USA Goes to War Against Iran
Time for a dedicated thread to the war.
How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?
Let's say they magically take the uranium, and Iran continues to block the straight. Now what?
The US can't magically take all the uranium obv, but I don't think Iran can magically block the strait for years either. Iran is kind of exposing its defense systems when its firing off missiles and the US appears to be having success locating some % of their launchers as a result. They can move again and rinse and repeat but that is one hell of an expensive project to keep a strait closed that jsut ends up hurting you just as much or more than the enemy.
Iran is more set up to make a ground invasion a disaster - which I'm sure has been explained to trump to some degree.

I wouldn't consider the houthis some modern military but they seem to be able to shut down the Suez canal at will. Why would Iran have a harder time with the strait?

I respect that this President had the guts to not just kick the can down the road. That being said, Trump blew it by taking the foot off the pedal and thinking he can negotiate with terrorists.

There is a 100% chance Trump is going to leave a mess for that the next administration has to try to clean up as he did in his first term.
Pretty crazy the US doesn't even have military bases secure from Iranian air attacks at this stage. With a lot of stuff you always find yourself asking was this something that would have been hard for a normal administration or is it just because Trump Hegseth Vance style affirmative actions are in charge. Not realizing the straight was going to be secured and not even being able to protect military bases 5 months in definitely seems like a culture war bros trying to fight an actual war problem.

Obama got a deal by only having to apply economic pressure. You might want to start using the Art of the Deal to wipe your ass with.
With that out of the way, what do you mean by do what needs to be done? Nukes? Have 100K+ service members get slaughtered trying a ground invasion? Be specific as to what needs to be done now.
WE went from Ernest Moniz negotiating to Jared Kushner and JD Vance. I think the best case is get to some sort of stopping point without any huge long term decisions made and let the next administration try to fix Trump's disaster.

It goes without saying that virtually any administration would not be fighting a war to get the straight of Hormuz open just based on the cultural expectations of normals vs Trumpers.
