At the risk of engaging in whataboutism, do you believe Putin and his government are legitimate? Do they have honest and fair elections in your opinion?
they are just as fair as any election in the West as far as I can tell.
legitimacy is a different question. is Trump legitimate? less than 50% of the possible voters voted. his approval rating is like 30%. what are Putin's numbers? what are Zelensky's? if they are better than Trump then does that make them legit?
my point, as always, is that if we apply the same standards to the US and the West as our media and political class applies to Russia (or really anyone) then the US is at least just as bad if not worse.
