I agree. Trump naively thought he could pressure the Iranians into a deal. I don’t think he has the will to do what needs to be done now. He is also leaving a mess for the Israelis.

The oil isn't there. It is just sent there via pipelines to be offloaded. Pretty much anyone could blow up the pipelines sending the oil there anytime they wanted. Also, Iran could just turn off the pipelines.
There is actually no real strategic reason to "take" Kharg island, which would probably involve lots of casualties and leave troops in highly vulnerable position; unless you think there would be some psychological justification. Much better to just blow up the pipelines on the Iranian mainland side if you wanted to take Kharg offline. Would be trivially easy.

no it just shows the weak fortifications for the US soldiers at these bases.
