Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan

Agreed.

Yeah, I guess I’m just terrified of the knee + Nagy/Giants and also it being impossible to trade for RBs in this league haha

But you guys are probably right

A few nice fallers

Dynasty startup that is best ball with heads up matchups every week
14 teams
start QB/superflex/2RB/3WR/2TE/3 flex/15 bench for total of 27 man rosters

.2 per completion, 6 pt pass TD, -1 INT, -1 for sack
.2 per rush attempt, .2 for rush/receiving 1st down
ppr for wr, 1.25 ppr for rb and 2 ppr for te.

We all start with 1,000 in the startup draft.

Got offered the following trades
1) $100 in this years draft for my '27 rookie draft 1st rounder
2) $30 for my '27 2nd
3) villain's' '27 first for $125 of my $1k budget his yr

Do you accept any of them?

I’ve never played an auction but I looked up an auction draft someone had sent me the results of

Nico and London both went in the 70s, I would take both of those guys well over a first, so I guess I would accept the $90 for your 1st, but like I said I’ve never played a dynasty auction so I might be missing something

Maybe counter for more though since someone offered you $125 for their pick

Thank you for the input. Unfortunately, the auction you were looking at may not have been a dynasty league, had 14 teams, started 12, been best ball or had a $1k budget which all play a factor in player pricing. I am wrestling now with all of these effect players prices... and the slow draft starts tomorrow morning.

It was a dynasty league and was 14 tm, had $1K budget and best ball. Don’t know if it was start 12

Not sure what the rest of the settings were (this was not the complete draft, just at the time it was sent)

Oh, damn that is super helpfully then to gauge value. That team looks insanely good for a 14 teamer too.

I labeled this one as The Red Wedding

Seems fitting considering how many might not survive the full season :P

This was a fun one with Puka dropping to 6 and creating a somewhat unique build

Something I’ve been doing in SF I like is splitting up RB/WR into groups of 5.

The first group is always 3 or 4 RBs to 2 or 1 WRs. The second group is the inverse, and the rest I’ll figure out correlation and uniqueness.

I also really like starting QB/QB/RB/London and then pushing QB3 to Tua or Penix, or sometimes both.

Looks good. Gut feeling 4 QBs is better here but I have no proof that’s true

I wouldn't mind adding Fields or Lance at the end, especially with the unknown of when Mendoza starts. But not sure how much a rando backup or someone like Beck does for the team. Could make arguments to try to hit one of the Falcons/Cleveland QBs to nail a 4th starter.

I've been doing some 5 QB builds in certain spots, and I kind of like it haha.

But I'm almost always doing at least 4 QBs. Through 66 completed, I've only done four 3 QB (Lamar, Mahomes, Nix), (Allen, Kyler, Ward), (Maye, Love, Darnold), and (Hurts, Dart, Baker). I've done eight 5 QB. And the other 54 are 4 QB.

These are probably my two favorites 5 QB.

Yea I don’t know what’s right for sure. I’ve just been limiting my 4 and 5 QB teams for my hero/zero build.

Me neither, but after reviewing the finals in the Puppy SF last year, you absolutely need to get the QBs right in week 17.

The 6th place team only had 1 QB hit the lineup, which was Maye. His lineup played Maye, Charbs, Bijan, Burden, Olave, McBride, Mayer, Puka.

Then 11th place only had 1 QB hit the lineup and had a 3 QB team of Gabriel, Darnold, and Stafford, which I feel like is almost never shipping it. Then after that, you have to go to 28th to find the next team that only played 1 QB. And it was a reasonable room of Trevor, Rodgers, Love, and Pickett.

34th was a pure 2 QB team with only Tua and Maye lol. And that just is always going to be dead to win the finals.

Now, there was a decent mix of 3 QB and 4 QB teams in the top 28, but you're not coming close to winning the contest if you don't have the QB scoring, so it just feels correct to almost always find at least 4 in the build. With a lot of the 3 QB rooms comprising of QBs drafted in the top 5 or so rounds. I think my favorite build is 3 QBs in the top 5-6 rounds then a handcuff of one of those QBs in the last couple of rounds.

There was a 6 QB team in 5th place, and it's gross lol. Willis, Milton, Rattler, Howard, Cousins, and Maye. Quite a bit of Willis at the top being that last round backup that hit.

The winner was a 3 QB team with Dart, Stafford, and Purdy.

Not to mention, The Field General final has 271 more teams than the Puppy final last season. So going to be even tougher without the top scoring QBs.

All sounds good to me.

Pete and Pat built an interesting team earlier.

Burrow, Ward, Mendoza

Skattebo, Warren, Brooks, Tucker

Chase, Waddle, Worthy, Doubs, KC, Hunter, Ridley, Dell

Bowers, McBride, Gesicki.

Justification for stopping at 4 RBs is not chasing potentially bad picks just because you think you need more. Though, not sure if going Dell over Kaytron, which is what they discussed, accomplishes that. ETA: Kayton actually went between Ridley and Dell, so that’s why they went with Dell. The discussion is do you push Ridley for the stack with Ward in favor of adding Kaytron’s upside?

Gesicki stacked with Burrow accomplishes more team high end outcome and ideally avoiding a zero, even with the bully start. Sims were not pushing them to more RBs at the end.

That Gesicki pick is a concept I’ve been pushing more on the heavy QB strat. Just willing to take 3 relatively expensive QBs, if I’m completing stacks for earlier picks. I’m not sure it’s justified as much if you have to back stack the 3rd QB, outside of a nice ADP fall.

Not a fan of bully TE but don’t mind bowers and McBride for the finals correlation. In which case I really dislike the Gesicki pick

Things may have got away from me a bit while I was trying to draft and interview someone at the same time lol

Yeah, I'm really not sure. The theory is that Gesicki helps you somewhere in the playoff weeks. And while the Bowers/McBride w17 correlation is a bonus, I don't really think that's the best justification for picking them both right there. It's more about them crushing the regular season and then also having smash weeks in the playoffs to help you. It's tough to have a winner with a TE in the flex, though, you obviously hope your 2nd/3rd round picks are mostly hitting your lineup in some fashion, especially in the finals. Which is also why bully TE continues to be suboptimal.

The Sidekick had Malik Washington as the top pick and Gesicki as the second best pick for the 18th round. I dunno. I'm really trying to respect some of the things the Sidekick suggests and try to understand it. I think the sims heavily weight some production versus highly possible zeros in the last few rounds, especially when that potential production is stacked.

Haha, I think it can be fine if the QBs work out. RB/WR/TE look good enough.

How about the good ole 6-6-6-2? This is the Frenchie 3 SF, so with the 4/12 x 1/2 x 1/2, I decided to go elite TE, take Pitts stacked with Penix to stop with 2 TE to give me an extra QB spot, and heavily lean into rookie QBs plus week 17 correlation.

It will likely be absolutely terrible and a $10 punt, but what if it's not?
