb jammed for my last $800. I won with a lone pair of aces.

Asked to have a talk with my boss about telework because they want people to come into the office more as is required 3x a week. Considering getting a place near the office and md live and playing there more and asking for an accommodation to telework more because I don’t want to commute an hour twice a day but I’m not ready to quit the job now over this.

Running good so far today, a funny things happened at 5/5 I sat down after the bomb pot was played to pay for time and it was 8:10, 10 minutes into the down. Toxic pro and another reg insisted I had to pay time and called the floor on me after the dealer said I didn’t have to. The floor said I was fine and I tipped the dealer the $8 I saved. Toxic pro quit the game.

Ran well yesterday again, surpassed $30k profit for the month and met my goal. I am going to the beach for a day to get away and relax this weekend before my new full time hospital assignment starts in July and work gets busier with this new law going into effect. Might go into the office today and play at live for a change of scenery. Won dsAA in a limp raised 3! pot in AQJ, beating a set or two pair - that was the biggest pot anyway. The rest were small ball pots. Lost a bad one AA nfd to top pair worse fd and his two pair outs blocked by my side cards.

Finally set up my 401k at work although the delay probably didn’t make a big difference because the employer match is very small and I was contributing to my brokerage and ira during that period anyway with the money that would have been going into the 401k.

After an office trip today I headed to md live where I was reminded how dark the poker room was. The game is fine at least and 10/10 is running but the game looks mediocre.

If I end up coming into the office more and playing here I will endeavor not to have any issues at the tables and just keep it chill.

Won at 2/2 and 10/10/50/100 but the game seemed bad so I quit before I won much in the big game. Wrapped up at mgm where I was reminded how much nicer the poker room was. Up around $32k this month. Beach trip on pause due to weather; instead, gonna visit family and celebrate Father’s Day late.

Work is gonna get busier starting next week so I’m gonna have to pare down the poker time again and really focus on getting to bed at a reasonable time over the weekends so I don’t stress myself out too much.

Oh and the drive was terrible…1hr 10 min there when I avoided the worst of rush hour. I was exhausted by the time I got to md live to play. Don’t know if I can keep this up.

I was considering playing the big live Florida games, as I doubt these winrates are sustainable online unless you have access to some really good private games. I also don’t necessarily think my skills would 100% translate in tougher games, I really have found exploits that work particularly well at these stakes against weaker opponents but probably not as well against thinking ones. For example when players get into raising wars ep versus other positions I can profitably flat any old garbage hand and get it in three ways with 40%. This doesn’t work as well or often at higher stakes.

Yesterday started rough at 5/5 with a bluff not getting through and just getting raised every hand I played, didn’t feel like I had a great table image losing so much so I left for 1/2 and bounced back, even won at 10/25 two card, flopping a set of queens my first hand I played there and doubling up. Up around $3, 000 on the night and $34, 000 this month.

A massage therapist gave me this awesome gift today, I’ve never even gotten a massage here. She heard the story about how I was left at a gas station and started a clothing brand and gave me the first shirt of her brand:

Didn’t run the best and game got bad, lost around $1, 800, lost top pair wrap bdnfd at low spr in a 3! pot was the biggest, AKJT7 on KQ3, there was a front door flush draw so I could have just flatted and taken a lower variance route but v sized really small on the flop and someone called so I put pressure on them, amazingly v tanked for minutes with KQQJT. At least I doubled up through colluder wife with AA in a 3! pot with just one pair winning at showdown, I squeezed to $100 three callers and shipped K42 with AAK73 bdnfd and gutter. When I won one of the afghan players said “easy money” which was hilarious because he knows how much a few people have been saying that to me lately to try and tilt me. Nice to have friends.

After work played but the Monday games were slow, didn’t get much going. Double board bomb pot lost top set and a fd and nut open ender to turned nut straight nfd. Still profited around $400 on the night.

Games were slow yet again but I ran pretty well overall and pocketed around $625 which isn’t bad given game conditions. My first client interview took almost an hour and was very stressful because she kept changing her mind about her hearing. And my second hospital seemed to have played games with me and didn’t tell me they planned on discharging one client (they told me they were going to a hearing), so I talked to her as if we were going to have a hearing today which turned out not to be true as they were planning on discharging her as I later learned taking to her daughter.

Finally got around to setting up my 401k at work which was never a huge priority because I have other retirement accounts but nice to do anyway.

Lost a little the first day of the month, no biggie. Slept in a little to catch up as I didn’t get the best sleep the day before, to recharge. Enjoying lattes and oat milk now in the AC yesterday went for a hike with a poker buddy in 97 degree weather which wasn’t as bad in the shade.

After work in the office went to md live again and ran fine winning a couple grand at 2/2 and 5/5. Biggest pot was AQJ93ds on 933hh in a single raised pot at spr 6, we got it in after I c/r small and he jammed and I held on KK runout. Played a little at mgm too but not much happened. Got a bit aggro preflop a couple spots for defensible reasons but they did not work out, once with AKJ62ds versus someone who seemed capped pre and I was slightly behind another with A8765ds ran into AA $300 eff. with $80 dead money.

Looking forward to the long weekend.

Playing a game with practically zero variance is really nice. The main way I lose now is just by diverging from my basic strat. I am my own worst enemy.

Started rocky at plo but finished strong, winning a ton of preflop all ins with good hands. Even won a little at the mix where I took a little break from plo when things were going south, winning 9944 in Archie versus AA and A74 in stud went runner runner QQQ to beat two pair. Ended up winning around $3, 000 on the day due to 5/5/25 and my last 1/2/5 session. Biggest pot at 5/5 was a double board bomb pot with trips and a flush draw on one and nfd nut gutter on the other which I scooped for around $1, 500 profit.

Yesterday ran well again and played well enough. This new menace was talking more crap to annoy me but I played through it and after a rough start booked a little win before 5/5 went. Ended up profiting $3, 800 on the day. My poker friend and I were taking about mgm and I said I’ve learned not to care about what other people here think. He said yes “this isn’t even reality, it’s not your life. These people wouldn’t be in your life if it weren’t for poker.”

As far as poker hands go, won an AA multi-way and QTT87ss on 982 three ways for $900 making trip eights (power of the pair!). AA nfd won multi-way too with an c/r jam on the turn versus passive action. Also got three streets out of the nut flush against the second nut flush. Called it a night after someone told their neighbor what they had with action pending and I was very pissed off, drove home but it was pouring rain and I played another hour or so in a decent 5/5 until the big action got felted in a double board bomb pot and called it a night.

My goal for this year is now to make more than I’ve ever made in a single year of poker. If I keep making close to $30k a month I’ll get there. Fingers crossed!

Made a couple grand yesterday, saw my family too which was nice. At plo won AQ743cc on 732cc in a 3! pot. Lost some at 5/T 99 to AJo in a 3! pot at a tiny spr on the turn to dude who has this delusion I cheated or angled him in a hand years ago and wonÂ’t let it go. (His version is I was hiding my chip stack. Which is silly because he bought in for close to the minimum.) He called me an angle shooter again last night and I told him he was despicable for smearing a good personÂ’s name. He called the floor on me, lol, and I explained it all and nothing happened.

Lost a little more at plo when I was called for that then 5/5 went on my request and the game was decent, won a few decent pots like top quads against toxic pro with AKQQ8ds on QTTQ6 my c/r got paid off. Also won wrap to top pair low gutter, spr was decently high so I flatted without a pair and got there. Tried to get him to bite on the turn and river but he checked back and I just won at showdown.
